Hey. Today by the accident I did photo in totally dark room and I notice that middle of the screen is dark and outside till edge is getting more lighter I'll post photo of this what I did.
Please everyone to make test photo in totally dark room and let me know if only I've this issue or everyone have same problem otherwise I need to go to store change him (3 time) for new

You have to watch on it in the night or where is totally dark. And if you zoom in this photo/screen shot you can see that middle part is totally dark and edges are more light.
And yes I removed lens protection sticker

I played a little bit with Photoshop with your black picture. I think it is totally normal that you cannot get a real 100% black picture out of a cam. A dark room is not 100% black for your cam. Maybe for your eyes. And even if you would make a photo of an ideal 100% black room in the end you would make a photo of your cameras chip noise. But the picture for me looks more like a litte rest of light the camera could fetch.

Ok looks like you make my pic way easy to see for everyone but you can check if is same at yours s5 ?
I just need to know if every s5 have a same issue because my nexus5 in same room same time have no this issue !!
I tried to make a black picture. it looks similar to yours but it is nearly black (more than yours). I pressed my black soft S5 bag on the camera lens.
So I still think its not an issue but it shows that the S5 camera is much more sensitiv to distinguish between black and nearly black than other cameras that recognize 100% black where the S5 recognizes 98% black. No issue for me.
I would like to say that samsung galaxy s4 have no this issue so I go to change my s5 for new.... again.... what for full of problems phone... really disappointed. ... photo is prove

What you are looking for is a theoretical ideal camera that makes a 100% black picture of a 100% black original. You won't find such a camera anywhere.

Hi All - had my Note for a couple of weeks now, hardly used the camera but just tried it and there is a pink tint/hue at the centre of the camera view area which shows on taken pics too. Wondering if anyone else is having this issue. I have the international/UK white version of the Note.

Yes Ive seen the problem with the S2, however its really noticeable and it seems that Samsung have not fixed the problem at all. Really quite disappointed with it on such a high end device.
i saw it happen once recently with low light and low screen brightness on one camera app. but didnt happen with other camera apps. dont remember which app though. so try other camera apps to see if it is an app problem. turn up screen brightness and see if issue resolves
this problem is very common (the HTC devices i owned had the same issue) and there is not really a solution to it for now. the reason for this problem is within the optics, it CAN be compensated software-wise, but there is no 100% compensation possible. also this occurs only for specific wavelengths, therefore the light-source is important too!
All due to cheap sensors. The sensor isn't big enough to let sufficient light in so the darkest part (the center) gets the weird pink effect. You won't see too much of this when you're out in a sunny day.
This is just the nature of the game with cellphone sensors.

mine is a perfect mix of VIBGYOR pattern (white!)
mine is sometimes green.
but its seams to be problem with the AWB (auto white balance) and artificial light sources. If I change my WB to a daylight (or what ever) the pink/green spot is gone. When i switch back to AWB most of the time the pink/green spot is also gone
i would appreciate if you can test this

The flower had a pink ting to it, will take a photo with the IPHONE 4 and also with my Fujifilm Camera as well for comparison tomorrow.

You are right, just took the torch to have a look at it, there is pink but not as much as in the photo, Oh well, I mainly use it as a phone.
Is there a way to minimize it or it is hardware?
Also the picture in the above post by "ahalford" also have a bit of pink in it.

Indeed. Adjustable, though, through Photoshop in 1 second. Mainly can be seen on "Auto white balance" setting.
Here is one more. Focusing on red-orange gamma, whites in the background also get warm tones.
Anyways, Galaxy camera after HTC's is a revelation.

It's a purely hardware issue. To the extent that it can be minimized is based on software.
No amount of megapixels can make-up for the fact our all camera phone sensors are ridiculously small, and thus cannot capture sufficient light which creates the pink effect. =) It is also for this reason that you will not see this effect when the place is extremely bright (e.g., taking a picture outside on sunny day while under the sun and not in any shaded areas).
Once you know how to look for it, you'll know that this happens across platforms. Camera sensors just suck. Every photo I've seen from a camera phone that is not well lit has exhibited this effect.
You could always take pictures along the red-spectrum. It'll be camouflaged that way if it bothers you. *Shrugs* Or keep flash enabled all the time.

In photo 1, I do not know why the ceiling lights are like that.
I changed various settings but there was no improvement.
In some cases, the overall color of the room changed.
In photo 2, the room appeared to be dark but it was not.
I changed the flash to auto, on along with changing other
settings. The room still appeared to be dark.
In photo 3, again, that place was not dark. Setting the flash
to auto or on did not help.
In photo 4, everything including the room appears to be somewhat yellowish.
In reality, the wall is white and the pillows are gray.

Thanks for the suggestion but I am not a professional. I don't know how various settings affect the results. By the time I have tested out various settings, things that I want to capture will have been gone.
ah now things are getting clearer . your pictures looks a little bit like something is wrong with the 'white balance' of your camera. so you can try different settings for the white balance, the default should be automatic (AWB). I'm not an photoexpert too, but maybe some one else can guide you further with this.
Thanks for pointing this out. I also tried white balance but it did not help. Perhaps I did not do it properly. Hoping somebody could provide some tips. Are the strong glares from the ceiling lights in photo 1 also caused by the white balance?

