CWM restore failed : data.img not found

Hi everybody,
First of all I want to say thanks to this community because I found a lot of informations here and solved many problems I had.
I searched all the day and I don't know what to do with the issue I get now...
I decided to install JellyBlast V3 on my Galaxy Y GT-S5360. Before that I made a backup of my stock ROM with ClockWorkMod (v5.0.2.6) and then I installed JBV3.
All was allright and I wanted to restore my datas only from the backup with the CWM advanced restore. That didn't work (Maybe because I can't restore datas from a different ROM?)
So, I wanted to make a complete restore from the same backup to get all my datas back, but I get the following message :
"data.img not found. Skipping restore of /data
.android_secure.img not found. Skipping restore of /scard/.android_secure.
Restore complete!"
The phone can boot up but my datas are not restored at all.
I explored the backup folder and there is no "data.img"... but in some resolved threads I read people didn't have it neither... and I am a big optimist so I kept searching...
I tried to restore again but with another zip file of CWM (who resolve some bugs) I found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27475895
But It failed again with the same issue.
I read that if the kernel changed the restoring is not possible anymore so a previous kernel have to be installed (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27475895 )
To be sure, I installed a stock ROM with Odin by following this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1465800
I picked the S5360_XXKL3_OXXKL1_XXKL3 bundle.
Since I installed the fresh ROM I tried to restore datas again, but I got the same issue again...
So, I want to understand why I get this error ?
Maybe flashing with a stock ROM is not enought to replace the present kernel by the original one ?
Thanks for enlighted me (and sorry for my english)
By any chance is your CWM called gt-s5360CWM or something
You have to backup with a clean CWM and restore with the same clean CWM

Indeed, the first CWM I used to create the backup was "GT-S5360_CWM.zip" but the restore doesn't work.
The second CWM I tried is called "CWM_bla_bla.zip" and the restore failed with this one too.
I think the backup I made is not proper
Thank you for your help.
PS : if my backup is corrupted, is there a way to recover at least my contacts with a backup explorer or something ?
EDIT : I think my backup is definitely not good, I made another one with the "unbugged" CWM and It makes more files including a "data.rfs.tar" file...

[HELP][Q] I9500 Stuck at samsung logo + an empty EFS folder

Hy everyone,
I'm a little desperate now. my i9500 is stuck at Samsung logo even the animation sound that not complete, i had mokee rom 4.4.2, made a restore from a previous nandroid backup, barebone prism rom V3.0 worked perfectly, installed nandroid manager and restored some access point passwords, worked perfectly so far, my phone reached 1% in battery then turned off after a while. when i wanted to reboot it, the phone freezes in Samsung logo.
Recovery: Philz touch recovery
I tried everything that i know about,
1° reboot in revocery and restore from a previous nandroid backup (NOT GOOD)
2° reboot in recovery, perform a full wipe, restore from a working previous backup (NOT GOOD)
3° reboot in recovery perform a wipe reset (NOT GOOD)
4° restore via odin in download mode last stock firmware for my phone I9500XXUEMJ8 (NOT GOOD)
5° i tried mounting all partitions for check and .... Eroor mounting /efs!
i checked efs folder with aroma file manager ... 0 files inside :crying:
i had a previous backup for EFS found in kies in .tar.gz format
i tried to restore it with several methods
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2392632
guess what ?? NOT GOOOD
i tried manually to copy files in EFS folder and changed the permission for EACH file with the same permission from the backup in my laptop then i reboot in recovery, the files still inside but when i reboot the system, the files are gone
i've read somewhere that there is two type of efs , and the efs made by some old stock rom won't work for a new one (Personally i don't know but like i said i'm desperate) so i downloaded from sammobile the FIRST rom that was in my phone and put it via odin (Re partition was never checked) then i tried the methods above ... :crying::crying::crying:
because i only have .tar.gz i tried restore it and witout rebooting the phone ===> (EFS Folder not empty YET) made a backup in .img format so that i can restore in /dev/block/mmcblk0p3 still not good
so i REALLY need your help and plz do not ask me to go to service center, warranty binary status is 1
Thanks everyone and have a good day

the your phone will boot normally. unistall knox and only then you could put your efs backup to the phone.

If you did a backup then you should be able to restore that backup using the same method. Eg: If you used an app, that app should be able to restore the efs folder.
The problem with the EFS folder on the latest versions of Android is that it doesn't contain the IMEI, last time I checked. The IMEI is now stored in hidden partitions, which is why when it comes to backing up this important stuff I recommend Wanam's EFS Backup tool from the Play Store. Not only does it back up the EFS folder, but also backs up those hidden partitions as well as the modem..
In this instance however, Lennyz1988 I believe has the right answer.

