why would you change wifi permissions to that?
How they are after reboot is correct - the file and folder should be rwxrwxrwx - anything else you are risking it saying error when you turn on wifi
because you are seeing wifi networks its unlikely you are using the wrong wifi driver as that would mean it would just say scanning and not show wifi networks
I assume you can select a wifi network and enter in the key
I will also assume that you are actually entering the correct wifi key
I will alsso assume that it gets stuck obtaining ip address
Therefore you have six choices
1 - To reflah the kernel
2 - To change kernels and see if that makes any difference
3 - To set a static ip address to see if its a dhcp problem (you can get ip address details from the router settings or a computer connected to the network)
4 - Remove droidwall if you have it
5 - Change the permissions of system/etc/dhcpcd/dhcp-run-hooks to rwxrwxrwx (turn wifi off then back on again)
6 - Delete the file data/misc/dhcp/dhcp_list (then restart phone)

Can you view your computers files on your phone using AS

Activesync? How would you do it? Through file explorer or something?
I'm doing it by standard means of Windows.
Yeah, just enter your share's name on your device. The built in file explorer will do it, but I prefer Resco.

Can you not Active Sync via wifi then??
I have wifi but never tried it
I don't think so.
I don't know for sure as I don't use Activestink. (It will not run on my computer)
When I was using AS and the built in file explorer I didnt see an option to look in My Network? Do I need to configure anything? The furthest "Up" I could get to was My Device
I dont understand how to get to My Network? Anyone?
How do you connect to your networked PCs?
Hey how did you connect to your networked PC? I have Total Commander and have tried setting up the network neighborhood through that to no avail Can you access the network neighborhood via the built in file viewer?! If so how?
Thanks, Jess
BTW, Microsoft disabled ActiveSync via wifi in version 4 due to complaints of security, etc. Try 3.8 I believe that was the last version that supported sync over wifi. (Although I have not tried it)
Im not sure how to setup a network with my phone? Anyone know how to do this? Please?! Thanks!
Sorry to go on but... Anyone?
I think I need to set up a network on my computer so the phone can connect to it? Yes? No?
This works for me:
My Computer
Computer name: pchome
Create a folder on you PC for example "PocketPC" and share this folder!
PocketPC
Using TotalCommander in this example.
- Open TotalCommander
- Double click "\\" It should be above "Application Data".
- Double click "LAN"
- Double click "< new server >
- Enter "pchome" -> "OK"
- Press "OK" again
Now it should show pchome on your screen.
When you double click it it should show you your shared folders
Hmmm, that looks good I will have to try this when I get home.
To share a folder you just right click it and tick the share box or something dont you?
Correct
I cant get it to work ?
I followed all those steps... Hmmmmmmmmm, just coming up no files in the folder
I followed the same steps, even have other folders that are shared... still not working... hmm
Thanks, Jess

[Q] Unable to connect to Wifi. "Authentication error occurred"

Hello everyone!
I just got the S4, and im really impressed by it.
But for a heavy youtube user, beein unable to connect to my home wifi is a big problem.
Whenever I try to connect to my home wifi I immediately get the message "Authentication error occurred" and the S4 wants me to insert password again. I did manage to connect to the wifi for some breef moments using the "Wifi connection manager" application, but it suddenly stopped working after I put the phone to lock screen. I have updated the phone in Kies, Rooted it to maybe find some fixes, rebooted the access point, forgot and reconnected the network, and still no luck.
Here is some info on the wifi:
WPA-PSK (personal)
We use an access point for the wireless singals. This is a Moterola AP-5131
But considering there beeing 4 iPhones and 2 laptops already connected to the wifi, I doubt it beeing the AP that is the problem.
I really hope that there is a phone-side fix to this problem, because it is easier to hack into the Matrix than to acces the AccesPoint.

[Q] WIFI password registered is encrypted?

Hi all.
If you have root, you can access data/misc/wifi, and open WPA_SUPPLICANT.CONF with a text editor and check the wifi passwords registered on the device.
wifi spots look like this:
network={
ssid="wifi hotspot name here"
psk="password here"
key_mgmt=Encryption_Type_Here
priority=x
}
So, PSK is usually the "PASSPHRASE", the same you typed to register the wifi spot.
All Android devices I have tested are like this, PSK shows the passphrase.
But on my Galaxy S5, PSK doesn't show the PASSPHRASE but a lot of numbers and letters instead.
I don't know what kind of encryption is that or why they did that, I don't even know If it is google or Samsung choice.
Take a look at my wpa_supplicant.conf:
{

So, does anyone know how to convert this encrypted psk line into passphrase?
Thank you.

