Tapatalk Issue - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I can't login to Tapatalk. It keeps saying "Connection Error" or "Directory is currently unavailable. It may be due to your carrier APN settings or you have installed altering software such as Adblock." I've uninstalled Adblock and rebooted several times. Any clue on how to get Tapatalk to work again? I've researched this issue but can't seem to find a solution that works.

having the same issue. IDk why but its driving me nuts.

I just wanted to chime in and say I'm having the same issue on my Moto X Dev Edition. But, it works perfectly fine on my Dev Edition M8 (and has since I got the phone). I've removed all ad blockers and rebooted as well and even did a factory reset and started over and I'm still having this issue.

Same issue here

If you are using adfree, it's because adfree blocks access to the login server. Just add
Code:
directory.tapatalk.com
to adfrees whitelist.
Just go to
http://adfree.bigtincan.com/
Login and manage your whitelist
Then you have to update the hosts file using the app.
That did the trick for me.

[Q] 4.2 - Installing & Updating Apps no longer works

I had a very demanding week at work and during a session of mental autopilot, I allowed a friend who had updated his Nexus 7 to 4.2 - talk me through updating MY Nexus 7 to 4.2 (kernel ver. 3.1.10-g22b4fcd). This is something I would never have done without a little checking to see what kinds of problems people were having, but I wasn't thinking clearly and gambled that it wouldn't cause any major problems.
The first thing I noticed was that none of my apps would update. Every time it reports an "Error retrieving information from server. [RPC:S - 5:AEC - 0]". I then tried installing an app from the Google Play Store, and got the exact same error. This happened with several apps.
I've had mixed results installing from the Amazon App Store, with a couple successes. However, it doesn't seem to log me in automatically like it used to. At least the installs were successful.
Next, I used Android Task Manager to Stop the Google Play Store app and Clear Cache and Clear Data and then cycled the power of the Nexus 7.
No Luck. I'm still getting the "Error retrieving information from server" message whenever I try to execute an update or downloading a new install.
I sure hope I don't have to revert back to 4.1.2 because I'm going to have a hard time getting everything setup and working the way I had it.
What should I try next? I greatly appreciate any help suggested. Thanks!
Solved
I created a new account and logged into it. Then I deleted my old account and re-booted the tablet. When restarted, I added my old account and logged into it. Now the updates are working without error.
I hope this helps someone.
I'm having the same issue on 4.1.2

Just fixed the issue by deleting my Google account and adding it again.

Reverting back to GOOGLE PLAY 3.9.17 works, too.
Yep, that worked - just download from here and install ---> http://www.mediafire.com/?zqzgh798ybzo8b7

Tried this but unable to install it, likely because I uninstalled the Google Play Store updates and it rolled itself back to 3.9.17
Removing/re-adding account didn't work either, even w/ a reboot + clearing cache/data of the Google Play Store App.
4.2

"No Connection" in Play Store

Everytime I try to go to the Play Store it says "No Connection" with the Retry button, but that never works. I just downloaded some apps today, and now it doesn't work. Any ideas on what went wrong with it in the short time? I've tried checking my time, and a few other fixes I've found but none worked.
I'm on a Stock ROM Sprint G2 with KitKat.
You should delete hosts file in system /etc

I was using WiFi, for some reason it just started working again? After numerous restarts not working it just started working, so I'm not sure what the problem was, but it seems that the temporary glitch corrected.
Thanks for the help anyway though guys!
same issue
This same thing is happening to me. I deleted the "hosts" file from /etc but the issue still remains. Can anyone please please upload a "hosts" file for me and see if that works. I don't have my computer on me since I forgot it at my brothers house when I went to go visit him last week and he lives 400 miles away. I would really appreciate of someone could help me out or give me other alternatives since I'm not sure what else I could do.
I'm running stock Rom with root. Tmo D801. Thank you guys.

Chase Bank App

So after updating to NC2 Kitkat all apps are functioning as one would expect, save for one: the Chase Bank app. I repeatedly try to log in and it accepts my credentials, forwards me to a confirm identification by using an authorization code screen. From there I click email/text/call to get an authorization code which comes promptly.
The problem is when I enter it in, it accepts it then spits an error station that my accepted login credentials are incorrect (they're not) and I'm rerouted back to the login screen to repeat the cycle in futility.
Now what's odd is if I go to the mobile site using ANY browser on my phone (stock browser, chrome, Firefox, opera, tried em all) it will do the SAME thing. However, the moment I click "use desktop mode" and try to log in using the full site, it works perfectly, no hiccups whatsoever.
So, this means something on my phone is blocking the use of the mobilized versions of Chase's site. My first thought was my ad blocker. I disabled that completely and uninstalled it, rebooted, and still no dice.
Any ideas? Had anyone else had this same experience? I'm running stock, rooted, de-odexed Kitkat NC2 for reference. No tweaks aside from Wanam via Xposed framework.
Another thought was maybe it's checking my root status as ISIS Mobile Wallet does. Thus I downloaded a root cloak (aptly called rootcloak in Xposed download section) for just such apps. Alas, this too is not the problem.

