Hi!
I heard about vertical lines visible on G2 but on mine I have them visible not only sunlight but also indoor when I'm browsing web. Especially on one color surfaces (google results white, google play background&green bar at top).
Really I'm guessing it's digitizer (line every each 1mm).
It annoying me because the're pretty visible. It is common? Please check in your devices at full brightness.

Yep can see them in sunlight especially with polarized sun glasses. Normal.

I think that's normal. I can also see them when I go outside and the lines reflect with outside light.

Ok but I can see them not only in sunlight, but in typical using. And they're not doted. Maybe that's not digitizer lines?
I can see them on my D803 in any lighting just by tilting the screen a little. Not dotted. Make the screen look like old-school graphing paper from high school. Never bothered me, though.
The extremely high reflectivity of the screen annoys me more. It's basically a mirror under fluorescent lights.

mine are horizzontal is that normal?

I've read a few posts on XDA which mentions the visible banding in gradients. I find it's visible quite often, in the settings menu, in photos, in apps, videos etc. If this is normal then I'm shocked it hasn't been mentioned in any of the reviews I've. I would only expect to see a screen of this poor quality in a cheap brand.

If my Nexus looked like that I would be unhappy.

I have similar banding but not as pronounced probably because my brightness level is lower. I haven't really heard of a N7 that doesn't have this problem to be honest.
Mine has it but I only notice it on dark blank screens and I'm not on dark blank screens very often or for very long.

mine had it, like i was in the point of noticing it and posting about it, but meh...
i changed Theme and its not there, i think its just the low quality design of the notification background....

Seems to be down to a poor quality screen. I guess they had to make sacrifices somewhere to keep the cost down. Thanks for the link toidimaet, I read through it and there currently isn't a fix for stock 4.2.1. I could ask somewhere there if they would mind making one but it sounds like the next official update might also include a fix (if you can call it that) so I might as well wait.
I have the same issue, the only rom which i haven't this problem was PA so that means it isn't a hardware problem? I can't find RadientFix for SmoothRom.
not a screen issue
the N7 has an IPS display panel, which renders colors, well, too accurately. for gradients you can use strong jpeg compression, which is normally not visible on standard screens. the perfect screen also has disadvantages - most mediocre images look awfully.
by the way, all of the wallpapers that are coming out of the box are useless in my opinion for the same reason
Hi Guys
So I was looking at my tab during a lecture and for some reason I noticed something odd. I looked closer and it seemed to me as if the lines on the screen, which we were supposed to be straight...weren't so straight after all :silly:. At first I thought it as my imagination or that my sinus was affecting my sight...but it turns out I was right. My Nexus 7 screen is just about a millimetre off and now that I'm conscious of it, everything feels off. I even had @MattDN93 confirm it.:highfive:
I scanned my actual device to show anyone who's interested. (I didn't trust myself with the right camera angles to capture the problem)
What should I do about this? Would this count as a hardware defect for me to claim the warranty?

Wow, thanks...... Now you've convinced my brain that mine is crooked too. :|
Totally off topic but why does scanning a color screen produce a black and white image?

Perhaps because the scanner was set to scan in grayscale mode?

No that's not it. I just tried with a handheld scanning wand on my computer monitor and got a b&w image also. It was set in color mode.

Well a scanner shines white light at the pixels maybe they reflect white back if they're on with any colour and black if off?
This video shows this cool new feature to aid one handed use:
http://youtu.be/S2Yr7PvgKQw?t=33s
I was surprised to see however that the background color of the unused screen area is blue instead of black - which would make much more sense on AMOLED.
Can that color be configured? Or maybe it's a safety measure against screen burn-in? Also, the border of the box could be a darker color...

Sounds like a cool feature, but I will never use it. It's why I bought a screen that size and not a screen size that it shrinks down to lol. Can be useful to some, but honestly defeats the purpose of the note haha. As for the colors, I have no idea...

I agree. I have big hands and could reach all points of note 2 so I'm not worried about it but nice for some people

I'm sure that color can be changed (at least I THINK I saw black in another video). As for the burn-in, blue IS what causes the burn in. So blue would actually make it much worse.
they probably made it blue so it's easy to see, so when you move it back to original you can place it exactly in place, instead of black where you might find it hard to put back.
unless of course there is a reset....
Hi all,
I've had my 6p for almost two weeks and tomorrow is my last day to return it. They will not extend buyer's remorse to a replacement unit so before tomorrow I need to decide if the issue I have is specific to my unit (get a replacement) or related to the AMOLED panel used on this phone (cancel).
The issue is that colors seem not to converge correctly, just like old CRT screens would. This is most noticeable on high contrast borders such as black text on light backgrounds, which my brain interprets as embossed text rather than nice flat text. Below is a zoomed in example showing this issue, upper borders are reddish/darker and lower ones are greenish/bright.

Anyone else seeing this? my friend's S5 has a similar thing but way less noticeable and i could probably live with it, whereas my 6p is probably too much. Yes this is my first AMOLED.
Thoughts? thanks!

You are joking? Right?
That image is blown up how much??
400%. Otherwise you wouldn't see it on a forum, but real life you can see it with no need to zoom

hi all, I noticed that the screen of my 6t is not uniform ... in a dark room with gray or similar colors in low brightness is lighter on the left while on the right is darker. You can check it with the OLED TEST application , if you put gray and lower the brightness.second you have to do it replace? I have read that the oled screens have this problem almost all and it would be lucky to find one without flaws.
Amoled screens are always a lottery unfortunately. You may get lucky and get a good one or you may get unlucky and get what you got. You can try and exchange but it's not guaranteed they accept it as a fault unless it's really bad. If you are in the return window you can go that then and then by a new one. You might get a better one and you might get one that is worse. I got lucky with mine this time.
In the image it looks a little brighter in the middle but I can't really see that with my eyes it's the camera that's doing that.