Showing normal passwords here.
You're probably have activated some security feature to encrypt the data.
( useing this with Titanium for years, to adjust priority connects and hotspots. )

What's your S5 model? Thanks
I'm using a european 900F

in my wpa_supplicant.conf the psk is encrypted. Das anyone know where i can decrypt the passwords?
Check my reply at the end of this thread. 100% working on my SGS5 G900F with below details
If i change to false nothing happens... in the wpa_supplicant.conf the psk is furthermore in hex.

Don't know why it's not working then as I'm with stock kernel and just changed it to false. Another option is to flash a custom kernel and see if it works then.
The problem is following. I change the ro.sec..... in build.prob to false. After this all my stored psk in the wpa_supplicant are still in hex. If i delete wlan station und reconnect new (with retype the passphrase), the psk is now the passphrase.
But change the buld.prob do not convert in the wpa_supplicant the psk to passphrase.

For me it converted my stored passwords so i have no clue why it didn't on your phone. If it's a G900F, it should do it.
Yes it is a G900F
solution regarding encrypted wifi password
Go to root browserGo to/etc/secure_storage/.system.wpa_supplicant*then delete this folder (only ".secure.supplicant.conf"), then reboot.All saved passwords will be erased for the first time.It works for samsung.

wifi and 4G handover connection problems

Hello, I have a Xioami MI9T, for a few days I started having problems with 4G, I am in WIFI and everything is fine, when I turn off the WIFI or leave the coverage and connect to 4G, it shows connected, but it does workn, no WhatsApp , Waze does not connect and if I enter to the Chrome it gives me different errors such as: ERR_TUNNEL_CONNECTION_FAILED, err_proxy_connection_failed, err_network_changed, ERR_CONNECTION_RESET, etc., then I put it in airplane mode and take it out and it connects well. Also being in 4G, the mobile disconnects and connects a lot times, when it connecta again the same problem happen, ERR_XX message and I have to put airplane mode and take it out. I am from Argentina I spoke with Movistar (ISP) and they say everything is ok.
The phone installed a last update, I can not say that this is the problem, because I do not remember when it started, now I have: MIUI Global 11.0.3 Stable | 11.0.3.0 (PFJEUXM). The phone model is M1903F10G.
Thanks a lot for your help.

MAC Address Unavailable Wifi not working after Wipe and Stock Flashing with Miflash on Mi9T Global

I am fairly adept at modifying and resolving issues associated with modifying. However, after every attempt possible I have not been able to fix this issue.
I have somehow permanently removed my MAC address and IP address (I still have a Bluetooth address and IEMI) thereby preventing my device from turning on wifi. I have wiped and formated, I have executed "fastboot erase modemst1/2", I have completed reflashed stock MIUI ROM along with vendor and firmware packages of various android versions, and still with every ROM I load my wifi does not function.... Are there any other solutions I may use as a last attempt or have I rendered my phone essentially useless for day-to-day use? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Your phone does not have its 'own' IP address - IP address is dynamically given to your phone when you connect to the network (WLAN or Mobile Network) by use of DHCP service
Are you able to connect to the Mobile Internet?
When you connect to the Mobile Internet, your phone will be given the IP address there - see my screenshot "Mobile": WiFi disabled (hence MAC Address unavailable), but connected to Mobile Interntet and IP address 10.x.x.x (IPv4 address) given by my Mobile ooerator
On my "WLAN" screenshot, MAC Address is available (ofc, I had to partially erase on the screenshot) since WiFi is enabled, but IP address is now totally diferent, (long) IPv6 address given by my WLAN
Finally, on the "NoNet" screenshot, MAC Address is shown (WiFi enabled) but there is no IP address since not connected to Mobile Network nor WLAN
Back to your problem:
You say you flashed the Fastboot stock ROM but still no success.
Then either your WiFi chip is broken or you messed up your EFS partition - do you have a backup of your EFS and have you tried to restore?
I have yes, unfortunately, this makes me worried that this cannot be fixed...

You could inspect your kernel log - root is required
From PC, by ADB:
adb shell su -c dmesg > /sdcard/Download/dmesg.log
or from terminal app on the phone:
su -c dmesg > /sdcard/Download/dmesg.log
dmesg.log file will be saved to Internal memory, Download folder.
Open as a text file and search for lines containing wlan (and/or wifi)
I have many of them, specially one like:
wlan0(vdevid-0): <my_MAC_address> connected to <WLAN_AP_MAC_address>
You should probably find some warnings or errors.
If nothing, then your WiFi is not enabled?!
