Yes you can, since it's the same as flashing stock firmware in Odin if you had a Samsung device before

Yeah but Odin is Samsung's official flasher/repair called ODIN MULTI FLASHER tool i don't think that Sony is supporting flash-tool...
when i debranded my i just used the build version 1270-7689 generic UK i just edited /system/biuld.prop and use pc companion to flash the debranded rom. much safer.

Yes it's but they don't support the versions available for us end users. Odin available here and there is a leak of the Samsung Odin which leaked some years ago and then developers have added a windows UI to it and made it available for us. No but I think it's the same here, some guy found a leaked Sony tool and then made a new one himself to suit the needs of us users. This is just my thoughts about Flashtool thought and not sure if it's true.
Edit: I had right, Sony is offering a Flashtool them self. http://developer.sonymobile.com/services/flash-tool/ so he/she didn't even need to get inspiration from a leaked one, but an official tool made by Sony.
Well you do it your way, but I'm offering this as a help to users that both want to unbrand or save their device from a semi brick.
But it's up to the user.

I don't know actually I guess that the root exploits that exist works on that version too and otherwise you could backup TA partition unlock bootloader, root with an su.zip then restore ta and wola a root that works on all versions and you'll still have locked bootloader and drm keys

Here's the C6602 FTF file for the indian unbranded version if anyone is interested
- All the bloatware can be uninstalled except for two apps which can be disabled so the firmware is pretty clean in terms of that
Note:
I think we should just have one big thread for all the ftf versions for the C6602/C6603 model, ill try adding up more links over the course of the month
If anyone has links for other c6602 firmwares, just send me a quick pm, ill update the thread.

I would be much better if the ftf is uploaded in other hosts like mediafire or such which supports resumable downloading! Mega is very restricted and I don't know why people opt for it, it doesn't allow to use a custom download manager too! I use IDM and have failed 4 times as my network connection is poor! Very disappointed!

You made me laugh, really. Didn't I mention that I have a poor network connection and besides that not everyone in this world could download at 6 megabytes/sec if you did so. And if I could afford such a plan then why would I be asking? I repeat man, I have a slow connection so that I can resume and download when it stops or fails. You get it? If you have a poor bandwidth then not alone Mega, even God can't send the file to you even though if it's the fastest in this world.

OTA won't be available for this firmware! When the update is just incremental, you will have the update via OTA. Like this update, when certain hardware elements ar updated like the baseband and such, Sony will require you to update only via PCC to avoid any corruptions and also as the update will be bigger and a complete one. So flash via flashtool or PCC, wait till someone comes up with a root exploit. Cheers!

Thanks. I'll try Emma again soon. Ironic really - Emma is a Sony developer tool which is meant to give updates a bit sooner than the usual methods
For those of us that are on Cyanogen, is there any way of finding out if the FTF has any important firmware updates in there?
I can rename the .370 FTF to ZIP and see all the sin files, but the vast majority I am unsure about.
Otherwise, I can always nandroid and do it that way

Relock your BL or wait for a ftf.
The problem is not using a custom rom and update with pcc (the rom doesn't matter but the kernel yes), it's when your bl is unlocked you can't update via SUS/PCC no more.

When you flash a ftf file with flashtool, deselect DATA in the wipe section (box in top right corner). That will preserve your data when you flash.

Ok, sounds like a good compromise
When someone uses PCC to download the firmware, is a local copy stored?
Just wondering what the chances of getting this file are!
I like everything is this update, except the recent apps tray. Swiping away should always be 'swipe across' not 'swipe up or down'.
Few new features might have been nice, but can't complain. At least it's arrived!
It also has the thumb keyboard!

Hi,
here is the flashable *.zip file wich installs latest Sony Bugfix Release of Stock 5.1.1 Lollipop ROM 23.4.A.0.570 (Japan), latest SuperSu v2.49 beta (works stable for me since weeks!) and latest NUT Dualrecovery 2.8.21 with read and write access to system. Because device is Wi-Fi only region doesn´t matter. Only difference is maybe pre installed bloatware by region.
Thx to PRF Creator and Flashtool.
UPDATE - FILE DELETED. Please use Release from kulvertti
Of course i tested the release before uploading on my own Device. So far no errors found after upgrading.
I am not responsible for any damage to your Device or your Data! Be careful and make a Backup before flashing!

By the way, do you have the MD5 checksum of this file? I hate to download a corrupted file. Thanks.
No. The Checksum Creation is not needed and only optional at PRF Creator. Never needed it for myself.
I'd also like the MD5. After I download, I'll post it. But if anyone else already has it, please post.
Here's what I show:
d00b36c07fa696f5803eb7671be2c518
Obviously, it could have an error and be corrupted, but I expect it's right. I guess if I flash it OK, then we'll know.
Couldn't the "No service"in the lockscreen be fixed by a module in xposed, like Xperia Xposed? I know the author would have to add it, but there's no harm in suggesting it?

Thanks, that's exactly what I got too.
For SHA1, it is: ba2f453b13c77b848cac3ce32bd2616b0676ab3e
For SHA256, it is: dd3717a745833e53e10cb14700b29172efc76c2a15a6689329131daf0b847230
Now, I am going to flash and test it out.:good:
Flashed fine for me. Thanks, redlabour.

Couldn't the "No service"in the lockscreen be fixed by a module in xposed, like Xperia Xposed? I know the author would have to add it, but there's no harm in suggesting it?

Tested and did not see much difference, the "No Service" in the lockscreen still there. Sony is either blind or deaf - did not see the bug itself or not listen to the users.:crying:
quick question
Sorry for the amateur hour question, but I am 100% new to this rooting bussiness.
Do I need to Root my Z2 tablet before I do this?
Is there anywhere a ELI5 guide for someone who has never rooted a device before and is therefore ignorant about all the terms (Prerooted, ROM, Kernel, Flashing, etc)
my tablet is updated to 5.1.1 build 23.4.A.0.546
Sorry for being a pain, and thanks in advnce for any guidance.
BTW, I already tried using KingRoot and it fails at about 16%

No gurantee. Better pack your own with the Tools from first Post. It's easy.
Just flashed .570 last night and this morning I'm not getting 5gHz Wi-Fi. My dual band router is serving both bands to other devices, so that works; it's successfully serving my SGP511 at 2.4gHz. Anybody else? More importantly, any ideas how to diagnose the problem (I'm stumped)?
Check your Router. No problems here using 2.4 and 5.

No problem, start from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2794175
Download and flash the dualrecovery, and you are almost there.

You're being misguided here a little bit.
You will not be able to install dual recovery because you will not be able to gain root. Your device is having lollipop, so exploits used to for gaining root will not work in your case.
What you need to do is to downgrade from LP to some kitkat version where the exploits will work. Then you'll be able to install dual recovery and only after that you'll be able to flash pre-rooted lollipop.
To downgrade you need to use FTF from FTF collection (version prior to or equal 17.1.A.0.402)
