Can't recover tablet - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey guys
I decided to flash back to stock today and recovered my backup but it wouldn't boot so I turned the tablet off and put it into it's bootloader and tried to flash a stock image but fastboot refuses to flash anything to the tablet at all :/ i can't at this point boot into anything any help?
I can for some reason put the userdata on and off but nothing else will flash onto the tablet :S

Yeah I know all the commands and stuff and how it all works I've been using fastboot and adb etc since launch of the nexus 4. There's no output the commands just stop for instance when I use the flashall.bat from the factory images it wipes everything but won't put anything actually on the tablet it just hangs at the first sending and never finishes it just hangs there.
I've tried flashing the files manually swell but again they won't go on. The only thing that does finish is userdata.img but nothing else finishes going on the tablet at all turning on the tablet it vibrates twice and just boots onto the bootloader and nothing else opens not even the recovery
EDIT: Hooooly smeg it actually started working! it's alive again

Not trying to say you don't know, but the more information you give the better your help would be
Knowing what bootloader you have and if unlocked or not will help determine proper steps
Knowing the exact input/output can help as well as knowing the os you are using
Also if tab was working 100% before the attempt to return to stock, prior recovery and rom, any other issues you have had, etc
But its fine if you don't want to post this
Next steps would be
Make sure fastboot binaries on PC are up to date
Quality USB cable
Check md5sum for files you are to flash
If manually flashing stops at sending what happens when you manually erase?
What happens if you just try and boot a recovery through fastboot?
The more info you are willing to give the better your answers will be
Best of luck

Oh I apologize if I came across as being rude it wasn't my intention
It's all ok for some strange reason on the 50th odd attempt it finally started taking the data from fastboot. for some reason before hand when I tried manually the command would just sit there as "sending recovery" or whichever i tried and wouldn't move even waited 20 mins earlier just incase. i'm not sure at all what was happening there but now it's booted and fine

Have I totally bricked my Nexus 7?

Hi,
Regretting this now but was trying to try out a different ROM after a long day so probably missed a step somewhere....
The situation now is that following normal procedure, my Nexus was wiped of user data, new ROM zip file copied across and loaded using recovery mode. After that, it had some error setting permissions with the new ROM and did not install properly (loaded but blank screen, apps, settings etc would not load).
I tried the process again and the same result, but now, I cannot even get adb working, the device is coming up simply as an unknown device and I cannot force install the google usb driver to get adb working again - so now I cannot even copy stock across to the Nexus.
My question is, without adb working now, have I fully bricked it or can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks
If you can get into boot loader you can fix it.

To elaborate a little, you'll want to get into the bootloader using the method quoted above, and then use fastboot (or nexus toolkit) to flash a stock image.
Thanks guys, managed to recover back to stock via fastboot and the command line just now .... this will teach me never to try flashing any ROMs when half asleep!
Thanks again :good:

[Q] No OS system

My nexus 4 just re-set for no reason took me into TWRP and when i went to reboot my system it said I had no OS or that my phone was not rooted no more can someone please help me with this? So when i go to boot my phone it just stays frozen on "Google" when its loading
You can either push a rom to your device with the adb push command while in bootloader.
Or flash to stock, here's how!
NOTE this are direct download links:
4.3:

4.2.2:

Here is an excellent guide:

Let me know if it worked, just follow the method and I think you'll be fine. And go into bootloader, not recovery(bootloader is where you can choose recovery and where it says if youe bootloader is unlocked or locked) and then perform the commands that are on that guide.
If that won't work try to push a rom to your device with the adb push commands, there are alot of tutorials for that if you can't find one let me know so I can help.
But for now, good luck man!

[Q] HELP!!! Nexus 4 stuck in what i think is "recovery mode"

Hello All,
About 2 days ago i tried to root my google nexus 4, I dont know what i did, but now when i turn it on it shows the google logo then goes to where it shows an android with a red exclamation mark, does anyone know how this can be fixed, any help would be much appreciated!!
Can you be a bit more specific on what you did? Or what guide you followed?
Rooting is quick and easy on a nexus
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot flash recovery nameofrecovery.img
Then flash ROM of choice in recovery
Reboot

Ok, i had successfully rooted my phone, i then went to put on a new rom so i could use OTG storage. That got me completely stuck, i tried toget back to my normal phone but didnt know how. I foolishly went into recovery mode, and wiped everything off it. and just now i cant even do anything it just has a red light flashing at the bottom, i hope this has helpt in some way.
Do you have a custom recovery? Use adb sideload to flash the ROM, or if you have a working otg cable this should be fine too
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
UPDATE: The red light has gone (was just low on power) But the phone is still stuck in recovery mode. i have tried to "apply update from ADB" with my mac but it doesnt work and im not sure if i am doing it propperly.
I am pretty new to this kinda stuff, so i dont know what a custom recovery is, and i honestly have no idea what to do, im not really bothered about the root anymore i would rather just have my phone back to normal.
Please dont take this the wrong way and I mean no disrespect, but maybe we should just get your phone up and running and then maybe a few months from now after you've done a whole lot of reading you can consider rooting again. The n4 isn't the most expensive phone in the world but it would still be a shame to brick it, as much as I believe all androids are best to be rooted the user really needs to understand fully what s/he is doing, 95% of "help my device is bricked" threads come from lack of homework, which is easily 100s of threads a day across xda alone
OK, sorry for the lecture I've just ran into this a lot lately, and I'd be glad to help
I try not to use apple products as a whole so I can't say for sure why its not connecting with adb, is this for sure set up properly? As in has adb or fastboot worked fine in the past? Also is device currently unlocked? By a custom recovery I mean nonstock, not an oem, like twrp or clockwork.
If you want root let's download the latest twrp image for the n4, if you want factory than download latest from here
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images?hl=de
Let me know how you want to proceed

