Can you download files from LAN to selected folder, modify it, and send it again? or you can, using eg QuickPic sort images to different folders?
Can you use download files, and send files to different folders? eg apps to apps, music to music.?
Or you can using ID3 Tag editor download and modify music data/covers?

Give it a rest. We get it. The changes to external SD access have inconvenienced you. The changes are no surprise, so you shouldn't have upgraded if it was so critical to you to continue having full read/write access with every app.
Either use one of the fixes suggested in this thread or in the other thread you're complaining repeatedly in, or downgrade to 4.3.

its not about me, what about other people that see update, install it and find out that they cant use 50% of their apps? did you thought about that? and some people cant root, or dont know how.
I just use 4.3 but others update their XZ and would just find out that their phones doesn't work like before and just call XZ stupid phone and sell it, they gonna buy different phone and find out it again and they gonna see how google mess with idea of freedom of Android.
Its like some car producer would say that you cant use your back seats, and lock back doors, how you would feel about that?

This is a development site. Most people here are perfectly capable of rooting to workaround issues like this or even of checking critical changes in Android updates before blindly updating. I posted about this change in KitKat a few times in the large thread about the update that you've participated in, for a start.
Repeatedly complaining after you've been told how to fix your issue is doing nothing but pointlessly flooding threads in any case. Please stop.

Dude I can do anything I like and there is no error .. So if you really dont know why its not working for you simply just downgrade to 4.3 rather just thinking of others , if they like the phone they will keep it and if they dont then obviously everyone has their own choice to sell it or buy it. So please stop complaining and take some time to fix it if its not working for you then just simply downgrade ... AND CHILL

Come on now, really?
There's no reason for you to repeatedly complain about this in different threads after you've been informed of how to fix it.
This is becoming off topic and it's disrespectful to flood a useful thread like this, so this is my last word on the subject. Have a good day.

Could we just convert an app like solid explorer to a system app to regain full control? Is that why file commander still works, or is it something else? I haven't had a chance to upgrade yet and try this out.
Thanks in advance.

This works for me... TB (6.1.5.6 Pro) uses /storage/scard1/TitaniumBackup folder.
I installed 4.4.2 with FTF, rooted with towellroot, instamlled SuperSU and used NextApp SDFix.

This SD Card ussue is not fix for Xperia Devices - I've tried the Fix app, but it change nothing even if it says so... Have someone a solution!?
P.S. To convert some app into system App doesn't work neather.....

[TOOL] Enable APP2SD on Froyo 2.2 devices without the need for root permissions

Hi guy, we're the Androidblog.it staff, and we created a useful tool that allows you to to move your apps to your SDcard.
This tool does not require ROOT permissions, but need Android Froyo 2.2.
You only have to install the USB drivers (adb), enable debug mode, and connect your phone to PC...EASY!
This tool will show you two options:
1- Apply App2SD - Patch (Applica App2SD – Patch)
2- Restore defaults (Ripristina impostazioni di default)
"Now available also the English Version!"
To apply the patch you only need to select the first option, the second if you want to remove it.
TOO EASY!
Thanks to KuroAndroid and to Murder for the betatesting, and to Ivan Boscacci for the inspiration.
YOU CAN FIND THE LINK FOR DOWNLOAD THE TOOL HERE IN THE ORIGINAL POST.
I hope you'll enjoy it!
Recall that the Tools created by Andrew (AndroidBlog.it STAFF) is owned by AndroidBlog.it ...if you want to use it on your blog we would appreciate if you will quote the link to our site. Thanks
So with this tool you can move all apps 2sd?

is there any risk to the apps that get moved from the phone to the SD card?
I can't download without registering, and how am i suppossed to register on a site thats in italian?
Scroll down the page and locate any post with the button "Fare il login per replicare". Click on this and you should be able to login and then download the app.
this is really nice... so far with N1.
Thanks guys!
Sorry but I can't see how to register. I've tried loging in with my twitter account but I cannot get the file. Any clue or alternative?
I have used this and it does work, however programmes that came on your phones stock rom (i am using orange 2.2 froyo) you cannot move to the sd card, for example google maps and facebook. Also i tried downloading adobe air earlier and this is 10+mb's and although it said it was on the sd card it wasn't. Could this be because it is a sytem app or is there another reason?
Cheers
how this work?
Nice work pal! works on my HTC Desire running 2.2 Froyo. Non-rooted. Quick question, how the hell does it work? does it trick it into thinking its possible to move the app to SD card?

The only ones I havent been able to move it with are the system applications, or the ones that came standard on the phone, but all the ones I have downloaded from the Market, all of them are movable now, I have about 30-40 apps/games installed.

I just finished rooting and installed root explorer and was wondering if there is any unneeded extras I can remove?

youre almost better off using PM (android package manager) in a terminal or adb shell to disable or freeze the apps you dont want. you can also do this in apps like titanium backup.
this way, you're not renaming files and later forgetting to name them back to the original files, and it'll keep your 'frozen' settings after updates.

There's advantages to freezing/disabling apps using Titanium Backup or Package Manager (built into Android system). The first one is that its built-in function and you do not have to alter filenames and have to remember to rename them back later. Secondly, I don't think it affects what apps show up in the market place. Some apps require special permissions from certain things like PHONE or CAMERA, etc. If you disable it, I believe it won't affect the marketplace, however if you rename the file, the system doesnt think its there period and will think your tablet is incompatible with the apps.
note: this really only applies to people who are renaming phone.apk, etc.

