hi every one
firstly id like to say im really dissapointed with the support ive recieved thus far regarding this knox issue.
having searched every rooting for s4 thread i found nothing, i couldnt even post in chainfires own thread to ask for assistance.
so maybe a mod or an advance samsung user can help me by refering me to a knox rooting thread or guide on how i can make this phone worth the money i paid.
i got hold of the s4 gt-i9505 cheap £100 locked to o2 uk, but its riddled with this knox security stuff thats blocking odin from flashing auto root.
and i couldnt even use the *#0011# sim unlock method because of this ridiculous stuff samsung is using now. (definately my last ever samsun device)
sorry for ranting so much but without root this phones going in the bin.
thanks to all and everyone who helps me with this issue
note: i dont need warranty on this phonebe cause its just going to be used for developing pokemon games similar to rpg maker fan games with content updates

Sim lock isnt the same of Region lock. Dont mix things and learn something about. If ur phone is only sim locked, can be unlocked by IMEI. If is region locked, NO.
Wow

wow dude not to be rude but you are clearly a NOOB i dont care about sim lock or region lock, do you know what knox security is on samsung devices? if not then i suggest you learn, because it is stopping every one from rooting and flashing custom roms and recovery.
i have a suspicion you don't speak english well, and are misinterpreting what im saying.
let me rephrase my question...
how do i root my samsung galaxy s4 gt-i9505 with samsungs android stock rom ver. 4.4.2 with knox security bootloader

Hi Devs,
I have a SIM-locked Note 3 purchased in the UK. They told me it's unlocked, but I've not been able to use a SIM from my country with it. I have also used the Chainfire Region unlock app.
Now as you might have guessed my Knox warranty is tripped. I'm not willing to pay any extra amount to unlock it.Honestly, the whole process is making me sick.
So I want to know, is there a way to sort of 'flash' this phone and install everything(firmware) from scratch and remove the SIM network lock restriction?
If you already trip knox you can try a custom rom that have region unlock on it.You can find a lot. From what i see Xnote and Omega rom are the best.
I've searched and tried some of the unlocked guides but none seems to work and to the contrary I've read of posts that just messed up their phones by flashing something. I know you said you don't want to pay anything but at this point a unlock code is the only way to go, I think.
As for flashing everything from scratch, yes you can always flash stock firmware or rom of your choice ( except remove the SIM network lock part ).

Thanks for your response. Is there any trusted service you can refer to me, with which I could pay and get theunlock code?
Or perhaps do you think it would work if I ran a different OS like 'Firefox' or 'Ubuntu Touch'?

I've read of linux running on note 3 but not in depth so not sure if they will work.
I kept reading about Cellunlock.net when in comes to unlock code but I've never use them so check them out or maybe other members here can recommend one to you.
I used this service and had the code within an hour.
My Note 3 is stock unrooted.

That is interesting but a little unclear - was your phone network-locked (to some provider) or was that only for the region-lock? Since I believe all the codes I have seen so far are for network-unlock and NOT for region-lock (even if I have seen 2-3 posts from users that have contacted Samsung and after a few weeks of complaining Samsung gave them a code to region-unlock, but I have no personal experience on that so all must be taken with a grain of salt).
The region unlock from chainfire is not a sim unlock. You will need to unlock it from the networks.

I'm quite sure it's not region-locked, but SIM-locked...if only a custom ROM would bypass the lock, I wouldn't hesitate to flash one on it.

Three lock their mobiles to their network. Never listen to sales staff as they're just after a quick sale. - And no flashing a custom ROM won't bypass the SIM Lock, you'll have to shell out the money to get it unlocked.

My Note 3 was networked locked to O2 Ireland.
Please, i need help... need to know if region lock goes away if i change rom for a custom rom from htcmania.com, for example.
I have one rooted note 3 N9005 updated to 4.4.2 and didnt work chainfire app. My base band is N9005XXUENB1. I think that chainfire method is not compatible with my note, right?
But, will i delete region lock if i install recovery and custom rom??

That was tried by people with the region lock. It didn't work. The region lock survived the flash causing even more trouble for those that did this.
But hey, go ahead and try... Let us all know how it failed again...

Mind linking me to where flashing a custom rom didn't region unlock someone's phone? I have helped 2 or 3 ppl unlock their phone that way. The roms have the region lock taken out so the phone still being region locked doesn't make sense.

Try xnote or sweet rom or any other rom. If you read the OP, it will mention whether the rom is region unlocked or not, and most of them are so you won't have any issues if you use any rom on xda.