Bricked Nexus 7

Hey guys,
a few hours ago I tried flashing the new Ldroid Rom onto my Nexus 7. After flashing the rom my tablet took ages to boot up and after the bootup it said i had to enter a password to encrypt the data (i never set encryption). after entering a random password android reported that the password was right but the data corrupt and i'd have to do a factory reset. after entering twrp i realized that the device couldn't mount anything except system. i wiped/formated everything except system and tried booting into android. this time i was stuck at the google logo. after entering recovery mode again now twrp couldn't mount system and sdcard. so i formated both and now i'm here with an absolutely empty nexus 7. i tried to use adb sideload to flash a new rom but my pc doesn't recognize the device and neither does fastboot. i tried reinstalling adb and fastboot drivers, i used universal drivers, i used drivers from toolkits, i did many many pc and tablet restarts, i reinstalled android sdk several times, i used different adb/fastboot locations, i even tried using a different pc trying the same steps. no change, only thing i get is that the tablet gets recognized by the device manager as an adb/fastboot device, nothing more.
Does anyone of you know a possible sollution for my issue?
Thanks in advance
P.S.: i've been researching the internet for this issue for the past hours and couldn't find any sollutions, so please don't say stuff like "use search function"
P.P.S.: My other devices get recognized without any issues with the same cable.
I would suggest using wugs awesome software you need to make sure all partitions are wiped and repaired to which ever format you are trying to use ext4 or f2fs and through wugs you can flash new ROM through fastboot wigs has save my ass a few times one should not try to do tedious tasks after a long night of drinking hope this helps let me know if ya need more

Thanks for the reply.
The thing is that the device doesn't get recognized in fastboot mode by the fastboot interface. But I'll try anyways as soon as I'm at home again...
Wugss also has a option to restore soft bricked devices that should do the trick for ya if all else fails

OK are you on the latest twrp recovery if so you can go into that and enable mtp get the ROM and gapps and all other files you want to flash and drop them onto your device the only thing is it for some reason won't let you transfer zip files that's fine just rename from zip to txt
And it should work sorry for the delay in response hope that works for you lol

Will not work because you need fastboot for it which is not working for me...
Alright I used my macbook for adb/fastboot and there it somehow recognized my device and I could use fastboot to do a factory reset. I still don't know why two independent windows systems did not recognize my Nexus 7 but I got it fixed. Anyways thanks to everyone who tried to help me in this thread!

Random bootloops! Fastboot detecting device but not adb!

Hey there,
My phone started bootlooping this morning out of a sudden.
Tried going to recovery to wipe cache etc but not booting in recovery.
Tried adb commands but the phone doesnt detects itself.
Surprisingly/be default the phone is recognised by fastboot commands.
I have some important data in my phone would be glad if it is saved.
Else have to make do with whatever is necessary to bring the phone alive.
When connected this is what it looks like.
Please guide .
Thanks in advance.
You just described the legendary Boot Loop Of Death or more commonly known as BLOD. In my experience with my phone, no way to get anything from the phone once it's in this state. There is a great tutorial by Heisenberg on here. Maybe on of the chapters addresses saving data. Once you give up on the data, do a flash-all.bat using a factory image through fastboot. If you get no errors but continue to boot loop with no access to the recovery, your most likely looking at RMA as your only option.

Try pressurizing Huawei and hear what they say. They should be knowing about the issue.
Several people have talked then into doing the RMA by referencing the hundreds of people talking online about it. Just ask them how they can sell a faulty device and not support it.

It's normal for ADB to not work unless you are in recovery mode. Without ADB you cannot push/pull files from the device. Try to fastboot flash or fastboot boot a TWRP recovery image from your PC. Any errors? Sorry, but If you cannot access recovery mode you are "dead in the water". Options are to start over with a new phone or source a used 6P and swap the motherboard. One guy in Korea found a used one for around USD $60.

It does flashes fine without any errors.
Doesn't boot into it though!
I was able to boot to recovery mode for once last night but didn't do much help although made me more optimistic about it.
Will try tinkering around more before giving up.
I'm actually flashing every google official image to see if it works on any version.
Will post the result soon.
One more thing if you see the screen shot I posted originally the last shows "Connect USB data cable" but it doesn't shows connected status even though it does gets detected and fastboot command works well.
