[Q] AT&T friendly variants? - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I currently have the AT&T variant of the galaxy s5 and I would like to get replacement that I can root, I know that most all variants are compatible on the gsm side but I would only want one that would be compatible with LTE on AT&T of course as well. Could someone please let me know the variants that would work on the LTE network for AT&T please. Thanks in advance!!

I suggest T-Mobile's variant, which is what I use on AT&T's LTE network with no problems.

Why just not get T-Mobile's version?

Great idea but there are no TMo offers yet. They plan to put it in their stores around 8-15 May. So if there is no chance to unlock ATT one I'll wait for TMo.
I'd wait. With the AT&T version you'll only get 850mhz/1900mhz HSPA, whereas the LTE would work fine. You'd definitely want AWS HSPA+ if your on T-Mobile. Their 1900mhz refarming is very spotty and not matured.

Yes anyway I need HSPA+. I use ATT Note2 that supports it. But it is unknows if ATT GS4 supports it as well.
You should definitely wait. Or if you're buying outright full price, just get the international I9505.
Well thanks i9505 is too expensive
1-2 more weeks not a big deal then
If you live in Queens there are some T-Mobile stores launching the fone on the 1st... Actually only 3 stores in Queens launching on the 1st.
It does not support the AWS 1700 band, so wait for the TMobile version. The hardware is not there.
The ATT S3 and Note 2 did not support AWS HSPA out of the box, but a quick tweak using the Qualcomm software fixed this.
Perhaps the same fix applies to the new chipset in the S4?

On Note 2 AWS HSPA can be enabled through service menu so I've made. Do not know about GS3..
Tmobile or ATT version S4
Will T-mobile S4, which I am sure will come as locked, work on ATT network (3G/4G/LTE) once unlocked? It appears that ATT version lacks Tmobile's 1700 band for 3G/4G. But does Tmobile version S4 comes with 1700/1900/2100 plus LTE band that works at both carriers provided that it is unlocked? If not is there an S4 unlocked version that can be purchased so that it works at both carrier's 3G/4G/LTE?

4g lte shoukd work straight out of the box since tmobile uses the same lte band as at&t. and im pretty positive hspa should work too cause you dont need 3 bands all time. I have tmobile note 2 on att and i have all 2g hspa and lte.

Could you please provide a source for this? I've been looking but can't find any confirmation. I was thinking both phones would have the same hardware (cheaper to manufacture) but the modem firmware would simply disable some bands on the AT&T model.

Turns out the hardware is identical on both the AT&T and the T-Mobile models. More info on this post. Cross-referencing posts to avoid duplicating info, and in case someone is interested.
what about unlocking the phone(t-mobile version)? anything available besides buying the code?
noob question

[Q] Questions about Mobilicity and Wind's Samsung Galaxy S4.

Does anyone here know for sure whether the hardware is similar to T-Mobile's Samsung Galaxy S4?
Does it come unlocked? If not, can I easily unlock it and use it on either Rogers' or Telus' LTE network?
Are there any carrier branding/software on Mobilicity or Wind's SGS4?
Is the bootloader unlocked for the phone?
Thanks!
No one here knows?
Help?

International version FULLY compatible with TMO?

Due to the TMO variant being possibly bootloader locked i wanted to know if Anyone know if the International version of the Samsung Galaxy S5 is FULLY compatible with TMOBILE? in other words does it have all the frequencies/bands needed to work on TMobile USA??
I came here to ask the same thing. Tmo uses 1900mhz for 3g and it supports that. I don't think it supports tmo's LTE bands though.
With the s4s there were a lot of shenanigans you could do to get the modem on other bands, since the hardware supported more. Maybe we can do that here.
edit: Looks like tmo lte might be 1900 and the SM-G900F is 1900.
edit 2: I think, ha, that 1700 is lte and 1900 is 3g.

ha left me a little confused, illl probably just wait till the actual specs are confirmed on most of the S5 variants...including whats bootloader locked and whats not.
I never heard of ANY international phones being LTE compatible with the Big 4 (Verizon, ATT, Sprint, Tmobile).

I am still a little confused by this - so your help is appreciated - Bottom line, is there an international version that will work with ATT LTE? From what I have been able to see none of the S5s or any phone for that matter (at least that I can see) works with ATT LTE - at least not until YOu can get 3g and 4g I think (HSPDA+
Am I wrong about this or is there an S5 varient that uses any of the LTE Bands supported by ATT:
which are: AT&T B17 = 700MHz b; B4 = AWS 1700MHz-2100MHz
Suggestions? are there any options?

The international unlocked G900F doesn't support B4 and B17.

Wait til S5 Google Play edition will be released. I bet, it will work the same as S4 Google edition which is very much compatible with T-Mob and and around the world.
so will the SM-G900 be able to get LTE? friend of mine has it and at the moment he is not able to pick up LTE only 2g if we change the baseband will that make any difference?
thanks for any help

Is it possible to enable these bands? similar to what is done for S4 i337or i337M
Hope somebody might be working on it
I have G900H but does not have 1700 MHz hence cannot be used with Wind or Mobilicity.
FULLY compatible? No.
OTOH, the TMobile bootloader is not locked.
Bypass the band restrictions? e.g. as was done to enable AWS on the S3.. possibly, but that would be considerable work. And more to the point, I haven't noticed anyone pursuing that.

No, they are different models and there is no way that they will have the same memory addresses.
FWIW, the TMobile version has AWS enabled, so a comparison between the 900T and say 900W8 NV would probably give you a really good idea of would need to be changed on other variants with respect to AWS.

T-Mobile (G935T) or other variants running on AT&T

Hi,
I'm on AT&T and planning on buying an S7 Edge. I'm trying to look for a unit with a good price and don't care if it's a different variant but I'd like to know what I'd be missing by not getting the AT&T one (G935A):
1. If flashing the AT&T firmware on the T-Mobile variant (G935T) or any other (Verizon, Rogers, etc), will it work just like the AT&T one and will it activate all the LTE bands? or AT&T will still not recognize it as an AT&T one? any other AT&T feature that might be missing?
2.- Does the VoLTE and WIFI calling on AT&T works in any other S7 variant? I think I read is possible but root is needed.
Thanks!
I can verify that using the Verizon S7 and S7e works with AT&T firmware. All AT&T LTE bands including VoLTE and WiFi calling work. No root required.
I have tmobile S7e that I flashed the AT&T firmware on. It's running great and works great.

Usually international models have slightly different bands then the US has. Some bands are compatible, some aren't. I would advise you to check the specs of your phone and find out exact bands for MetroPCS, then compare and see which bands are missing.

international models show 4G instead of LTE. You can run a speed test on 4G to prove this.
LTE is shown only on North American Models.
