X Reality - Xperia Z2 General

Just a heads up. XReality is working on my phone after bootloader unlock and root. I read somewhere that this was not posable if we lost the drm key's.

How did you test this?

That's good too hear! So all we really lose is access to the Sony Unlimited service?

Custom ROM or stock?

After bootloader unlock on my z2 xreality not work any more.

As you can see the second picture has x reality turned on.. And I'm using a custom rom.... RomAur 2.0

I'm on romaur and x-reality is not working. I could see it before I unlocked.

X-reality not work any more if you unlock bootloader man! I know because I unlocked and
checked for stock and custom Rom.

We are the same. Romaur and doomkernel. No x-reality here. What can I do?

I have the latest kernel. I did a clean install of the ROM last night and notised it was working.. I'm sure it wasn't working for me before
Sent from my D6503 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

I fresh installed today. Same ROM/kernel. Fark.

For me, X-Reality still work after bootloader unlock.

Be warned
X-reality and bionz processing engine will stop working because you will lose DRM keys when unlocking the boatloader... This is for sure.
I had experience in other xperia's devices such as xperia z and z1... Head to the xperia z1 forum and read
Doomlord used to give us ways to root our devices without unlocking the boatloader, we used to take a backup from TA partition which contain the DRM keys, so after we unlock the bootloader and losing these functionalities we could relock the boatloader to regain them , but unfortunately Sony have done something in there recent updates to prevent rooting without unlocking the bootloader
Note: TA partition contains the keys for (X-reality and boinz processing engine.. Etc), if you restore somebody else TA partition your device will hardbrick.
I hope I could helped

How do you explain it working on these unlocked phones? And do we know if bionz is gone?

The information I write is from my previous experience with older xperia devices such as xperia S, Z,Z1.
I could be wrong but I think these rules applied from Sony in all xperia's from there first devices , and I don't think they will change it in the Z2, since they use this method to make sure nobody will steal there technologies (i.e. X-reality algorithms)
You can head to xperia Z1 forum or Sony forums to double check

how to explain it with the relocked bootloader xreality working again without a copy of TA??

thanks for this! hope the improvements are really in this!
just have to change the build.prop a little to make it look like it's the branded o2 for future updates.
other than that, great!!!!:good:
is it greate?
My device works much better. Handsfree in my car via BT is working again. Unlocking and camera is faster. No lags in album oder in the ui. Furthermore there are also some changes i.e. Music unlimited is now fully implemented in walkman.
The previous and first 4.2.2 was really horrible. Now we are back to the quality of the last 4.1.2 rom

Thanks for the ftf file - great contribution - that version brings a lot of improvements and more speed in general.
What I discovered and which might help others, is that if you flash the ftf file with the Xperia flashtool, you need to tick the box "DATA" under "Wipe" as well. I didn't check that box the first time I flashed and from then on had the NFC firmware update failure issue (message on boot), many people seem to have with the .244 firmware version. After I flashed a second time, having the "DATA" box ticked, everything works smoothly, and the NFC update succeded during the first system start after flashing (but unfortunatly have to set up/customize my Z again, as it is completely reset by flashing the firmware).
Great update. All works good here. Very smooth and no lags

Brick my Phone! (to unlock bootloader)

I bought an Xperia Z and the sales rep lied to me about it having an unlockable bootloader.
Since I'm still in the 30-day return period I'm willing to try anything.
If you would like something tested, give me very detailed steps and I will see if I am able to unlock the bootloader.
Here are some things I'm going to try:
Flashing a generic FTF
Installing an OTA then trying to install a generic ROM
It's a T-mobile branded C6606 I bought from a Sony store
What? What does it says in service menu - "yes" or "no" if its NO then it means NO and you wont be able to unlock it. Flashing different software wont change anything. And I think that 30 days trial is only if u return them non bricked device, so be careful.
Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
I think he means as it is unlockable=no and he's returning it anyway hrs happy to try unlock experiments that may brick it.

It will always be locked if no one tries. There are only a handful of android devices that have escaped the wrath of devs finding a way.
With the right devs n some Time then there is hope. at least that is what I want to believe for right now.

That isn't going to help unlock the bootloader, so until we see some kind of real activity from a dev regarding unlocking Phone's that currently can't be unlocked it's pointless talking about it.

If you are flashing this over a newer firmware version, then a full wipe is essential.

yep, it took ages, but the UK is finally caught up with the rest of the world.
NOT encountering any issues so far with .244!
. 244 is a huge improvement, speed wise over 434. I had seriously bad slow downs on that, apps would take seconds to switch and open, gone immediately with this build. I updated via PC Companion and rooted with the 434 kernel.
It would be nice to see these FTFs released with separate kernels we can flash back to after rooting.
EDIT: The main reason I suggest it is for people who don't download the FTFs (due to slow speeds etc) but update via Sony, and just need the kernel to flash back after rootong. If you had the FTF you could just exclude everything else anyway so it's a non issue.

Of course I can, but then everyone would have to do the same, when they wanted to root newer ROMS with kernel changes, it was just a suggestion to help everyone else out a little

Everyone wouldn't have to create a 'kernel only' FTF if you uploaded it and shared it here after you created it, just like everyone hasn't got to create this complete FTF.
In any case, all of the 244 releases use the same kernel, so the FTFs released by DooMLoRD in his rooting thread are all that's needed for now.
In the case of future updates, if I create and upload an FTF, I will most probably include a kernel FTF in the post for rooting purposes.

What do you mean? It's a C6603 rom, therefore has LTE support.
Enter *#*#7378423#*#* in the dialler, then look in Service info -> Configuration. What does it say under 'Working bands'?

Ah, the LTE option should always show up then. I was unsure on that.
In any case, 3 UK don't have LTE yet, do they?
If you want the option to show up that badly, then try flashing again with no wipe first. After that, if it doesn't solve the issue, your only option is a wipe.
Perhaps something got messed up if you flashed over a custom rom with no wipe.

Can someone confirm, does this build has NFC logo in status bar when turned on?
And if not, guide me to builds, which has one. I know, that France build has it, but it has too much of bloatware, which I don't need.
