[Q] New N3, but Should I update to kitkat - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All
Just unpacked my new unlocked UK/EU Note 3 and its still on its 1st charge, however, I traded my S4 when I upgraded my contract and the KK on the S4 was abysmal and buggeed...
Question:
Is KK on the Note 3 as broken and would you recommend me to update to 442 or just flash the latest 4.3 in ODIN
Thanks

Depends on various things, KK on the Note is fine but JB was also -- I assume it has JB on it hence the KK question? cause you cannot downgrade to JB if KK is already only on it.

My recommendation, stay at 4.3 if you don't have any problems. I only update to kk, because Deepsleep problem in 4.3.
After updating to KitKat I don't have the Deepsleep issue.
The SD CARD permission crap for most 3rd party apps is not important for me
If for you, than stay at 4.3

No, my N3 comes with XXUBMI6 (4.3) dated 11th Sept 2013 at bootup, but this is my works phone for my business, so I want 442 stock to be ok. I have read that theres an Update called MD6 which fixes the bugs of MD5, as long as i get good battery and for the N3 to function as it should then ill just update, but im asking if anyone has had any real issues with KK 442, like the issues on the S4 KK?
Thanks,

All i use the SD card for is Photos, which is connected to OneDrive and Music, nothing else.. so like you I didnt have an issue on the SD either, But it sounds like 442 is fine, Ive just been burned by the s4 crap, and am a bit apprehensive..

99 out of 100 users have zero issues with KK on the N3 - I had no issues either. - Go for the update.

Thanks Friend., will do, appreciated.. Just my shiney new N3.. hehe. Wouldnt want to see it broken

Note 3 ist the Best phone for me, with 4.3, and also with 4.4.2
Can't say bad things about 4.4.2, but can't say..... go quickly and update your phone because KitKat sounds good or had any new features and so on. Both runs very good..... only Deepsleep was a problem.
If you make a update, do it right at first time. Spend some time an reset it before, use the recovery mode, wipe cache, use Odin and update your phone. Again reset via recovery mode

Ive flashed using ODIN before so i know how it goes
Cheers

Good luck and enjoy your nice phone

Just to add.
If you are on JB, you have possibility to root (and also update to KitKat with root) without triggering the KNOX. However, on KitKat, there is currently no way to root by not killing the KNOX.

[Q] Android 4.2.2 versions

Hei guys !
I'm new on this Nexus 4 forum( i've just purchased my N4) and want to know if there are different versions of 4.2.2 for N4 depending on the region, or there is only one version for every N4 in the world.
Kinda noobish question. Sorry.:silly:
I just realized i've posted in the wrong section.Sorry
1. Just update to 4.3 and ignore 4.2.2
2.?????
3. Profit

At first , out of the box the phone came with 4.2.2
After a few days I've decided to go for the 4.3 update. Installed the update from the phone , but it seemed to drain battery pretty fast. And flashed back to 4.2.2
But i'm not sure if there are specific 4.2.2 firmwares for my country or there is only one firmware for all N4 devices

AFAIK, there are no such region specific firmwares for Nexus 4.
you can flash any custom rom 4.3 based and with kernel you like and you wont get problems. :good:
I had read, after updating to 4.3 through system update a factory reset was recommended in order to avoid such issues.

Thanks for the reply.
I don't want to root because I don't want to void my warranty. And about the factory reset after 4.3 update, I did do that, but still the battery was worse than on 4.2.2
Maybe I should of kept 4.3 for a few days to see how the phone settles with the new update. I dunno.

questions about KNOX void+ update

Hello!
I have a S4 i9505. It's rooted and it runs a FoxHound rom 4.3 based.
Now that the new kitkat has officially come out, I would like to update to the official firmware using odin etc etc.
I looked up in download mode and I have 0x1 flag in KNOW WARRANTY VOID.
Now my question is: can I install from odin the official 4.3 firmware in this status? or will I get it unfunctional?
I don't know if this question is common or not, but, as I've seen a mess reguarding Knox troubles, I decided to ask directly.
Thanks a lot.
You can flash it without problems. If you have problems then flash modem + bootloader also

ahhhh my gosh I read again the message and I found out I wrote something stupid;
my question is can I install 4.4 with Odin ? is the problem on the eventual downgrade?
thanks a lot and sorry for that
Actually i read 4.4.2 so my post is based on that yes you can install 4.4.2 via odin. You may encounter wifi issues or lockscreen issues, then you have to flash the matching bootloader and modem

