I mistakenly took a 5mb update on my LG G2 that was rooted and has TWRP on it. Now the phone will only reboot into TWRP. I cannot even get the phone into download mode. Any ideas on what I can do to recover my phone?

I think that may have worked. Im out of twrp but did a full wipe in twrp before trying your method. Stuck on the LG screen now. Gonna hopefully get into DL mode and flash back to stock.

Friend was messing with my vs980. i was on rooted 10b. the OTA came up for 11a and he clicked install now. so it rebooted to twrp. only thing is it will only boot to twrp. no download mode. restoring nandroid doesnt fix it. wiping and installing a rom doesn't get it to boot either. just boots to twrp. uhh...what do i do now?

While trying ti install CM 11 from TWRP i managed to brick the phone. I dont want to waste time sharing the details unless it's need to solve the problem. The main thing is that my phone is now stuck at the LG logo. Previously i was running the CM 10.2 Stable Build.
How can i get back to working condition? Either CM or Genuine LG Rom, I just want my phone to be up and running.
Please Help. I am really scared at this moment.

I can enter both the modes shown in the video.
The thing is i was running CM 10.2 with a TWRP installed of version 2.6.3.2. I downloaded the CM 11 and went into TWRp to flash it but it couldnt flash the CM11. Then after searching the net i found out that TWRP 2.6.3.3 or higher is required to install CM11. The problem is that i wiped my dalvic, data, cache and system and did not keep a backup. So when the Cm11 wont install i was stuck in the TWRP as i didn not have the 10.2 rom file in the phone.
Then downloaded the TWRP 2.6.3.3 and also a CWM zip (just in case). Using ADB i tried to update the TWRM but still some other error shows up. Tried installing the CWm still some error shows up. i tried installing again and this time the recovery asked me to install superuser (though i was rooted). I selected YES and after that i am boot looping in the lg logo.
Anyways thats basically what happened. Now how do i get further and make my phone work again?
Please help brother. I am in deep trouble.

Man... always keep a backup, you know, just in case
Shouldn't be a problem at all. You have ADB access right? So here is TWRP 2.6.3.4 those are flashable ZIPs.
Push the file, flash with recovery, reboot to recovery again and you should be on 2.6.3.4. Then flash CM11 and you are good to go...

But I am stuck in the LG logo now as i mentioned. I cannot access custom recovery mode (as in TWRP).

So you can't enter the recovery like shown in the video? And the command adb reboot recovery doesn't work either?
At this point your only option is to return back to stock and start over but with a recovery from the link I provided in the other thread.

Ok then i will follow this process and hopefully be successful in getting my phone up and running.
Thanks for the help. Downloading 2Gb will take some time. So will post the result tomorrow.
Regarding rooting and installing custom recovery again, i will do that later. For now i just want my phone alive.

Try getting to download mode right now. Because if you can't get to download mode you can't use the back to stock method

I have some questions.
1. Do i have root access anymore?
2. Is my previous custom recovery still in my system?
3. If no for both then please help me with the appropriate article to root, install custom recovery and then install CM11, as my previous recovery was not able to install CM 11.

Heres my situation. I have TWRP Custom Recovery installed on my rooted g2. Tonight my phone decided to automatically take the OTA update for sprint, and i was stock booting to twrp. I powered off the device and tried to boot it back up, but it went straight to twrp. SO i decided to restore a back up i had. Did that, after it was done, rebooted. and it still came back to twrp. IN a panic, i went to wipe, and did a factory reset. Which completely wiped everything, obviously, including my backups. So now im stuck with a phone booting into twrp and not being able to do anything. I just want stock firmware, no root and back to stock recovery. As you can tell, im pretty new to this.
Someone pleaseeee help me!!!
Try to download stock rom and put it in USB. In twrp flash the Rom via USB-otg. Or try this If you want to go back to stock Unrooted.

Ok ill try this, im downloading the files now. If this doesnt work, could i possibly try flashing another rom through twrp??
No, they will all fail. Never ever take otas when rooted. Once you have reverted to stock and rerooted then load custom rom or delete the update files so this never happens again

Nick, did you resolve this? I'm in the same boat, but by a different path.
I wanted to flash a zip, the cwm I had installed failed to flash it, so I decided to use flashify to flash Philz modded CWM, since then, I can only boot to recovery.
On hind-sight, there was an update threatening to install..
I can only boot into recovery, can't seem to get into download mode. Cant sideload, as ADB does not recognize.

If you need ADB, you may have to change your driver to LGE single sooner adb device (device manager)

So I did just that and when prompted to restart the phone, it did and loaded directly in to TWRP. I tried to just reboot from there and it kept going back to TWRP. So I tried to recovery from a backup, same thing, right back to TWRP. Also, I can't get into download mode. What do I do?

You need to first download the kdz and lg flash utility with drivers.
Install drivers
The factory reset deleting system, cache, internal sd.
Then shutdown your g2.
Start to downloaded mode connecting your g2
Flash kdz & voila... Done
I too bricked my phone before. My flashing stuck at 49%. Recovered using above method, all is well now
This works 1000%. I bet on it. Just remember to wipe the phone completely before flashing. You will return to stock with unrooted status in download mode. U will have your warranty back too

I was using CloudyG3 and decided to return to stock through KDZ method. I wiped everything with TWRP but when my phone got to the download stage, it stopped at 2%. I rebooted the phone but now i can't even get to twrp or download recovery. Any sugggestions?
