Acer A200 - Acer Iconia A500

I know this is not an A200 section (but there is a lack of one here on XDA). I have a seriously bricked A200. I let my kids play with it, and now... NADA. It will not boot. The power light comes on white and hangs. I can get it to show in the device manager as an APX device. I do believe this is BEFORE fastboot so I cannot use SimpleRecovery (any version) or ADB. Can anyone help here. More info given upon request.

Any ideas from anyone?

Mod please move to "Help". Thanks.
Sorry I didn't see I was in general still when I posted this. I thought I had flipped over to the Help section.

Brick phone maybe?.. Question for Dev

So I got a htc mytouch 4g And it has that phone icon with a triangle and exclamtion mark. I dont know anything about this phone since I have a att captivate From what I read is that if you have recovery you might be able to do it.
Also when I plug in the usb I go into recover and I Get a fasboot screen and other sorts of menus i have put a pd15img.zip in my external sd card and it loads installs It I guess but still boots into the same Icon.
from what I also read is that you can fix this by loading a stock rom pushing into your sdcard via adb but make sure is name update.zip but when I do that I get Invalid Operation.
when in recovery I have this message E:cant't open /cache/recovery/command also phone boots right into that icon.
I assume this is a soft brick since I get into recover and the other fasboot menu when I plug in USB any help is appreciated
This is my first time with a phone like this so I'm doing what I would normaly do with a captivate ish
I'm sorry for posting in wrong section. Cant fine the Delete option mods delete if possible I posted in QA
Wrong place ro poat your question. Post in Q&A please.
Indeed, wrong section, but we can wrap this up quickly. Unfortunately, that's not a soft brick, but a hard brick. Those cache errors in recovery indicate that you have a bad eMMC chip. No one has yet been able to recover the device once the eMMC goes.
It's indeed not a Development thread whatsoever, but I've answered you in the correct thread. Since you have triangle icon with exclamation mark, as people here didn't put attention, you're in the stock recovery, and eMMC failures most likely don't apply, it's a "normal" error.

When I originally responded to this thread, the OP had not yet posted his screenshot in the other thread, so I didn't know the phone was not rooted and that the cache errors were occurring in stock recovery, not ClockworkMod.
No offense meant whatsoever, my apologies if it sounded something I didn't mean. If I didn't start reading with the other thread - I probably wouldn't put attention to that detail either.
So does this mean i have a chance to fix my 400 buck brick

No, not at all. I was just explaining what I said so I didn't sound like a dummy. My first response only made sense if the phone was rooted, but I didn't find out until later that it was stock.

COMPLETELY BRICKED A7+ please help

hi all i attempted to use the dextor hack and i messed up with the flash all data step i thought it did it but it didnt and then when i went to update and it was done i just get a black screen when i turn on the device i can not even go into recovery mode its just basically lighting up the screen and nothing i am very tech savy so i can do just about what ever i need to just somebody please help me out hours of looking and i cant find a single thing on this
Not Really Sure how much help i can give you seeing as i never seen anyone brick one of theses devices. Im pretty sure you don't a Elocity A7+, from i beleive they aren't available on the market. You should have a regular Elocity A7.
Before you check the link below be very positive you can't get into recovery, sometime it take a little long for it to come up.
Also if the tablet is new you should also think about calling or emailing Elocity to see if it can be replaced.
most of use aren't very active in the Elocity A7 forum of xda, so you may get more help at Tabletroms Forum
I don't no much about Nvflash but you should read into this it may help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1022273
The A7+ has been selling and shipping for the past few weeks, i just got mine delivered today. Now I'm here learning that trying to use the A7- hack might be a bad idea.
a7+ bricked fix
See Destron5683 response for black screen, make sure you use the a7+ update if you bricked your new a7+ trying to upgrade it.
Any advice for following
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21109150
and then not being able to access the keyboard? Thats the point I am at currently.
This is an older thread, but assuming you have not tried it, see the recovery information at ElocityNow website:
http://www.elocitynow.com/prod_a7-plus_recovery.shtml
You should be able to get back up and running it the recovery posted in the post above. I got my A7+ stuck in a boot loop when I changed something that I shouldn't have in the build.prop and the PC recovery method worked just fine.

