[FAQ's][TUTORIAL] What must I do after update 4.3?

If today Sony roll-out update 4.3, i make FAQ's for you
Q: I have already Unlocked Bootloader, does i can get 4.3 update?
A: Yes, you can get it but you can't install it via OTA or PCC (See this)
Q:What happen when I root my devices, but i dont have unlocked bootloader.Can i get update too?
A: Yes you can update it
Q:How to update while my device has not to get it?
A: Just wait FTF and flash it.
Q: If i get update, how to i can backup my contact, sms and games?
A: You can backup it use Sony Backup and Restore app [Restore 4.3 Method*] ( Or Use App Backup & Restore) in your phone/or used PC Companion to backup
Q: I have rooted my devices, what happen after I update?
A: Your devices will lost root, so you must root again.See second thread

Backup and Restore app in your phone will not work with the backups you have made on 4.1.2 once you get 4.3 . I had the leak 4.3 installed and it said those backups are not compatible. The PC Companion backup worked fine.

i dnt think sony is going to release the update soon....!!
anyway... if i get update notification today... i'll die by heart attack...!! and this is not gonna happen....!!

But i am pretty sure ota and pcc work with root on locked bootloader. I updated from .257 rooted to .254 without any problems

In your OP, the last query..you said that you'll lose root once you update your phone...it usually depends on the way how you updated your phone, i mean thru OTA or PCC? If thru PCC you will definitely lose root, in OTA there is a way to keep root though. Tried it on my SP and works flawlessly:good:

Yes...!! tried rootkit 18... nothing happened,just shows "deamon started"
I flashed 4.1.2 fw's 254 kernel,device started crashing after sony logo...!! This way,we rooted a 2011 xperia,thoug it was also in bootloop..
Bt in the case of SP,nothing is detected...!! So,turned off it using "power off" button and again on fresh 4.3....!

You kept crashing on sony logo coz doom's method to root will not work on .266 anymore because the system in .266 is android 4.3 and the kernel on .254 was of android 4.1.2 hence that kernel dint managed to boot up the system of .266 and kept crashing on sony logo.

On the Z phones a simple factory reset by the pc companion would do fine in removing anything that could harm the warranty

Works perfectly on a SPG512 with 17.1.1.A.0.402 :highfive:

I rooted my Verizon variant with this method and all seems to work ok, had to run it twice however. Installed duel recovery after and making a backup now. All seems to work ok so far. Only thing I've mainly tried is root explorer and it gained SU rights and tested renaming an apk in the system files and worked fine.

That's great news. I mostly want to just debloat. With dual recovery, can we install ROMs should they ever become available?

Okay I have root I used the v10 easy root. Do I just flash dual recovery even though it clearly stats an unlocked bootloader is needed? I don't flash files if I am not sure of their compatibility. Thanks.

I knew they had CM11 on the wifi only version. I wasn't sure if they had a Verizon build. I have found it really difficult to find out what is LTE and what is wifi only.

Use superuser and find the option for full unroot

Most antivirus does that - you'll have to disable the antivirus temporarily to use the exploit.

OTA update for my D855 16GB can't use towelroot anymore

This morning I received OTA updated for my D855 16GB. Before I proceed the update I uninstall all root application (I am already rooted via towelroot) G3 tweakbox, greenify, trickster, etc.
I have updated my D855 just now now software version says v10e-ESA-XX. After the update I can't no longer root via towelroot, it says "this phone isn't currently supported". The OTA says "Power Enhancement", maybe it will affect battery life or so.
Kinda suck anyway, I can't root my device with this ota update, but I still can revert to previous version with LG flash tool and kdz fle but still looking forward to how this will affect my device.

Why not use one of the not-towelroot methods?

Haven't tried yet, but I read ioroot method and currently no support for 10e yet for D855 and purpledrake method still no support for windows pc. So atm I'll have to stick with stock version

Or you could read the Purple Drake thread and find the adb instructions right in there, then have root like the rest of us (if it works on that update of course).

Got the same "device not supported" message when trying to reroot after the update but when I check, I'm still rooted! Titanium,Greenify etc etc still works..Looks like the OTA update didn't lose my root! Hurrah for towelroot!

mine updated this morning from 10a to 10e.
remained rooted afterwards too. . (ioroot)
did uninstall Xposed framework and deselect "enable superuser".
able to enable both again after the update without issue.

Hey. So I've got a newly rooted S5 here (Exynos version). And I was wondering now that OTA updates won't function (rooted), how to get those updates ? And the consequences, Do I lose root after updating ? Can it harm the phone or anythn ?

You've to go back to Stock firmware..
Then you'll able to receive OTA updates..

I understand. But apart from the OTA updates on the phone, There is Kies. But I'm not sure about the consequences and all.

If you update via kies you will loose your root but im not sure kies will let you update with a rooted rom.
Never used kies cause its trash

Nope, I've done it once and lost nothing, was pretty quick and straight forward actually, even kept my current settings.

and what about recovery i can install OTA updates when i have TWRP ? and if yes will i go back to stock recovery ?

Hey I asked a simliar Q before, but wanted to make sure of something. Im rooted on H918 10D and have unchecked 'Automatic system updates' in developer options. Is this enough to stop the 10i update or does this only apply to Android 7.0?
Ive already read flashing the 10i via TWRP or LG Bridge will kill the current root exploit.
My fear is losing root without my choosing.

You could freeze both update apks with titanium that would keep update from running at all.

I did see a slew files but only spotted Update Center 5.30.12, if this is 1 what is the other? com.lge.updatecenter.overlay?