Im on nc4 non rooted device and the app works flawlessly. Not sure if this helps you just adding my .02 A lot of the lil bugs I encountered were gone after a full reset. maybe u should try it.

I'm using NC4 rooted and Chase is working fine for me. I never had to verify though because I restored the app from titanium backup. It may be obvious but did you try clearing the app data? Maybe you have a backup to restore from when it was working?
Edit: Rereading your post, I also successfully used Chase on NC2. Also, you can use Titanium Backup to restore an app and data from a nandroid backup if you didn't backup through titanium.

[Q] Anyone have FoxFi working in 4.4.2 NC4?

I'm stumped here. I can't for the life of me get it to work.
1. Click activate hotspot
2. Get prompted to install certificate, asked for cert name
X. Then I get stuck at Enter password for credential storage.
I have no idea what this password might be, it's certainly not any password I've ever used.
I've tried various work-arounds found on teh google but none work so far.
Anyone have any magic to get this working?
Info: Stock rooted NC4, wanam xposed, couple of other modules, some bloat frozen with tibu etc.
Install the x tether module and use the stock hotspot app
Thanks, that works just as well as a workaround.

I am stock, not rooted and it works fine after the latest OTA. It is a bit annoying because sometimes the popup certificate warning comes up, other times it doesn't...but then you have to click the hotspot on within 30 seconds before it works.
I'll be glad to get home and get them to replace this thing. FoxFi is the only thing that works reliably after the OTA.

[Help Needed] WIfi issue with Nexus 4

Hi,
With my N4, I am able to connect to my home wifi and I can browse through Chrome, can open any website etc.
Until last week, everything was working fine with WiFi. But suddenly, it stopped connecting to Play store. But, whatsapp and other such apps were working fine with WiFi/GPRS.
I did a factory reset, didn't help. Then, sideloaded v5.1. Soon after the update, when tapped on Play store, it says "Couldn't sign in, Can't establish a reliable connection to the server". I am not able to set up any google account yet. I cant even install any app yet.
If I tap on play store or say add account in gmail: if first tries to connect something as shown in 1.png, after some times throws error shown in 2.png.
I was having LRX22C(v5.0), sideloaded LMY47O (v5.1), the problem still persists even after the update. I checked the /etc/hosts file, it has a single line: 127.0.0.1 localhost. So I think, there is no point in rooting my N4 to tweak hosts file.
Pls help.
Thank you
It work in 3G?
If yes, try another radio!
If din't work, install the factory image of 5.1 and then flash your ROM

It worked with 2g, didn't try with 3g.
Side loaded the ota update only, do u still think installing factory image will make any difference? This is the first time I flashed my N4.

Try to flash the factory with the Nexus RootToolikit.
It is for Windows/Ubuntu/Mac. (http://www.wugfresh.com/nrt/)
Try it, for me if you flash with NRT you'll solve your problem.
With this flash, NRT flash the correct radio for your phone.
It work, try

why do u guys think, wifi is behaving this weird? Its working for every other thing except for google play?
Changing the radio is the only solution? It used to work well until last week.

Does it connect to the Google Account through other WiFi Access Points? (meaning the issue could be some network side issue with your LAN)
Could it perhaps be a Google side issue? The message says it could not connect, or is not provisioned. Is it possible your device is somehow blacklisted?
If everything else aside from that works on WiFi, I do not think this is a WiFi/Radio issue with your phone.

I am yet to check on other WiFi access points.
Any idea on how to ensure that my device is not blacklisted? But, if it is blacklisted, it should not have worked with my mobile connection. Another thing is, say, I logged into play store with my mobile data connection and set up a gmail account. When switched back to WiFi, I can sync my account without any problem. Suffice to say that device is not blacklisted??

I am not sure, as I am not up to date on Google's Security policies, but you might try calling them. That said, are you saying you can log into all of the Google Services if on mobile, but just not on WiFi? If that is the case, and you do not have issues otherwise on Wifi, I would guess there is an issue with your router or firewall settings on your LAN.
