[Q] Odin & Set Partition? - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
Trying to go to KK from Beans 4.3. Followed all steps and have used Odin before. When I go to flash the KK FW, this is what I am getting, every time. Has anyone else ever seen this? If so, what did you do to get rid of it and have the flash go as planned? I posted in the Beans KK thread too about this, but thought this question might be better served here. I also tried using the PIT file as well, but it only gets as far as you see in the image and then everything stops. Any insights are appreciated, as I am just stuck on 4.3.
Thanks

You just need to flash the .pit file as well. Not a huge deal. I believe it's in the master odin guide etc.
Edit: Just reread it. Try doing just the .pit first then. The one for 4.3

Secure Check Fail when trying to restore with Odin

Alright, so I've been doing rooting things for a long time...and never have I had this many problems. I posted something here earlier about rooting my S4, installing ROMs and having it hang on the Samsung Galaxy S4 Screen. So I figured I would try booting with Odin and re-installing a stock image. No luck. I keep getting this show up on my Galaxy S4 when I click start -- "secure check failed" and Odin shows a fail.
I don't even know where to go from here because I'm looking at an expensive paperweight at this point. Has anyone ever seen this before or even know where I can start. Any help would really be appreciated...at this point I just feel defeated.

I always get firmware from sammobile.com. Download the firmware ending in mdl. It'll be a zip file. Use 7-zip to extract the .tar.md5 file from it and use that in Odin.

I'll download the firmware there and see if that solves my issue. Is there any way this could be related to the kernel? If I restore this firmware I will lose my root, correct?

You will lose root. Odin should put everything back on like it was new. You do have to register on sammobile to download the firmware, but it's free.

[Solved] Sprint GS4 Stock SecPhone.apk Needed PLEASE!

Hi All,
I REALLY screwed up and need some help....I have a stock rooted Sprint GS4 running 4.3 MK5, and I was out looking for a mod to allow incall recording, I followed a link on here that said it had a fix for this and it worked on the Sprint version of my phone, so I did a Full Titanium Backup thinking that would restore my phone if I had any problems, but it has been a while since I have played around with roms and mods and forgot about doing a Nandroid Backup....anyway... the file I flashed was supposed to replace my SecPhone.apk with a modded one that Increases call volume and allows for call recording....so I flashed it, but when I rebooted I know get an error that reads "Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped." with an "OK" button, when I hit the ok my whole system is very slow and unstable or just plain non responsive!
So I am looking for a fix, maybe someone has the stock sprint version of that SecPhone.apk that I can put back on my phone? Or the link to a modded APK that will give me what I was looking for to begin with?
At this point my phone is totally unusable so hopefully I can come up with a fix soon!
Or does anyone have a link to a stock 4.3 MK5 rom I can flash back on my phone?
Thanks in advance for any help with this!

Download a flashable zip file for a stock ROM for your device and pull it from there. That is the simplest and fastest way to get it bro. Another option is to use Moblile Odin to flash a stock tar, without wiping data and cache. I do it whenever I encounter a problem and it works fine.

SamMobile.com for the .tar file. You can find your MK5 somewhere here on XDA. I'm sure of that.

Yep, I also found it at SamMobile, downloading it now.... One question, when I load this tar file is it going to break my root? If so I will just have to root it again correct?

Thanks for all the Help guys....I flashed the Tar file this morning and all is well....I was surprised to see all my programs and setting still intact (except for root of course)....Now to just find a working solution for the Call recording and Hotspot....worse case I will just flash the TriForce Rom but I wanted to keep it primarily stock for now until I get used to the new phone.
MANY Thanks Again!

[Q] Help rooting NK2

Anybody rooted NK2? My Galaxy S4 Developers Edition phone was stolen on a recent airplane flight (fell asleep and when I deplaned the phone was missing) . Assurion couldn't replace the phone so they sent me a new S5, but it came with NK2 installed. Waiting for a Nexus 6 to purchase...

Its been out about a day I believe... Hopefully we'll still be able to root this one using the same methods from before. You can try if you want.

If the bootloader has not been incremented, we'll be able to regain root on NK2 once there's an ODIN flashable NK2 kernel. So basically, I don't believe it's possible just yet.

Everytime I try to download towelroot (both on my computer and on my GS5), the .apk is blocked as a virus package.
The S5 really doesn't like the website for towelroot, and google searches for the apk also get blocked by Symantec. Has this apk been compromised or has it contained a Trojan all along?
Any thoughts or suggestions?

Wow, even Dropbox kills the file...
After I disabled my antivirus (Symantec) and tried to restore the file, I get security errors ALL OVER THE PLACE on my desktop computer.
*** UPDATE ***
Well, I was able to get tr.apk onto my SDcard and then successfully obtain root!
I don't know what the issue is with towelroot, but my clock on my desktop was reset and the internet time server could not correctly rsynch the time; I had to manually reset the time.
It's pretty scary when this happens...I don't know if it is a false positive Trojan detection or what, but I sure hope somebody more knowledgeable has reverse engineered the tr.apk and validated that it is safe!
OH Well, thanks everybody. Keeping fingers crossed!!!
I Can't wait to get a fully unlocked Nexus 6 (and hopefully prevent VZ from locking it like they try with the Developers Edition devices)!!! Maybe its time to switch carriers.

One more shot if you haven't tried already. Flash the full NCG tar from here to see if you can at least get root back and then flash the NI2 firmware. If that works install a NI2 stock or custom ROM.

Bummer. I might have got it wrong but there are a few saying it can be done. According to this post you need to flash NE9 first. Flash the NK2 kernel at the end instead of NI2 if you want NK2. Hopefully that works.

Not true...I was able to root a brand new GS5 NK2 using the described procedure (with hesitation from downloading Towelroot). If ODIN is failing it means something is wrong with your flashing procedure. Try another computer/cable and make sure that whatever you are using has the Samsung USB drivers installed.
For reference I used ODIN v. 3.0.7 instead of the latest version.

Require help if possible

Hi,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505G which I flashed a custom rom on about a year or so ago.
I have since tried to update/flash it again with no joy. My baseband version is (meant to add my baseband when my phone loaded, it didn't.... Its something like MEA on the end.
I tried updating it so many ways, all different roms, stocks, baseband updates, god knows what else and I spend a lot of time on it also.
When ever I try to flash a stock rom using ODIN it fails. I recently tried to flash 5.1 I9505GUEUDOH2 Full Restore hoping it would just solve all my issues but now I seem to be in a boot loop.
I honestly don't know why this has happened.
Please can some one give me some advice or point me in the right direction?
Sorry if this is in the wrong section.

Okay, so I managed to sort a sort of fix, I guess.
I used odin in download mode to flash twrp recover using BL. I launched into recovery and installed a I9505 rom onto my phone. So its currently working and I will probably leave as is in worry that if I continue to mess around I may brick it for good lol

N910TUVS2EQE2 Firmware & Modem!

I made these ODIN Flashable Firmware and Modem files for myself. And figured I'd share them here for anyone wanting to upgrade their phone without having to download the entire ROM!
**** Warning!!! FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! XDA or I am not Responsible for ANY Destruction!! ****
Install Directions:
The procedure I use to install these is, In Odin Untick 'AutoReboot', then load Modem file into AP slot, Flash! When complete, Pull battery for 5 sec. Then REBOOT into Download Mode Again.
Then in Odin, load Firmware file into AP slot, Flash! When Complete, REBOOT!
Done!
N910T ONLY!!
Firmware/Bootloader:
Firmware-N910TUVS2EQE2-Firmware.tar.md5
Modem/Baseband:
Modem-N910TUVS2EQE2-Modem.tar.md5
N910T3 ONLY!!
Firmware/Bootloader:
Firmware-N910T3UVS3EQE2-Firmware.tar.md5
Modem/Baseband:
Modem-N910T3UVS3EQE2-Modem.tar.md5
Enjoy!!

Edit. I think they are for t only. Could you upload for t3 or explain which files to use? Can I just extract from official fimware and flash the .bin in odin? If yes, which files should I extract?

Im a little unsure about your question, so ill try to answer best I can.
Yes this can be flashed with any rom, rom doesnt matter, this is flashed in Odin! It updates your Bootloader and Modem! BUT you must pay attention to what your ROM states. Some ROMS dont work Good with certain Firmware.
About the baseband, This would update it.
Since Im new to the N910T model, Im unsure about the downgrade procedure. So You might want to check that your model can be downgraded back to DOK2 once you update. Just in case your rom dont play nice with new Firmware!!
Hope this answered your question! I added install directions to OP

I would highly recommend you start a new thread for this, there are many reasons why a phone could be doing this and you need
to provide more information, like what happened before the phone was restarted, did you have a stock rom or a custom rom, were you trying to flash anything when it started restating, were you rooted, can you boot into recovery or download mode...all these things factor but like I said I would definitively start a new thread because your hijacking someone Else's and it has nothing to do with the topic.

Yes bud, you'd get better responses making your own post in question area. As I'm not on here a lot. And only people visiting this thread are few to download this link. I just seen your post.
But since I am here I'll try my best to answer you.
Judging by your post, I'm gonna assume your were on pure stock and took an Ota that went bad? Correct?
2. If you used Odin, and noticed you didn't mention getting errors.
So it leads me to ask are you using this firmware here, because this isn't the complete rom. And that's what you want!
Let me know if this is correct? Plus explain more detail? Model T or T3? Last update you were on and file you tried flashing?
And I'll help you get correct file and such.
EQE2 Modem only on DOK2 base 5.1.1 Rom?
Anyone flash just the Modem as per my title over top a Lollipop build and get any better reception or otherwise results or is this a big no go?
There are new firmware and modem QG1, hope they can be uploaded.-

Think u' re wrong, you've said to flash bootloader in AP slot (i knew in BL). Modem baseband is CP. AP is for recovery.