IMEI null. Unknown baseband. EFS IMEI Backup by Wanam and Nandroid Backup didn't work

I lost my phone's IMEI trying to do a backup of it, and also lost my baseband. Backups of IMEI didn't work, and also the backup of the rom made with Nandroid backup.
I wanted to copy the folder EFS, cauase someone recommended to backup the IMEI this way. I did it by ES File Explorer, but when copying the folder EFS, appeared an error message like this: "Failed to copy NVRAM" or something like that.
I do not know if it happened in this process or if the EFS folder had already corrupted with other IMEI backups made with various applications (backups that did not serve me at all). Considering that my IMEI continued null / null when I tried to restore them with a lot of applications (Partitions Backup & Restore, Samsung Tools etc)
Maybe it's important to say that before attempting to restore the IMEI by several backups I had done before tried to install other modems to see if the network appears again. But did not.
Finally, I reinstalled the rom stock by Odin and nothing resolved. I continue with the IMEI issue null/null and unknown baseband.
My last attempt was to restore the backup I made the rom the first day I picked up the phone.
The backup I made with Online Nandroid Backup application. Be safe with this backup because on any topic roms here from XDA, the developers says "Do a nandroid backup first." And that's what I did.
In momement when I did the backup with this application, my recovery installed was Philz Recovery (which is based on CWM), it may be important to say that.
But anyway, the backup is saved on my PC, and I had not needed to use it, and thought it would work when I needed it, but it did'nt work.
Once installed the rom again by Odin, did root, and installed the same Philz Recovery (to have less doubt that the backup can be restored without problems with Nandroid Manager), but it didn't work.
I created a folder called "backup" in the clockworkmod folder "and put my backup there (one who has the time and date of creation in the name).
And when I tried to restore the backup by Nandroid Manager application, the only thing that happens is the phone to reboot, without even access at first the recovery. So the backup can't be restored again.
Then I converted the file to ".zip" and I went to recovery and tried to install it, also failed. It appeared some problem related to the "MD5".
So I installed CWM Recovery (not Philz) and tried to restore the backup with Nandroid Manager, did not work, the phone again, just restarted. So I tried to install the backup as a ".zip" from CWM Recovery, and again, there was a new message regarding the "MD5".
So I installed TWRM Recovery, and tried to restore the backup by Nandroid Manager (but the application said the backup was originated by CWM and it could not be restored by another recovery) then I tried installing the ".zip" file by TWRM recovery, and gave some kind of failure, can not remember exactly what, but I think also related to "MD5".
So I tried to fix the problem related to MD5, I saw some threads on XDA saying how to do ... basically tried two methods.
The first attempt was to delete the file "Nandroid.MD5" by Root Explorer and create a new file with the same name and with the same extension.
So I tried again to restore the backup by Nandroid Manager (with Philz Recovery and CWM Recovery), but also failed. Also failed to install a ".zip" file driectly by the recovery with the new file "nandroid.MD5" created. This file ".zip" with MD5 file "probably fixed" I tried to install with the 3 recoveries already mentioned. Did not work. It continued an error related to "MD5".
The second attempt was to try to correct the "MD5" file with the Terminal Emulator, by this commands:
su
# Mount -o remount rw / sdcard
#cd /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/2012-04-17.10.09.36
#rm nandroid.md5
# md5sum * img> nandroid.md5
Again, I tried to restore the file by Nandroid Manager (with philz Recovery and CWM Recovery) ... And also tried to restore the file ".zip" by both recoveries, includint TWRP Recovery. Nothing worked.
In the backup name has no spaces. And the files inside it are:
boot.img
cache.ext4.tar
data.ext4.tar
efs.ext4.tar
modem.img
recovery.img
recovery.log
system.ext4.tar
I have a backup intact without modification for future experiments.
I do not know what else to do, I just want to restore the backup to see if the network went back, with my IMEI and my baseband losted.
-
I tried to do the right things and looks like it was worse than if I had done nothing.
For example, trying to save the EFS folder by ES Explorer, apparently that destroyed this folder.
But before It had already made a backup of the rom, but I can not restore it.
It would was better If I did nothing to try to forearm... Cause for now I do not know what to do whit these problems...
My last step will be to gather cash to buy a box to put my IMEI back to the phone... = (

[Q] Create ODIN flashable zip from TWRP backup

dear members,
I need help in creating a odin flashable file from TWRP back for SM-900F
I have seen some guides on net for creating the zip file, but i have two system.ext4.win files named as system.ext.win000 and win001
I have attached screenshot of twrp backup folder showing all files available.
After flashing custom ROM, camera has always failed on TW ROMs for me.
But i have TWRP backup of my original ROM in which camera was working.
can somebody please guide how to create a odin flashable zip.
Problem is that if i restore via TWRP , then it enters into a bootloop.
not sure why. any ideas how to resolve bootloop would be useful. Do i need to be on the same bootloader and modem as the backup being restored ?
thanks in advance ....
could be the bootloader, but most common thing thats caused bootloops on my G900p is the presence of those pesky android file folders on internal and the sd card. Delete them in twrp, wipe and then try a restore