Bricked Tablet

Hey,
I recently became the owner of a bricked Iconia a500 tablet. Beyond that, I don't know much about it and I cannot contact the previous owner...
The situation:
It will boot the the Acer logo, but it doesn't go beyond that.
I've searched this forum (and others) for ways to bring it back to life. A factory reset doesn't seem to do anything at all.
I can boot into recovery mode to load a rom, but cannot find the proper rom. CWM does not seem to be installed. I've looked for stock roms but none seem to work.
When I try and load a rom I will inevitably get a white triangle with an orange exclamation mark inside of it. Next to this is the android man.
I've found a few threads that purpose links to a stock rom, but a lot of them have file shares linked to Megaupload... which is.. well non-existent now.
Again, I can not tell you the anything about the current software.... if you know how I can find out that alone would be a huge help! = )
Many thanks,
Robert
This might be your best luck..
This flashed thru your computer adb.. apx mode..

Hey Erica,
Thanks for you very speedy response!
Well, I read a lot of that thread... lol probably more than I should admit. I followed the procedure but was unable to get a good connection via USB.
I was finally able to get it to register a Factory Reset thanks to that post. Had tried it a few times before... must have not been pressing hard enough?
Either way, it is stuck on Erasing Userdata... and Erasing Cache...
I saw that it was suggested it could be a hardware issue... What is your opinion?
Thanks,
Robert
I still think its a rom issue..
You might could try to download the rom again. and try again.. there is also another thread in the DEV section that does the same thing but differently you could try that or maybe posting there where a TRUE Developer might be able to help you..
I just repeat what i have learned from my own mistakes and read from others..
Sorry im not more help ..
Trust me Erica, you have been a great help! If I find a solution, I will update this thread with it = )
Thanks!
Robert

[HELP] Possibly stuck in APX mode

I'm trying to help this person on reddit but I'm a total noob with the Iconia 500 and after looking at various threads the only conclusion i can come to is APX mode. Could you guys please post a link to the solution or describe them in a noob friendly manner, because I've seen allot of solutions for the APX problem but they're all different, I just wasn't to make sure I find the correct solution for this persons symptoms.
Details-
The Iconia A500 gets to the android logo then nothing.
Attempted update.zip but that doesn't work
Original Reddit post-
Hey, I have an Acer Iconia a500 and it bricked on me. Ive googled the solutions but with no avail. Ive booted in repair mode, ive added an sd card with a new update.zip to the reboot, still nothing. All i get is a little android with an open chest and red exclamation point. Googled the symptoms, but its a really broad subject. I can get it to boot with the SD card for a moment, then a progress bar appears under my dead, open android. The bar doesnt seem to be moving. Im at a loss, could anyone help? Thanks in advance!

No its not stuck in apx mode, just failing to run an update.zip. depends what rom the tab was on and which update.zip was tried.
The solution will require the tabs cpuid so an EUU can be run. If the user does not have a backup of the cpuid and cannot boot into the OS to retrieve it, then it will be no easy fix. Check the cpuid guide in my sig. Linux has to be used unless the user has had the tab connected to his pc at some point then he can use a program called usbdeview to get it. ALL details for these 2 methods are in the cpuid guide.
Once he has the cpuid he can use tge babsector.rar file to reset his tab. This file will install a patched bootloader and custom recovery. All details and download links and instructions are in the root guide in my sig.
He will need full battery charge and a custom ics or jb rom to flash once the babsector.rar file has completed.
As I said this whole process will not be easy. But patience and the ability to follow the steps as they are written will ensure success.
The only thing that may be an issue is if the tab has the dreaded memory chip fault, but babsector.rar file will tell you if this is the case. Acer has recently repaired these faulty tabs even though they were out of warranty.
Good luck

[dev][apx][nvflash][tegra-note-7][update]

