According to published info moving apps to ext SDcard in ICS is possible with Gemini App Manager 2.4.5/smile.gif

EZ moving apps to SD
The ability to move apps, folders and media files is built into GT2. Use the native My Files app to drag and drop files from internal to external sd card. Move files from the right pane into the External SD card folder in the left pane.

I've used My Files to move files and folders but would that actually work with an app? I would think the app would become unusable or would it even be seen anymore?

I have moved the apk from the data folder into the external SD card and the apps have continued to work fine. Of course some apps should not be moved, ie: those with Widgets.

I may be doing something wrong since, despite being rooted, I can't seem to get to the Root directory to access Data/App using the My Files app. Would you mind showing us the steps to do that?
With your suggestion, we have to manually move each app that we install? Kinda tedious.
If so, I'll stick to Link2SD.

Sorry, not the same thing. Moving files from int SD to Ext SD is not the same thing as Apps2SD.
The method list in the OP works for me.

thanks! but the data of the apps, which is the more space that has it can't be moved.

Am I the only one that can't move apks to the external SD?
I tried all of these suggested apps but all of them tell me that there is not enough space...
I've an EMPTY 32Gb SD well partitioned (28gb FAT32 and 1gb Ext3). What's wrong on my tablet? :cyclops:

Try gl2sd or directory bind or app2sd but first format the card in s2 or s3 or tab2 device not in computer

Just formatted with the tablet without any result... not enough space!

this does not work and was using v2.5.3 on JB 4.1.1

Stock firmware can't read ext3, u must format your second partition in ext4. Link2sd works, but move only apks data, not all data (u can move an apk of a game but not all 1gb or more...)
Gltosd moves all datas. I use it.
It will be useful if the creator of the script to swap internal/external sd card, will make a p3100 version of his script....:angel:

could and would someone point me in the right direction on how to move apps, how to have things saved i.e. downloaded movies to the external sd card at the point of download,,, it says i can move apps to sd card.. but not the ext... any help would be great. thx

I convert my movies onto my iMac and drag them to my 64gb external
I haven't read up on it as I have a 32gb phone and have plenty of extra memory for my needs. I think only the app can be moved, not data. And not sure how it is done yet until we get the latest OTA. Thought I saw some rom that advertised it--not sure.

Well I was able to get the app I wanted to the ext card and was able to change the directory in the app so now the app is on my ext sd card and it saves right to the ext card...I used es file explorer...I tried it a few times then it finally just showed up on my ext card and not on internal....yeah me lol

Anything you have downloaded (files) you can move to the sd card using the built in file manager. Open file manager, internal storage, downloads folder - select the files to move, then tap the menu icon (top right) and pick move or copy, then browse to the destination.
If you are referring to movie downloads from google play or something like that, you may be restricted. I am not sure as i don't download from the play store.

Yeah I was trying to get movies to download right to ext..ie from browser and what not havent figured that one out yet but I was also referring to an app being moved to ext card and saving data directly to ext card which I did figure out so if you have any input on the browser downloading

You say browser - I use chrome and all downloads go into the download folder in internal storage and you can move to sd card. I am not sure what stock browser does.

Yeah I read the recent update allowed you to install apps to your ext SD but I haven't seen the option to either install there and/or move them. Hmmmm

That update has not USA yet. Only India and Germany I think.

Foldermount is a free app in the play store. Works perfectly. It has you search your Android/data or Android/obb folders and any apps you install from the play store, you can move and mount those directories to your external SD card and it actually works. I have a ton of gameloft games, and everything i mount with this app moves to my 64GB external SD and works perfectly!

Large games on sd card

Hello,
I was searching for a way to put large games like (asphalt 8, nova3, and any other games) on sd card on my rooted samsung galaxy s4 because the internal storage is very low and about to be full.
First i tried to use the file manager i have sent the odd file and the apk(which in the data folder) but the game didn't work, it was searching for required files and asked to download them.
Then i tried many apps which need root acces on my device to send the games on sd card but i got the same problem...
Is there are any way to send the game on sd card and make it work there?

This depends on what rom you're using.
You could try Folder Mount

Actually all these apps aren't useful i can already use any file manager to send the game files to the sd card but the problem is when i add the game to sd card when i open the game it dont find the game's files.
And about which rom am i using i didn't get it and how to know my rom?

I use the xposed module Obb2SD, so all my games are moved to SD card then the Obb files are also moved onto the SD card.
I am using a custom Rom.

If you are using the stock samsung rom then you just have to go to Manage apps and find the game you want to move and the press "Move to sd card".
Moving the apps manually will not work.
Folder Mount will move the app data to the sd card and trick the system into thinking it's on the internal storage.

Did you get the phone new? Did you flash any custom rom on it or is it the stock samsung firmware that comes with the phone?

The only thing i have done with my phoned is rooting it with a custom recovery, there is no any custom roms im just using just the stock rom.

Then the rom should have the option to move apps to sd.
I know that my stock 4.4.2 samsung firmware had that option.
Go to settings > apps > downloaded, and tap any app you want to move. There should be an option "move to sd card" or something like that.

You should be able to do that by using the built-in app manager in settings, but i'm afraid the game data will remain in the internal memory.
You could use Folder Mount (search in Play Store) to move the data to the external SD and make a symlink on the internal memory.

It did with Doom 3. All 4GB transferred to my SD card.
But YMMV depending on the app of course

I have bought Tales From the Borderlands, which BTW plays really nice with the Nvidia-controller. Whereas the app itself is installed on the microSD-card, the game data it self (e.g. the different seasons - and those are several megabytes) will load internally. That's sad.

Apps to externals HDD
ive been trying to figure out how to move apps from the internal memory to an external HDD i alread used the drive to create a TWRP backup, i can also see the drive in ES file explorer but i cant find any apps or method to move app OBB/DATA to an external HDD there are plenty for apps to SD but i need APP to HDD. can anyone shed some light on this? do you have this kind of thing working?

I believe Apps to USB storage will be available when we get an Android M update for the Shield TV.

any news on android m ?

Theres a module thats purpose is to "reroute" those internal folder contents to its counterpart on external sd card
Theres no mention of usb harddrive, but those in this situation thats willing to test and find out......
"Change path to internal SD card on OS level! Android Storage API tweaks.
This module changes path to internal SD card.
You can: change path to internal SD which is returned by System API, change path to obb dirs, app files, download dir (you can have everything on SD card!)
Control it in app settings."

Why does Nvidia even keep putting 16GB options in these tablets and STB? I swear 32GB should be the absolute minimum.

Does the apps to SD support in 6.0 move everything? Obb and Data.
Also will it support moving to USB or external HDD?
If not I would say it's still pretty useless to me.

There is no "best way" until we can figure out a way to get the Shield TV to support EXT4 file system.
I installed a custom kernel on my Galaxy Note 10.1 v2014 16GB tablet so I can use my 64GB external micro SD as "internal" storage. It works fairly well. It's not perfect, but it works well.
Once I got my tablet to recognize EXT4 file system, I was able to format my micro SD to EXT4 use a Windows app, there are several.
Then, I used Link2SD to mount the card as "internal storage".
My internal storage has only 10gb free when it's stock with no apps installed. I cleaned out the bloat and managed to recover another 0.4gb.
Using Link2SD, I'm able to install another 11gb of apps and games onto my tablet. My real internal storage now is about 8.82gb free. The rest of the data is stored on the micro SD.
For a lot of apps, it's able to store 100% of the app's data onto the micro SD.....I mean 100%!
BUGS:
Because of the way my tablet mounts the micro SD, if I ever have to reboot my tablet, then I have to reboot it twice. First, I do a "hard" reboot". Second, I do a "soft" reboot. The first reboot mounts the micro SD. But, because Links2SD loads before the micro SD mounts, it doesn't see it. So, I do a "soft" reboot, which only reboots the Android UI. Links2SD has a built-in feature to do this. After the soft reboot, Link2SD sees it. You have to buy the paid version to move 100% of the data to the micro SD but it was only $2-3.
Once in a blue moon, my NOVA launcher acts weird. I just do the process above and it resets it.
Without directory linking, which is how Link2SD works, then there is no BEST WAY to do this because there's no way Android will move 100% of the app to the external storage. Link2SD creates symbolic link on the internal storage, so when you look at the App Manager, it still thinks it's internal and even gives you the option to MOVE TO SD but don't do that! It's already on the SD.
So, bottom line, if you want this to work for our Nvidia Shield TV's, then you need to spread awareness to Nvidia and devs here about EXT4 file system support and hope that someone can port it to our machines!
