I'm not able to flash factory image using Toolkit - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have some problems with flashing google factory image using toolkit.
I tried 4.3 and 4.4.2. During flash proces - bootloader - i get
"An Error Occured".
My bootlaoder version is 4.23

Best thing to do is learn to use fastboot. It's really easy once you actually get doing it.
And it's a far better way to learn what exactly you are doing to your phone. Toolkits don't teach anything.
Here's a guide to help you out.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1907796
Good luck!!

Thanks. But I solved this problem changing bootloader in factory image. All seems to work fine .

Same problem here. Both my own zip (created and prerooted with PRFCreator) and this zip didn't give root, don't know what's wrong.
Found a solution: flash prerooted zip, then SuperSU, then byeselinux, then RICDefeat. If you flash everything in this exact order, you will get root and /system rw remount.

Oh I looked into updater.script and still doesnt know why it happened
Maybe we need to add RecRoot to ExtraFiles? Or just flash it after flashable rom without any other files?
And 1 question, After flashing my pre-rooted, Was there a OnOff widget from KitKat? @Buleste @inspiron2

What about log? Any errors or something?, because i still not flashed this Only created for people if someone wanted.
No errors. No indication anything went wrong. All boots well. I may have a plan once I reflash my phone though.
EDIT: Okay. I've managed to get root access installing SuperSU 2.68 as the SuperSU in PRF and adding ByeSELINUX and Ricdefeat. Tried adding Busybox but doesn't seem to want to work. I will explore further.
EDIT2: Found the problem. System not R/W and will not let me change to W/R as I have no busy box. More thinking needed.
I was installed successfully. Thanks!!!

Good thinking with the fix. I should've done that. Instead I've figured out that for whatever reason PrfCreator only adds one flashable zip and SuperSU so I have added Ricdefeat, BusyBox and xposed afterwards before rebooting. If that works then I'll add recovery.

We must search also, to keep`problem off, if people is coming from lp or a bad mm installation. As prfcreator also thats not make a wipe system we have to make a wipe system prior to flash the preroot to avoid a lp recovery that probably is giving some problems. So the thing to avoid problems should be to flash the preroot in a good working recovery, as many people on mm had a rw system mount problems from the beginning. cheers

You have cross posted in two topics, however you cant get rid of it and you need to select one. I went with Russia my language was still in English as I had it set however if it changes for you then you can always go into the settings and change it. You can also use XperiaFirm to find another regions rom and download and flash it instead.

Using Root Explorer make system to rw and then uninstall apps using Titanium Backup.
It seems I made a mistake.
I tried to dirty flash without factory reset. Flashing and first boot without issues, everything running as expected BUT recovery seems missing. I cannot enter recovery mode, I even tried to use a couple of apps (Power Menu, Flashify) to enter recovery but I always boot the normal way.
Maybe this is because I skipped the factory reset step? How can I reinstall the recovery?
Thank you for your help.

Stuck in boot sequence after root?

I can't seem to find an answer to this, but I'm running CM 13 nightlies and I've been trying to root my device, but every method I've tried leaves me in the same spot: stuck looking at the blue Cyanogen boot dude forever .
Anyone have any idea why? I can easily get in to my recovery and restart, but I just want to root the damn thing
To enable root in cm13 you don't need to flash anything just go to developers menu and allow root access for apps or apps and adb.