S III owner --> New to S IV

Hi guys,
So, I just got an S IV today, as a replacement for my beloved S III.
As I've been running CM11 for a long time on my S III, I'd like to keep it that way on my S IV.
However, I've been looking a bit in the forums, and as I got the official 4.4.2 on my S IV, I see that I might be running into some problems, due to Knox - Or will I?
As far as I've understood, I just have to be sure not to flash something that downgrades or installs another bootloader, correct?
If a kind person can clearify for me, that I just can go ahead and do an auto-root, flash a custom recovery and a custom CM11 build - Or what I should avoid, that would be perfect.
Thank you in advance
Your only problem will be that your warranty will be voided if you flash a custom recovery. Other than that there should be no big issues if you are using aosp roms.

Scumbag Sammy.. But I guess it's almost the same as the flash-counter on my SIII.
Anyway, then there's no chance of bricking and so on?
And if I choose to go back to official Sammy software, I will have to only upgrade, not downgrade?
Well there is always a minimal chance of bricking but if you read the instructions carefully then you will be fine.
Just search for a custom recovery and flash it via odin. Then install the rom you want.
You will not be able to downgrade but in my opinion KitKat is good

Yes it's the same flash counter ? Very difficult to brick as long as you follow guides ?
If you want to go back official you can use odin & correct there's no way to downgrade only stay same or upgrade when next version comes up ?

Flash the latest ROM, this would be Android 4.4.2, not 4.2.2

When you already runned android 4.4.2 or 4.3 you cannot flash 4.2.2 because of locked bootloader. Like Tkkg1994 said, take a 4.4.2 one

Help with Xposed for Galaxy A3 (A300FU)

Hi.
I need a little help with Xposed, but before I get to what help I need I'll give you a little background info.
I have the Galaxy A3 (A300FU) and it's actually the first smartphone I've ever owned (I know I'm a bit late to the party). When I got it it had kitkat installed which I promptly rooted. I then found out about xposed and installed it and some modules. Recently my carrier, EE, finally released their lollipop upgrade (5.0.2) so I downloaded it from Sam mobile and flashed it over with odin. I then rooted using the method I found here of using the kitkat autoroot and then flashing the correct recovery to get rid of the error it caused. This left me with a working rooted phone running 5.0.2 lollipop however if I turned the phone off while it was charging it automatically rebooted into recovery. I read various ways of fixing this but since I wanted to use the TWRP recovery anyway I went and flashed that too. This also fixed the issue of the phone rebooting into recovery.
Now comes the issue with Xposed. When I had kitkat I installed xposed and a few modules like wanam and everything worked fine. However now I have lollipop it's telling me it doesn't support 64 bit architecture. I looked into this and found a lot of threads that were talking about using an unofficial version of xposed and needing deodexed roms anyway. However when I was using kitkat I was using an odexed rom and I had no issues with it. Also the unofficial xposed that I have found seems to be for 5.1.1 or 5.1.2 not 5.0.2.
Is there a version of xposed that will work on my A300FU running 5.0.2 and if so do I need to deodex my rom first? If so how do I go about doing that? Also could someone tell me why xposed worked with my odexed kitkat rom (I'm just curious about the inner workings) since everything I have read seems to indicate that it shouldn't have worked then either?
Many thanks in advance and sorry for such a long winded beginning I just wanted to explain exactly where I'm at with it and to give an idea of what I've done before so you can get an idea if what I should know how to do.
Thanks again.
I hate to bump but it's been a while since I posted.
Does anyone have any help for me? Really missing some of the things that I used to have with Xposed.
You might give this a shot: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/unofficial-xposed-samsung-lollipop-t3113463/ you'll need to deodex first

I tried to deodex using the TUTO on here but had no success. Just ended up with a bootloop.
Also after doing a little research I have come to the conclusion that because my device is running ARMv7 that it must be 32 bit. However I'm also being told that I'm running 64 bit so I'm a little confused as to whether I should install the 32 bit Xposed or the 64 bit Xposed if and when I manage to deodex my ROM.
I managed to get it running:
