Good day guys! I'm new here at XDA, and with all this csc, rooting and flashing of roms thing and I just wanted to ask something about it.
I recently bought my friend's note 3 which originally had the Malaysian Rom (XME).. but before he sold the phone to me, he told me that he had updated/flashed the Singaporean Rom (MM1) on the phone.. I just wanted to ask, is it still possible to go back to the original XME Rom even though he had already flashed a newer MM1 Rom?? Would the phone still work as it should be with no problems/issues?? I hope someone could help me on this.. Many thanks guys!

You can try but if it starts looping reflashing the Singaporean rom should fix it.
Boot-looping just means it has a newer bootloader in this case. If possible I would suggest to make a backup of your EFS folder.

Thanks for the info mate! I'm now actually tempted to try what you have just said, but i worry about the backing up and restoring of EFS part.. It sounds hard and complicated. I think I'll just wait for an updated Malaysian Rom (XME) and then flash that one.. just to be on the safe side.. Cheers!
May i ask what happens if you try to downgrade to an old firmware?
You'll bootloop because the bootloader won't be able to boot it.

Apparently so, has to do with trying to get around the secure bootloader

if your phone has been rooted AND if your friend had flashed the Singaporean Rom by using Mobile Odin Pro, you can fallback to the older firmware. Because the old bootloader was preserved by Mobile Odin Pro.
So ask your friend which tool he had used to flash the firmware.
BTW, why do you want to fallback to the older firmware? May be you notice some differences between XME and MM1 roms?

Hi..he said he never rooted the phone, he just flashed the MM1 rom because he wanted a newer rom on the phone. To be honest, I don't really know why I want to go back to the XME rom.. maybe because that was the original rom that the phone came with and I want the phone to be in it's original state again?
Plus.. when I connect to Kies, it says something about my phone not being supported for firmware updates.. and my csc is still XME and not MM1 which is the Singaporean Rom. I guess I just want my phone to go back to XME so that I can use firmware update on Kies..
Ok so you need to wait until XME has at least ML2 version and flash. No other choice.
IMO, from the point of usage, there is no major difference between XME and MM1 release. Btw, MM1 always has the newest firmware than XME.

MK/ML can downgrade to MJ7 - for whatever reason Samsung allowed it, assume it is because they closed whatever security loop and have deemed MJ7 the safest bootloader to fall back to.

so i can flash 02uk mj7 over btu mk2 without any issues?
the battery drain on mk2 btu is horrible, and im guessin 02 wouldnt release firmware without testing it properly
By the way, I was able to flash XSI Mj7 over SER MK2. I did it by wiping system partition in TWRP, after which flashing went through with no issue

Yeah I was able to do it.. no wipe, no factory reset.. I just flashed it with odin, and all my files/settings are still there! Some people commented here that it was not possible but for some reason it worked.. I just thought that if I encounter any bootloops I'll just flash the MM1 Rom again.. luckily I didn't have to.
hey guys ive been told you cannot go back to older firmwares (dunno whether that counts branded ones like 02)
but is there any way around it? surely there must be a way?
im guessing seen as 02 had there hands on the software for so long they managed to fix the battery drain...
cheers

I think you can do this with Odin!
You just have to download the firmware you want from http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ and flash it with Odin. BUT you PROBABLY WILL trigger Knox 0x1!

if you use a stock FW no knox trigger. easiest way would be flash mk2 with the o2uk csc ( im not sure it exists)
then factory reset

That's where I looked.
But I was not sure which one is right.
Sweden - VDS
or
Sweden - 3 is not the one I should have.
or
Nordic countries - NEE.
I think it's the last thing that is right.
Thanks for your time!
Next question!
I want to get rid of everything that existed on the device and start from scratch.
Is there some kind of formatting that removes just about everything and it may be that from the factory?
After I flash the stock ROM it wont turn wifi on. its been stopped by knox!??
Why and how to fix?

Ok. I try to see if that works!
I have a Note3 that it won't update from JB to KK via OTA so I downloaded the kitkat ROM and tried to install it via odin..as odin updating I got a red FAILED on the top left then I kept trying I got the error attached here. I gave up and I took it to a local shop and he got to working fine but he said he didn't use odin he used a box something to fix it? for my future reference is there is a way to fix my issue in a different way?
I used the below ROM:
