So, a problem I've had for awhile on a stock rooted Note 3 after the last Tmobile update:
Images display correctly in the gallery (nothing here has changed). However, some (but not all) images upload to anything else incorrectly rotated, be it email, Facebook, Dropbox, etc.
It's like somehow the phone is misinterpreting the orientation of the image when sending it to other apps, even though the gallery view is correct. I've not seen this anywhere else or reported after looking a bit. Is there similar experience out there or a possible solution?

I just downloaded a map from Sugarbush Ski mountain in Vermont so I'd have it handy when skiing there. Unfortunately, when I zoom in the image is so blurry that I can't really read the text. The same map looks fine on my desktop computer.
Unfortunately I can't post a link to the map because the XDA developer's site won't allow me to (you can't post links until you've made 5 other posts to the forum). Just google 'Sugarbush' and you will be able to find the static trail map image. Someone else who's been around here longer could post the link in a follow up message.
I've tried viewing it in multiple programs (standard browser, Dolphin browser, gallery view), and all show the same problem.
Can other Nexus one owners confirm that they have the same issue?
Any suggestions?
I think android might downsize/downconvert images automatically so you will not be getting the original resolution of the image.
UPDATE:I can confirm that the image is definitely lower resolution than the one that appears on desktop. Here is the link:

I just mounted my Nexus via USB and checked the file that I'd downloaded to it. The actual file stored on the Nexus One is full resolution and displays fine on the PC. It's just on the Nexus that it fails to display well.
This seems more like a bug then a feature.
I just made a simple 2000x1000 graphic with two strings of text, one aliased and the other antialiased with a crosshatched background.

You can clearly see how blurry both lines of text and the crosshatches are when you zoom in on the android browser or in the gallery. It looks like there is either a huge amount of compression being applied to the image, or that the image is being resized for viewing and the blur effect is due to a loss of detail that you don't get back when you zoom in.
I don't know if imageshack has a bandwidth limit, but here is the same image on imgur.com. You can see the extra effects of blurring, though you also see a lot of jpeg artifacting from the high compression imgur apparently automatically applies.

Hi
just got a galaxy s on tmobile in the UK.
It's good but it seems that lots of images in the browser and displaying in low res, they all look blocky.
It's happening in apps too - the thumbs of peoples faces in facebook are blurred/blocky, images from the engadget app are blocky etc.
I've compared to another galaxy S and the images on that look fine.
Would anyone have any idea whats causing it? thanks
Edit - It seems to be intermittent too. For example, if i do a google image search, the thumbs are sharp, but if I click on a pic and it goes into the slideshow view all the images are REALLY blocky. If I click the link to the original page were the image is coming from the image loads up fine.
It seems to be my carrier, tmobile.
When i put other sim cards in the phone it works fine.
Very annoying, makes buying a nice phone like this for web browsing kind of pointless.
Anyone know of a way to bypass this?
I've been having a pretty random issue with images download from the web. (mostly browsing Reddit).
This happens regardless of if I use an app (baconreader) or chrome and started happening maybe about a month and a half ago.
Every now and then an image will show with about the bottom-half of it discolored. Only way to get the image to load properly is to clear cache and try to reload again. It appears to be downloading incorrectly or something.
I'm worried it may be something wrong with my internal storage but none of my pictures taken from the camera are affected by this at all. I've had no other problems with the phone recently either.
I know Reddit uses Imgur images almost exclusively, so it might be an imgur problem?
I've attached an image showing the problem (taken from Baconreader app, opening in Chrome resulted in almost the same problem except discoloring started at a different location)
Any insight or help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
So I posted this over on Reddit, but then realised that here is probably a better place for more tech users.
I needed to root my OP5 and went through the process.
Now after I've got everything up and running, all my apps installed, and Backups restored - I've noticed something very bad and annoying.
If I use the stock app to take a photo it will take the picture and show it in the gallery preview. But as soon as I try to view that photo using the gallery preview shortcut, or the gallery app, the photo instantly turns completely green.
All other apps take photos fine.
Using stock app Photos work on:
Depth Mode
Normal Mode with HDR Active
Photos are fully green with:
HDR Off
HDR Auto
HQ Mode
Anyone else experienced this?
I really dont want to have to wipe again because it takes over an hour to set up all my accounts and 2 factor auth stuffs...
Just after I wrote this someone on reddit said they had something similar with OP3 - They had to re-flash because of a corrupted build.prop. I rooted to change a bunch of stuff, including editing the build.prop.
I did a little digging and found that if you change the permissions of build.prop then it works.
Changed them to:
Owner - read, write, execute
Group - read
Other - read
Will leave this thread as a reference to others in case anyone else comes across this issue.
Hello guys/girls
I'm having a sort of "bug" when I zoom on or out on Google photos... The zooming seems to be very laggy and slow... Any of you experienced that?
Number firmware?
Nope, works fine in both Google Photos and QuicPick.
Do you mean when you zoom in on the image. First its little blurry and then the details are resolved ( image becomes clear)?
Does this happen on all images?
OR
Images taken by your device
OR
Pics backed up on cloud (google photos backup and you have removed that image from device storage)
If it happens on the downloaded images then what is the resolution?, Size?, Format?
Downloaded images shouldn't cause that bug until and unless image is of very high quality.(taken from professional cameras)
See you left out so many details.
Next time provide more information as it narrows down the cause of the problem. Which in turns gives faster solution.