This effect on the ceiling lights is due to a hardware fault, there are no settings within the phone that can correct this. You can try, like me, and use photoshop. For me, its no problem because I have used photoshop for many years, but others are not so fortunate. This fault is well documented. Samsung know about it, yet have done nothing to correct it. The only way is to send the unit back to the retailer for a new unit. I tried three or four brand new units and they were all the same.
In general. The camera has limitations because of its size and proximity to other circuitry that may introduce noise etc. Its 8megapix with a tiny lens, so as is, I feel it does a pretty good job (apart from that pink dot that is). To get better pictures, consider post processing with photoshop. If that's not an option, and quite frankly I would not recommend purchasing it just for pics from any camphone, try the GIMP, its free and does an awful lot to enhance your pics. You can find the GIMP here www.gimp.org it will run on linux, windows and the Mac

Good question. I know the S2 does, and we all know about the Galaxy Note. I can see evidence of the problem on a slashgear.com presentation, and its that presentation that stopped me from going over to the S3. However, there are plenty of youtube tests where it seems pretty good. The S3 has only just been released, so it might be a while more before any issues become apparent. I think its one where you try before you buy. Personally, I'm not touching either the S3 or the 'Note until I have proof that the issue has been resolved.
Edit. The fault is commonly known as "the pink dot"
In photo 1 was the lens clean? Might sound obvious but even the slightest bit of grease or diet can affect how sources of light spear in photos. Typically in any photo I take where I light bulb or something similar is in the picture if the lens was not completely clean I got a similar effect as in photo 1

Well, there must be a lot of pink dirt around. My crappy clam phone must have pink dirt repellent, because no matter how greasy the lens gets, pics from it don't have a pink dot. Neither does my DSLR when the uv filter gets filthy, or my specs come to that. Sorry, but the dirt bit on this issue is a red herring. The camera has a defect.
I use UCam. A lot of "pro" settings and also some cool. And... you can disable shutter sound.

i think you should send the device to service/repair, because i think this is an hardware issue. i saw a lot of pictures taken by the note (not only my own device) and they are al just fine with the standard settings.
I just noticed that there is a protective film covering the back camera. Probably Samsung put it there to protect the lens. Do you think this is the cause to all of my problems? Am I supposed to remove it? For the first few days after purchase (3 weeks ago), the Note took excellent photos. As for last week and the week before that, it depends. The thin protective film has been there right from the beginning. Let's say the protective film covering the lens caused the pink dot, how do you explain why the cafe in photos 2 and 3 appeared to be dark whereas in reality, it was not. Also, photo 4 looks yellowish overall.

Protective film would most likely create the effect on pic one. (which would be visible when a direct light source or reflection is in the frame.)
Pic two - could be a metering issue. Try changing the (cog wheel =>) metering setting and / or exposure level.
Yellowish photo is the result of incorrect "white balance". Change the white balance setting to incandescent.
I'm using both the stock ICS camera and camera zoom fx. On my previous phone the fx produced much better photos than the stock one. On my G - Note I don't see much difference.

Yes you are supposed to remove it. It does say so in the instructions that came with your phone. Check the camera after you have done this.
Hey, to those who already have the galaxy s4 can you confirm with me if its noticeably brighter than the galaxy s3? I know it's 258 lux in comparison to 213lux on the galaxy s3 but in real world use does it help a bit with sunlight legibility? Also is the screen less reflective than the s3?

According to DisplayMate, on autobrightness it gets extra 30% brighter than on manual max.
Hey. Last night I noticed my SGS4 has a very reddish tint to an all black screen, compared to my SGS2 which is truly black (no light emitted).
During the day it is not noticeable but in pitch black you can see a strange dark red glow in black areas.
Anyone else experienced this?

Take a picture of it. If the screen is faulty, better replace it.
I'll try to make a picture later tonight. With the naked eye it was easy to see...

If any black background has visible red tinting to it you should definitely contact Samsung or the store.

Sorry that I sold my phone already (check my thread), but I did try to do it but it's not as noticeable as seeing in the real life, or my cam is not enough for capturing the screen correctly
To see the red blacks you have to be in a very dark room. Mine has it too.
The only thing I dont like about the screen is that Samsung seems to have omitted the antireflective/oleophobic coating around the menu and back buttons, making fingerprints on the buttons stand out

I need help to report this issue to Samsung, i cant find any reference online, tried with my GN20 Ultra and my wifes as well.
Alright, heres the issue. In a very dark room, when trying dark mode with the ultra wide lense, 50% of time after a long processing time, photo comes as a white noise with lines, i will post some pictures, and trust me i can make this happen anytime. So far it only happens with the ultra wide lense using dark mode on a really dark environment like stated.
Ok so now after uploading some photos i realized while zooming happens the same, wtf!
Can someone else please give this a try and report back!

That could be hardware (the banding indicates that)... if it persists.
Noise should be more or less evenly spread out.
See if lower temperatures alter it.
Try clearing cam data and clear the system cache from the boot menu. Do a hard reboot.
My thought is it will still be there...

UPDATE:
I went to Best Buy and exchanged the unit, now i have a "brand new sealed box" Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, i went home, went to the closet, really really dark, dark mode enabled, using ultra wide lense, out of 5 shots, got 3 with the same strange noise!

Nothing, i just did a screen recorder, so i can sort of prove whats happening, but idk if i can upload videos here! It keeps happening, but like i said, dark room, as soon the sensor sees any sort of light it will give me a pictured as expected, grainy, or dark but a picture!
This is crazy, and i can do the same with my wifes GN20 Ultra!

Grainy is normal, prominent lines are not.
In a perfectly dark room you'll see random background noise from the cam sensor it's self; this is normal.
If you cool the cam the noise level will decrease and increase as it gets hotter.

It was not completely dark but I just tried again in a completely dark room and just got a normal black picture. I'll try a couple more times later incase its not consistent.
