[Q] All on board storage tied up in "system memory" - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My girlfriends note three just gave her a low memory notification over the weekend. To my surprise storage is showing 29 gigs of the factory 32 tied up in "system memory". I can't seem to figure out what is taking up so damn much space. The phone is running hyper drive Version 7. I'm sure I'm leaving out some kind of important information so just ask. Thanks.

My guess that this has something to do with the ROM Slots in safestrap? Boot into recovery - is this rom on the stock slot? I always install to the stock slot so I have all memory available to me unlike installing to the other slots.

Didn't even think of that. I bet that's what the problem is. I'm pretty sure I left the stock slot alone. Thanks. I'll check it out.

What Is The Benefit Of Partitioning An SD card

So I have been reading in some post about partitioning your mirco SD card. I just wanted to know why people are doing this and what the benefit to the user is.

fat32= for loading roms and standard storage
ext3 or 4= for apps2sd: where programs are stored and ran
linux_swap = for a swap file to increase ram
now has that answer your ?
cause two halves are better than a whole.

lol... but it still makes up the same crap whole lol.
Oh man... Anyone watch Man vs food? Dude ate a 7lb burrito with everything... talk about a "hole" lol..
Oh wait... Sd card? I thougth we were talking about tacos.
If you have flashed a new rom, but didnt know anythign about partitioning your sd card then you jumped to soon my friend.
i call bs when you say you have done some reading.
So a new guy who can't do a forum search can do a barrel roll.
Benefit for most people is it allows you to run your apps off your SD card giving you virtually unlimited amount of room for apps. Most of us also use a linux-swap partition which many of the roms use to speed things up.

The most random thing...

this is not question just posting a weird situation that happened to me earlier... i have the latest MikFroyo installed that includes the JS power control bar in the pull down menu... well everything was fine beforehand and i was reading up on how to mod it to add/remove toggle switches. So i went about making the changes but didnt make a nandroid thinking this was a simple change and should be fine and when i rebooting low and behond every app i had downloaded was gone or at least in the app drawer(still showed in settings-manage apps). I don't use apps2sd(my sd card was not formatted for it either) and the phone kept saying the memory card was "unexpectedly removed" even though it was clearly still mounted in the phone... The modification worked miraculously but then i removed the mod i added to see if it would revert back but of course that didn't fix it so i just bit my tongue as i reformatted my sd card and phone which of course had only one minor important thing on it... my NFS Shift game progress!!!! U live and u learn i guess... anyhow wish i knew wat the hell gave my phone alzheimers lol...
Bad flash, it happens. Its happened to me a few times. Thats what nandroid is for, and its a good idea to back up your sd sometimes.

Anyone have any idea what this is, or should I just go call an exorcist?
seems ur phone's sdcard or external sd card is infected.
there are two alternates::
1) scan ur memories with antivirus by connecting it with pc and after that reset ur phone)
or
2)format both ur memories.
Make reset of ur phone ( go to settings/privacy/factory reset)
Hopefuly ur problem ll be gone. Nd next time make sure to ask questions in question answers sub forum
or should I just go call an exorcist?

Only if he is good in formatting a SD card Because there is just 'something' corrupt...
Try to back up everything, (maybe trough your phone?)...
If that doesn't work try to do the error check (properties>hardware>scan voor errors)...
If that doesn't work you can format the disk (not quick!), and the problem should be solved
I should also mention that the SGS in question is Bell's i9000m... Maybe the internal SD is about to fail?
that definitely looks like a corrupted SD card
you can try to reformat it, and see how much longer it'll live until it dies completely
Aw damn, I forgot to knock on wood. Internal SD is dead again, second SGS. ):

[Q] Stock Nexus 4 Out of space error

I'm using a Completely Stock Nexus 4. Not Rooted.
My phone suddenly started giving me the low memory warning, and I deleted stuff of about 500 mb, but still when I try to install an app, even very small ones, I get an error saying "could not be installed, free up some space and try again." After that, I got the 4.3 update, (dalvik cache is erased). The error is still showing. Please help.

This error doesn't just show up on stock it shows up on custom roms as well, It's basically telling u to delete a gig or more of apps. Sometimes a factory reset or full wipe is required to fix this issue

Try offloading pictures or videos. Also, if you have a custom recovery, try deleting extra nandroids.
My phone is completely stock, no root, no custom recovery. Yet. Please help, I don't want to factory reset!

8GB or 16GB Nexus 4?
thats how its supposed to be. the phone needs 500mb free in the sd storage, for caches and other files. itll give you that warning around 500mb.

[Q] SafeStrap Storage

Hey Everyone!
Today I flashed SHOstock via SafeStrap v3.71 (MK2). I had a lot of internal storage. However, after flashing the ROM to rom-slot-1, I get a persistent message on the notification panel stating that "storage space is running low".
Storage apps in the app store say that I have 8.1 GB of internal storage, but the phone's storage settings states that I only have 145 MB of available space.
14.44 GB is being devoted to system memory which seems like an incredibly high amount.
Could someone explain what is going on and how I could rectify this issue?
Thank you in advance!
16gb phones have around 9.5 useable and 32gb phones have 22gb or so. Nothing we can do.

I understand that, however I have more free space than the rom in safestrap is showing. That is the problem.
When I open storage with the slot1 rom, this is what I see:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
However, this is how much space I should have:
Don't you adjust the size of it when you create a rom slot? Whatever the slot size that you create will depend on what your free space will be. That is my understanding anyway.