Unlock it through Samsung service center but you will have to pay
I want to buy Note 3 N9005 in Amazon.com and my friend will bring me (http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00F0FVKRM/ref=olp_tab_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new).
However, I will use in Turkey. If my friend uses it his own simcard in America, region unlock is done? I dont want waste my money (about 600$)
Folks, finally i solved it... It was much more easy that i thought.
I spoke with Samsung Customer Center by chat, and asked them for the region unlock code. They delayed 3 weeks, but finally they sent it to me and it worked fine.
I think that the code is different for each cell, but i leave here mine, never know...

Good luck!

Hello all,
I searched the forums round and round, and couldn't find my answers so I hope you will be able to help me out.
i'm looking for a new phone and decided I want to go with the S5. that was before i learned about KNOX and it's wonderful ways.
i'm a heavy modder, who will most definitely use a custom recovery and ROM/kernel.
my questions are:
1. would it be possible to flash a custom recovery / rom / kernel / modem despite KNOX being preset?
2. other then getting this 0x1 and voiding my official warranty, are there any other result to this? will something not work?
3. assuming I get an unlocked international phone, is there any need to mess/change my FW? or is that just part of guides for rooting without tripping KNOX ?
Basically, I want to be sure that I could do whatever I want to the phone without getting stuck or turning it unusable because of KNOX. my current phone is a Nexus 4 and it has been heaven. I want to preserve this feeling
thanks for the help guys, appreciate it!
Did you tried Towelroot method for rooting your device? I heard that doesn't trigger knox..
I would imagine my rooting the phone is the least of my worries.
as far as I know - and this is one of my questions - flashing a custom recovery and or rom will 100% trip KNOX.
not that I care, I just need to know if this is true..and my other questions as well
thanks!
A brief answer
If you - as you say "i'm a heavy modder" Samsung phones are not for you
I've heard tales of people having issues flashing modems when knox is triggered. I have not checked that out for myself Joe have I searched any further into the matter.
I plan on breaking knox soon though because screw knox.

This answer really worries me to be honest.
could you elaborate?
I don't really care about KNOX, and as long as I can mod away and jump back and forth between modems/roms/kernels - I don't care for the warranty.
If indeed there is truth in the matter, and modem flashing will become a problem if KNOX is tripped, then this would be a deal breaker for me on this phone.
anyone care to add more info here?

You can, but you will always have problems like network, connection, calls, bugs and so on
Samsung devices do not provide the old pleasure as previously
Knox killed freedom of developers and people who like customizations
I would really appreciate an answer from someone who knows for sure.
does tripping KNOX disables the option to upgrade/downgrade the modem?

No, KNOX tripping is only at the moment a warranty void solution for samsung. its like the flash count flags.
basically if you trip knox. you're already in it. you do what you want

I bought my phone with ANCE firmware and the KNOX was tripped in the first hour by CF-AutoRoot. Now I'm on ANG2, flashed with Odin and the modem is updated correctly.

Exactly, but with full stock image flush (including bootloader). The full stock tar.md5 form sammobile includes the modem/bootloader/rom. I think that the important thing is to have a modem which is compatible with the bootloader (same version). Didn't try to mix different bootloader/modem(baseband) versions.
Tripping KNOX will only disable the feature which allows you to store some data on a encrypted part of the device (Mostly comercial use) when KNOX is tripped any data stored on the 'special' partition is destroyed.
So there are only 2 things that will be affected, your warranty (Not a problem in Europe) and the special partition that I explained earlier.

Hi, I have a samsung s4 9505. as it's a spare I decided to play arOundle with the firmware so I installed the latest stock one. Its now locked to EE. Is there any firmware / Rom that I can install without it being tied to ee. If so , where can I download it from. Do any of you guys have one. I am uk based. I have tried the unlock method that I found on the net. By keying in *#0011# but I can't get the service menu up to change it. I had a insurance claim on my other phone and that give you the choice to use whoever you want. Is there a way of cloning that one and putting it onto my s4. There both S4 9505.
Thanks
You need to downgrade your modem or possibly the entire ROM to an Android 4.2.2 version before the service mode exploit or RegionLock Away will work. Once you do that and unlock the S4, download this ROM and install it. Then you should be good to go.
Thank you for the reply, can you link me to the downgrade the rom to andriod 4.4.2 , I'm not that techy so please be gentle . Lol

I tell ya my opinion. The best you can do is unlock your device by IMEI buying a simple code coz downgrading is always one big risk.
I have tried 2 online unlocking company's but both said they can't generate the code.

Yes fingerprint unlock still work after root and custom rom and if your knox is tripping and you brick your device then you must pay full price for samsung service if you want your device repaired because your warranty is void

For fingerprint, it depends on the ROM, some rom do not have it natively, in this case you'll have to download a thrid party app. You should read ROM features, it's allways written whenever fingerprint unlock is available or not.