If anybody bricks his/her device and has only the APX mode available or is trying to get an nvflash utility for a Tegra Note 7, now the solution can be found: the Advent company has published a full package including a nvflash working with the Tegra Note 7. Moreover, the package contains a signed bootloader and bct and all the other parts of the entire storage (including the system partition for a 4.3. JellyBean).
It can be downloaded from their website of adventcomputers.co.uk in the downloads section (I can't post links yet), select Product range: "Advent"; Product type: "Tablet"; and then choose "ADVENT Vega Tegra Note 7", do not be mystified by the "driver" type and download the "Advent Vega Tegra Note Factory Image (4.3)" (about 641 MB package)
Many thanks to the dev and support guys at Advent (Dixons retail plc), because they have put the final cherry on the top of the cake. The Nvidia Tegra Note 7 is now not only a top of the top devices regarding its power, but this package renders it into an unbrickable device.
(note: I'm NOT affiliated with any of the companies, I just bricked my device and had no other mode available than the APX mode. I'm posting this post due to the abovementioned reasons, because I find this quite and important source for further hacking(orig. meaning) of the devices. In fact I regard this as an utlimate source for development on this platform.)
I have tried the package (including the batchfile, that does the automation), it works for me on my Advent Vega Tegra Note 7, however Im not sure if it will work on others (EVBA for example), so please feel free to test and post your experience underneath here.

thx
Thanks for the heads up. I tried it on my bricked dodgy manufactured tablet and I was able to get the device to a new level but it still crashes trying to boot the system partition. Least now I have fastboot.
With the nvflash recovery tools you can replace the images to suit say bat-recovery or latest boot.img with menu options the older version doesn't have.
Wait what?! Why havent I been notified?! And subscription to my own thread has been lost?!?! O__o ill take a look at this!!!!

HEhehee. This nvflash recovery is only new to the scene so I didn't get time to check it out then inform you Shaky.
In my opinion our community can rehash these tools and make a better recovery.

I have tried to make a request on the admin who locked Your threead and wanted to post it there (see my message to Moscow Desire below), but I did not get any answer, so I did not want to dealy such an important newz anymore, so I have allowed myself to open a new thread with simmilar markings. Sorry for the discomfort, but I do not see any other way of behaving corerctly, if this forum platform and its admins do not provide support for this.

Reopening a closed thread?
There is a thread I would like you to reopen, since the state of things has heavilly changed. The post I would like to post is an quite important one, while it may contain a link to a commercial site, it also points to an nvflash utility working with Tegra Note 7, including signed bootloader and BCT. Moreover, the (non-purchase and registration free) download package is made by a commercial partner of nVIDIA with (AFAIK from their support) full consent of nVIDIA. For the Tegra Note it is the last missing bit for the full controll of the device starting from APX mode up to the various other run-modes.
Im not affiliated with neither of the abovementioned companies, I just bricked my device and had no way to recover it since APX was the only rescue, so they published the whole package (for 4.3 JB). I think mentioning this as well the link to the package is worthwhile the post, but I do not feel that starting a new thread would be correct.
Thread to be reopened: (link to your original thread)
Would this be possible?
Thanks

Ok, I need some help if anyone can.
I erased the boot file on my Nvidia EVGA Tegra Note 7 P1640 tablet and now I'm stuck. I had set usb debugging on in the tablet and as far as I know, it's still on. I have tried everything I can think of and nothing works. First, there are 3 driver_install.bat files in the Vega7\usbpcdriver folder. Being that I'm running windows 7 64bit with an AMD processor, I select driver_install_amd64.bat and it fails wanting $P4ROOT$ to be set. I may be wrong, but I set it to D:\Android\Vega7 (in the install_driver_amd64.bat). Please correct me if I'm wrong. Second, if I set p4root to D:\android\vega7 (where the Vega7 folder is), it fails with "NT DDK at //sw/tools/ddk/nt6/6001.18002/... is not synced" and fails. I have no idea what to do about this. If I goto the vega7 directory and click on flash_signed.bat, it stops at >SN.txt and just sits there. I thought I was fairly computer savy, but apparently I'm not.
I've followed the instructions as written up to the point it freezes up on me, however there is no info on what to do if the batch files fail.
I can get the tablet into APX mode in the device manager, but the drivers are not loaded. I can load the drivers in the usbpcdrivers folder, which installs "Nvidia USB Boot-recovery driver for Mobile devices", but still can't get the flash_signed.bat to go any farther than >SN.txt. (I turned echo on in the bat file so I could see what was happening)
So please, anyone, help. I've only got one hand full of hair left and it's about to go too.
Always use usb without option for power charging.
Change USB port if not try on different computer, I was stuck on my one when I try do flash, go on my girlfriend laptop and done without any problems.

