[Q] Sim Card swap question - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have searched and searched, and I am sure you will post a link which will be great... I have a MHS291L from Mellinicom (Verizon). I am wanting to ditch the device but keep the service. I am interested in purchasing a Verizon Note 3 and using the SIM card in the phone. Is that possible? I currently use the MHS291L and jump off the wifi with my Tmobile GS3, which I want to get rid of... Would rather have 1 device in my pocket than 2. Thanks for your help in advance

[Q] Unlocked Galaxy Tab International Version

Hello Folks
Would love your feed back on following questions:
1) I came across a Unlock Galaxy Tab International Version and I was wondering if I would be able to use it with a pre paid sim card to get voice and text messaging on ATT network without modifying the stock rom on it?
2) If I choose to modify the rom, what would you recommend I use. I read the newbie guide but not sure it has reached a conclusion on what works best for both voice and data?
3) If I want to be able to access data and voice, what would be the "economical" plan prepaid or postpaid that you would recommend?
If you would like link other thread that might answer my questions, your help is much appreciated
Thanks in Advance
Regards,
i own a us tmobile tab which i was able to unlock, i went out and bought an att prepaid card just to test to see if the tab was actually locked, i started with the $25 prepaid and all i can tell you is that it all the funds disappeared in less than a day, i have no clue why, i was only able to test it with 2 phone calls and about 3 tries to go online. not sure if its worth it so you might have to go with a contract but then again not sure if you want that as att is a pain in the ass and giving customers with the tab a big hassle.
I don't see why not. You can use it on both Att and Tmobile.
Tmo has prepaid service including voice and sms for about $0.13 per minute. If you pay in advance $100 you will get $0.10 per minute good for whole year.
Att likes to charge you evry month.
Hello,
Just wanted to update my original post.
1) I picked up the international version of Samsung Galaxy Tab, and it seems to have capability to join either CDMA or GSM network, which I was pleasantly surprised to find as it gives options of network providers.
2) Popped in my prepaid sims from Puretalk USA which uses ATT network but Edge Network for prepaid calling and after going into settings and picking the network, I was able to make and receive calls on it
3) The phone came unlocked, but its not rooted so not sure if I should root it?
Please advice on point 3
Regards
Rooting is not necessary unless you want full control over your Tab.
You will be able to
- remove apps and services you are not using,
- install firewall,
- make full backup of your Tab
- upgrade to a better firmware yourself etc.
Basically, you will gain ability to do whaterver you want including bricking it.
It is a matter of choice and absulutely not mandatory. Typically stock software is not bad.

[Q] Looking for Answers

I want to purchase the Galaxy Note unlocked. I have many questions that I hope someone could answer. I will need a SIM card and was planning on using Straight Talk pre-paid. I will use the note most of the time with a wi-fi connection at home and work. I will not have a phone number to transfer to it. My basic question is will i get a functioning phone (text, talk, and data) by purchasing the Note unlocked, a SIM card and some kind of pre-paid plan for around 50.00 per month?

Click to collapse
if the note is unlocked... whatever sim you decide on will work with whatever stuff comes with it... you will have to set up the apn to get the mms and internet to work... theres threads all over this forum with the settings..

[Q] SIM unlock??

Hello everyone.
Apologies in advance if this isn't the proper place to post this...
I have the Galaxy S4 through US Cellular (Model # SCH-R970). I am going on a cruise soon and am curious if there is anything that I can do to avoid crazy expensive charges and still be able to use my device. I asked around and someone told me to carrier/SIM unlock my device and get a new SIM card in the new country I am going to...is this accurate? I have rooted my device before, but haven't attempted to unlock it. When you get a new SIM card do you still have to purchase minutes/etc. If anyone can give me some broad information about the subject, I would much appreciate it : ) Thanks!!!

Question about carrier updates

I was wondering if I would get the recent update because I am using a At&t S8+ on Cricket. I did some searching and a lot of people have said that I should still receive the update even though I am using a Cricket sim card, while some say I won't unless I have a active At&t sim card in it. If that is the case I should be able to just go get a gophone sim card and get a cheap 2$ one day plan and use it to receive updates? I heard you can go to Best Buy and they should be able to update it for you but never done that before and was wondering also if they would be able to do that as well, thanks!
if all else fails use their smart switch or whatever it's called.

Dual Sim Verizon

Hey guys, I just got this phone today. In sim 1 verizon works good, no problems with great speeds for the area. My question is for the 2nd slot i wanted to use my sim from my work phone, also verizon. Im always on call for work (property management maintenance) and wanted to be able to carry one phone instead of 2 all the time, i know i can do call forwarding and all, but rather have both in one phone for that just in case type of thing. Anyhow my question is is there a possibility to force the phone to see the 2nd verizon sim and only use it for voice and text. Not worried about data cause my company isnt on the unlimited data yet but my personal line is. If theres anything i can do please help me lol. I tried to search around without luck, maybe someone has some info. Thank you guys!!
I think only slot 1 has cdma capabilities