Im not gonna try this as i already have root and access to build.prop. But im gonna go ahead and say it wont work. Sure you can get to the build.prop location and file but will it even open? Its in /system and unless you have access to /system (root) then how are you going to open any files unless the system allows it? Going through files and seeing them is one thing. Opening and editing them is another.
That's right, I'm the premium potaytoman and i seek the TROOOOOF! Problem?

SEC Email FC's after removing bloat

Can anyone please upload My Magazine 1.0.0" & "My Magazine - Here and now 1.1.0" apk files? with the help of some others here I have narrowed my problems with the stock email app force closing upon clearing a notification or attempting to open the app, down to being caused by my having removed these apps thinking they were just bloat. However, it seems they are being called by the email app and are the source of my problem. Thanks to whomever comes to the rescue!
looking at mine i see Magazines.apk, MagazinesHome.apk but not what you listed.

2) If I load the 2 securemail and 2 exchange files, do I have to re-load the MYMagazine file again as well? I would really prefer NOT TO if I don't have to. I really detest and resent manufacturers putting their junk onto phones in the first place...

Firstly, sorry for not being able to link yet. Which is why copy paste:
"Installing apps on Android is relatively straightforward with the Android Market. You search for an app, select it and click install. However, there are often times when you may want to install a newly released app or an app that is not available in the Android Market. In these cases you will usually have to manually download and install an .apk file. An .apk file behaves in a similar manner to a “.exe” file on Windows, you need to copy it to your device and run it. Here are some ways that you can manually install an application without going through the market."
(-source: maketecheasier.com/install-applications-without-the-market/)
"WHAT IS AN ODEX FILE?
In Android file system, applications come in packages with the extension .apk. These application packages, or APKs contain certain .odex files whose supposed function is to save space. These ‘odex’ files are actually collections of parts of an application that are optimized before booting. Doing so speeds up the boot process, as it preloads part of an application. On the other hand, it also makes hacking those applications difficult because a part of the coding has already been extracted to another location before execution."
(-source: addictivetips.com/mobile/what-is-odex-and-deodex-in-android-complete-guide/)

Native Hotspot Assistance

Once a deodexed rom is released it will be easier to test the hotspot mod out. Because not having the phone would require someone else that can Odex the files and test. This would be a pain because you would have to do that for each test. For now I am curious about something though. Is there anyone out there with the S5 that is paying for the hotspot? If so can you configure it and connect to it at least once, if you haven't already, and send me your services.jar and services.odex? You will probably need to be rooted in order to get to the files. Don't worry there won't be any sensitive information in the files.
I tried the mod you posted, same as was done on Note 2. Not sure if it worked or not as the build had some data issues, so couldnt comnect to test. It compiled and booted fine with the line deletion at least. Was easy enough to find
Gettin frustrated with getting the deodexed working to move on. Have some issues ive never seen before. Just Play store, Hangouts and Google Calendar sync FC's. Think its a GmsCore issue

Tried to open an official hotspot thread to work on native tetheing collectively as well as a guide to different ways to tether, its only a few posts below this one.

Yeah I saw that. Thanks for sharing. I wanted this one to be specifically for getting the services files from someone that is paying for the service. So that is why I created a separate thread.

Thank you. Could you Odex your hotspot mod and try it with either your rom or stock to see if it works? If it works on Odex then you know it will work on deodexed once it is ready.
To get the native hotspot working, you need to:
update carriers set type="default,mms,dun" where apn="n.ispsn";
in the following file:
/data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/telephony.db
This is what worked for me on Sprint North America. Just got it working today, was trying all the known tricks including rebuilding framework-res.apk with no luck. Be advised however I first used a sqlite app from the market and it added a space between mms and dun which did not work. I installed the sqlite3 binary and did that SQL command from adb shell. Can do more of a walk through if needed, let me know.
Edit: miked63017 beat me to it. Here's his flashable zip: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52089811&postcount=9

Isn't this the same thing that Mike provided? If so you should give him the credit. And his flashable zip is probably safer and cleaner than replacing the database file.

His zip is admittedly different than the zip I made, mine runs a sqlite command in place, while his copies a premade db into place. Either way, lets get some feedback on how this thing is working...

Yeah but it is using the mod that you discovered. So you should be credited. And my other point is that your zip only adds the portion of the mod that is required. His replaces the entire db file which could cause issues.

It's not a big problem. I knew your zip was different. My only point is that Mike published the method of unlocking the hotspot first. So he should have been credited for finding the fix. That's it. You could have kept your zip alive if you wanted to. Although I still believe his install is safer.

Because his zip only does a sql update for the specific change that is required. You're zip replaces the entire db file. Nothing may ever come of that. But if a user had a db file which had different contents than the one you provide they would lose those changes. There is also a very slight possibility that permissions on that file could get corrupted when replacing it. Highly unlikely though. I'd be more concerned about the first possibility.

Ah, that makes sense now. Thanks.
lil update crawrj, the method we used the Note 2 doesnt fly on here. just tested on new Deodexed build. says I'm not subscribed...
and what do you know. I'm not
Would be a good idea to decompile sectelephonyprovider and see if those values in the database file can't be forced as default for all additions that have that apn field