Can't use usb without power. The tablet will not stay turned off now and because of that, the battery won't charge enough to usb without power from usb.
I've even plugged in the charger and gone into boot-loader and clicked on shut down, but it still won't stay off or take a decent charge.
I have tried a different computer as well as different ports with the same results.
btw, thanks for replying.
As I reread the posts, I noticed rheingold's post at the bottom says he's not sure if this will work on the (I believe he meant EVGA) model. Can anyone verify it works on EVGA?
Solved. Bad USB cable. Unbelievable! I guess the original cable only works when it wants to. Used usb cable from old kindle with complete success. Fully restored to 4.4.2, rooted, and sd card fixed. I'm back in business. Gotta love those rootjunkys super tools.

Nice work mate. I am speaking with Nvidia too see if they will do factory images like the Shield but waiting on a response for that.
Also OTA 2.4 is now Live as of 5 minutes ago.
It seems the USB cables are not of high quality just like the ports.

Having the same issue here.. anyone?
I have a copy if its needed still.
Today, panic stations as I thought I had bricked my Advent Vega Tegra Note 7.
I had updated yesterday to KitKat along with additional OTA updates, but decided
to go back to 4.3 to capture the update after main KitKat update (2nd of 6 updates [EDIT: forgot to cap that one]).
I unlocked bootloader via fastboot, then flashed system.img (4.3 from Advent) and then the TWRP
recovery.img EDIT: Also locked bootloader..
On boot, it got itself stuck Powered ON at the TEGRA NOTE (white on black) screen, all was doom and gloom.
I finally figured out that holding down Volume+ then pressing the power button quickly and then
pressing again (whilst still holding the volume+ button down), I could get into the recovery menu
to access TWRP. In TWRP I did a factory reset and hoped for the best.
On reboot, all was still doom and gloom. So I thought maybe it might be necessary to have the
appropriate boot image (rather than the 4.4 boot image), and so flashed that, and Voila,
everything is hunky dory again.
I seem to have lost ability to use nvflash (APX mode) after original 4.3 flashing (which I could access
on the device doing the same dance as above but pressing both volume up and volume down keys before power).
My USB driver Vender ID and Product ID's below, I seem to have two Fastboot Id's, presumably one for stock recovery
and the other for TWRP (I blanked last 5 digits with x's just in case they could be used for nefarious deeds).
Code:
Fastboot Advent Vega Tegra Note 7 Fastboot Vid_0955&Pid_cf01\052101410714600xxxxx
TegraNote-Premium Google Galaxy Nexus ADB Interface Vid_18d1&Pid_d001
Tegra NOTE TegraNote-P1640 Vid_0955&Pid_cf02
Fastboot Advent Vega Tegra Note 7 Fastboot Vid_0955&Pid_cf01\15C4110C904000000100xxxxx
Advent Vega Tegra Note 7 Vid_0955&Pid_cf00&MI_00
Tegra NOTE Advent Vega Tegra Note 7 ADB Vid_0955&Pid_cf00&MI_01
Tegra NOTE USB Composite Device Vid_0955&Pid_cf00
APX NVIDIA USB Boot-recovery driver for Mobile devices Vid_0955&Pid_7535
Anyway, perhaps above is all known to you old salts, but for a newbie like me, is perhaps of use.
Also, thanks for the link
You can access APX by pressing Power plus Volume down and Volume UP at the same time and holding them.
Thanx hacktrix, I could access APX OK (was stuck with power on, ie could not power off, the dance described allowed me the access both fastboot and APX).
The problem was nvflash via flash_signed.bat.
