For me to unlock my bootloader, was holding off till that ta file could be backed up but it seems as though nothing gets broken so i'll take the plunge, not like sonys warranty is any good anyway, water damage voids warrnty of waterproof phone..... really.
Anyway i was gonna video myself going through the phone after checking camera, x reality etc but only camera i have access to is a galaxy ace 2 n its too blurry t be of any use, so hopefully screenshots will suffice, i doubt it tho lol

i intended to do that anyway, just took a pic of my tv, i suppose it wouldnt hurt t go stand on the doorstep n take one of the garden too as its gettin dark now
only problem is im not the worlds greatest photographer, every pic i took apart from the 8mp superior auto one looks awful, dunno if the settings been changed at all in manual mode the iso seems low..... whats default?

Iso can be upped to 3200 for me.

lol i know it goes up to that, i think my sister changed my iso setting but i dont know what the standard default setting is, im assuming i will know after unlock coz it will reset.
Thought maybe there was still some more stuff people werent sure on, seems not lol

Would be great if you posted a noob guide to the process as well, I was gonna wait for a exploit but I get feeling there not gonna be one for a while & I really need to get AdAway installed & change the DPI, all the best with the unlock.

a noob guide would be fantastic ... unlocking bootloader and rooting . i have only ever rooted once and that was a galaxy S2 . this is way more advanced. so hopefully a total noob guide would be great thanks in advance to anybody willing to do this :good:

ooops....... anyway ive hit a snag..... following the official method, cant seem to get past the fastboot bit in command line, just stays at waiting for device....... flashtool appears to be reasonably noob friendly but ill stick with this abd/fastboot route n simplify it as much as i can

Are them 4 enough? aint unlocked yet, just downloadin flashtool so i can check something, just 8mp auto pix ok yeah? if anything specific gimme the settings you want used
Got a before and after of the same shot?
If your windows is 64 bit then the drivers won't install due to them being unsigned, I had to disable driver signing in win 8.1 64 bit to get them to work.

Okay so basically I have a damaged LCD and I need to wipe blind before I change phones, my phone has a security lock but I wanna be safe. On one of my mms messages I have a video of me banging an asian girl from behind. Don't want that to get out lol. Can anyone guide me step by step from Amon_Ra 2.3 how to factory reset?
i.e. Down Down Down Power Down Power etc etc.
I followed the extended menu from the pdf found on the Amon_Ra thread but I believe I get to the wipe option but get stuck at the confirmation screen, I don't remember how many times to scroll down to hit "YES".
So far I'm at:

Once you hit power to wipe all you just to hit power again to confirm you want to wipe.

When you open the attached media, yes, it downloads that media to your SD card, I think to the /sdcard/download folder.

No sir, she was the real deal, and all it cost me was a meal and a bottle of wine. Asian women are wild, she wanted to see how she looked riding me from behind so I recorded a couple of videos and sent them to her.
So in the end there was good news there was bad news. Let's start with how I broke the lcd in the first place. I'm leaving work to see a client, busy and running late carrying a lot of **** and I'm rather clumsy when I have to multitask. I forget my phone on the roof of the car, drove off and heard the phone slide off the back end of my civic coupe. I felt it's demise in slow motion and all I could do was say "nooooooooooooooo!" Ironically the front plastic was not scratched at all, so much for spending $15 on ZAGG. Phone on, lcd lit but the impact caused the crystals to crack, or whatever.
Fast forward to yesterday, took the phone to the Sprint service center, they said come back in 2 hours. Replaced the lcd free of charge! I was a happy camper, except now the volume keys don't work so I need to go back first thing in the morning.
I personally think they just replaced the phone with a refurb because I tried to adb to recovery but it was gone, red triangle, since the volume keys don't work I used adb to boot to bootloader and S was back on.
I'll keep you guys posted, not that you care.

My front facing camera has been distorted at least since I bought the phone... pretty sure this is a hardware issue, as I have had it no matter which rom I use. Not super important, but I wanna see if I can fix it before ICS hits and I want the face unlock feature....

You'll have plenty of time before ICS hits.......
You could try reloading the camera firmware. There is a thread around here somewhere with instructions and the firmware file. If that doesn't help, then it's time to visit a sprint store with a repair facility near you. They will replace the screen/camera assembly while you wait. They did mine in about an hour for free. I don't have insurance and the phone was 11 months old.

Hmmm. you may be out of luck with sprint then. Try the link for the firmware update in my first reply. Good luck!
Just got done chatting with them, and they will take a look at it, as it is activated on Sprint... the firmware update FCed on me, but I assume that is because I am using CM... not sure though
Should I return to stock before taking it in?
Might be a good idea, just make a CWM backup first so you can re-root and be up and running again in a few minutes.

As far as I know there isn't anything you really need to check. I'd recommend unlocking the bootloader and flashing a custom recovery/rooting straight away though because that saves you the trouble of losing your data should you decide to do it later.

Make a few calls, check that the earpiece and mic work fine.
Open a blank webpage, it'll show you if you have a yellow tint. (Which should go away in a week or so)
Run all your usual apps, see that the screen, camera, speaker etc. are all working fine.
Basically should be it.....

AFAIK if you haven't already signed in to the apk then it won't work anymore since Google shut down the servers some time ago.
But don't worry, your Q still has a lot more potential than a paperweight.

Since KitKat is already available thanks to hharte I'd say go for it, instead of the guide's cm10. Here is the link:

So according to the great guide
1, unlock your device, than
2, load an unsecure boot image,
3, load a recovery (you'll find a KitKat compatible in hharte's thread)
4, install the rom that suits your needs (with audio amplifier support or with HDMI audio out instead) and gapps.

Got a 2nd post Android 6 system update today and after the update I'm getting these lines across my screen and idea how to fix it? Phone hasn't been dropped...Have tried adjusting brightness but have had no luck

It must be a hardware problem becuase the software is outputting the right stuff to the screen as can be seen in the screenshot becuase there are no visibke lines in it and it all looks as it should. If there are visible lines on your screen I think you will need to send your phone in for repair.

Who knows. You could try flashing it with the stock firmware using Odin. You can download the stock firmware for your phone from: http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model
If flashing is does nothing and you still have the lines on the screen you will have to send it in for repair.

Like the others have suggested you should try looking at them screenshots on another device. We are unable to see the issue which you are talking about in the screenshots you have posted which is clearly indicating that it is a hardware issue. Like I said in the post before try flashing stock firmware using Odin and if that makes no difference you will have to send the device in for repair. If you want to show your issue you will need to take a picture of the screen with another phone or camera and then post it here.

If you're talking about those grey gradient stripes then yes those to me look like a hardware issue. You will need to get your phone looked at by a local phone shop or send it to samsung to get them to fix it.
If you are on a custom ROM I would try the stock software to see if that changes/fixes the issue. If not like I have repeated many times you have no other choice but to send to it to where you got it from or take it to a local phone shop.