Delete bloatware (really delete them, not disable them) without root privileges

Hi everyone. These are the steps I've made to fully delete bloatware in the LG G4 H815.
My software version is: V20h-EUR-XX
First, you need to make a system backup in TWRP. You don't need to install the recovery, you can just boot onto it. To boot from TWRP recovery, do the next:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot boot twrp-3.0.2-1-h815.img
where twrp-3.0.2-1-h815.img is the TWRP's image downloaded from: https://dl.twrp.me/h815/twrp-3.0.2-1-h815.img.html
When you're in TWRP recovery, make a system backup (I assume you know how. It's pretty straightforward).
TWRP recovery will make a backup creating a set of files inside a directory of internal or external memory. The system backup files must start with "system" word and probably continue with ".ext4.win???", where "???" is a number sequence (i.e: 000, 001, 002, so on).
These files are just .tar files. If you didn't select compress the backup, then they can be opened directly with 7-zip. Inside every "system.ext4.win???", are the structure of android system itself. Using 7-zip, you can open a backup file to delete bloatware.
Copy all the "system.ext4.x" to pc. Using 7-zip, check every one of them and look for apps you don't want. Select those apps and just delete them, as simple as that. 7-zip will re-structure the backup file.
NOTE: I've tried to put files inside the backup file but 7-zip crashed.
Once you've deleted all crap, you must copy back to phone, all the modified backup files. Put them in the same directory as the original.
The "system.info" file is not need. It is only used to inform you in the restore process how is going on. You can open it with a text editor and change the backup_size. This value is the size of all "system.ext4.x" files.
Once again, restart into TWRP recovery (explained below) and make a restore.
It works flawlessly for me.
Any help you need, just scream out.

But isn't fastboot protected from single boot unsigned images either? If not we can actually root all marshmallow G4s as it would be as simple as reflashing kernel every reboot which sounds awesome

It is not about backdoor. Locked bootloader doesn't allow to boot to TWRP. I tried booting from rooted system.img using Linux to integrate,. I can use only rooted system.img but it will never allow to use root in data or other partitions. So system will be partially rooted not fully. H815 users have to unlock bootloader to use root fully fuctional.
For the damn of LG, I am still waiting for unlocking bootloader of my model (H815TR)

Indeed its not a backdoor. If you have unlocked bootloader you can flash anything you want. Either signed or not, you can also boot such images as you're doing. You are right as you can delete system apps without having rooted phone but I think you didn't mention you have unlocked your bootloader I'm also waiting for some exploit to root locked G4 even if I can unlock mine, but I want to do it after Nougat, so still some months left [emoji14]

[V29a only] I managed to relock the bootloader without any backups.

While using the v29a ROM, @kessaras said it should be possible to lock the bootloader using "fastboot oem lock", which didn't work for me on any ROM. I decided to give it a try anyways and it actually worked! It wiped my data, and after restoring and all that I rebooted the phone to see if it was actually locked. "fastboot getvar unlocked" gave me a result of "no". Try it out, but beware, your data will be lost. Proof video: https://youtu.be/Tr6E9LaGWRs Before doing this make sure EVERYTHING is stock! This includes custom recoveries. I do not claim any responsibility if anything goes wrong!
Steps (assuming you already have v29 rom installed):
1. Download ADB and fastboot, along with LG drivers (if you don't have them). Connect your phone and start CMD. CD to the folder where your adb and fastboot files are. (pretty obvious isn't it? )
2. Type "adb reboot bootloader".
3. Type "fastboot oem lock". This WILL wipe your data, and I'm NOT responsible for it!
4. Enjoy your locked phone.
Interesting to say the least, is there any drm locked content that you now can use? (not sure if g4 has any)
Tbh you can relock even without loosing data (at least on LL and MM).
Just reflash the misc partition from either a previous backup (recommended) or from a extracted stock kdz partition will do so.
You should backup misc and the persistent partition before doing so just for the case.
Never written it down because I thought its something no one would like to do but that's verified to work...

no - not every partition u see in a KDZ will be flashed.
Especially when you have an unlocked bootloader.
well the fastboot command will erase all data. flashing misc not nvm i don't care about which is better just wanted to add that there is a method which works on LL and MM (fastboot command will not work there).

Then unlock back the bootloader with the unlock.bin and flash the stock recovery from the ZIP file of V29a (which should've flashed by itself, did you remove it?) and only then lock the bootloader. Well, I guess you hard bricked your phone. You had modified firmware(TWRP, kernel) and relocked. Not even surprised you're phone is bricked. Only shot would be send it to LG but they will 99% know you messed with firmware
