[Q] Need root to delete wrong APN? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

I recently bought a used AT&T Galaxy S4 i337 that came with 4.4.2 and NC1. I have a Net10 SIM in it and everything works save for MMS messaging. I created a new APN with the correct Net10 settings and selected it but the AT&T APN is greyed-out cannot be removed and appears to still be in use in regards to MMS (there's a little box that says "Turn APN on/off" that can't be unchecked).
I've been scouring this site for the past few days an cannot find a solution for just deleting a "locked" APN from this phone. I was hoping to find an easy solution but everything points to downgrading to get root and then manually deleting of editing the offending APN? Need to get this working regardless so it doesn't matter how difficult this will be.
Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

i'd suggest calling VZW also, to confirm you're account has mms enabled. might also be something in the switch, even with the provisioning on your account level, it might not be enabled in there.

[Q] cannot create apn broadband

Hello! I cannot create a new apn with apn type "broadband". It just doesn't want to save. It disappears after save. I should mention I'm living in Romania and have a AT&T S4 with android 4.4.2. Everything else is working fine, but want data connection to work also. Could somebody tell me what can I do for this? Thank you!

Apn settings greyed out

Hi, I have an s8 originally VZW, with G950U1 firmware and Total wireless sim, when i go to apn settings the option to add is greyed out, it only gives me a profile default for Tracfone apn, which i can't edit. How can i solve this problem?
Create a new APN with the correct settings and activate that APN.

im in the same boat, bought the s8+ black online no carrier attached and i popped in my verizon sim. i want to edit the apn but everything is greyed out. i think its a possible sim issue. i put my brothers tmobile sim and everything worked.
I am hoping you have solved the problem by now. When I found I had the same problem, I went to the page with the "add" grayed out,and instead tapped the only apn that was there, and another window opened up with the apn address field being the only dark one there, so I clicked on it, backspaced the wrong address out, and typed in the preferred one. Done. I still can't add any more, but you can edit the one that is there...

APN Editing

Whats up guys. I have a rooted ATT H910 running the latest WETA rom (US996) on it. I bought a SIM in Japan and am trying to utilize it but am having issues. I've searched through the forums and elsewhere online but most of the hidden menu settings either don't work for me or are inaccessible. Inputting codes such as ##DATA# do not even work for me.
When my ATT SIM is used, I can access the APN settings. Adding a new APN works but when I swap the SIM it is no longer there. The SIM I am trying to use is COMST. Is the inability to modify the APN with the COMST SIM related to the rom I am using? And if so, can anyone recommend where I can edit the APN manually through a file? Thanks in advance!
Also, I tried using Offline SIM APN Database but it says no SIM detected. I am showing 2 to 3 bars of reception so I know the SIM is inserted and working.

Anyone?
@reigndropz
Go to PS and download shortcut master
Look on the 3 dots on your right top
Click search
Type apn
Look for unlock apn
And click launch this will display the menu and click unlock apn
Back again
Look for apn settings and launch and edit what you looking for and look on the 3 dots on your right top and save and reboot

Thanks so much for replying. I never noticed the unlock apn setting. I did as you instructed but after a reboot, nothing stuck still. I have 3 bars as well so I know it recognizes the SIM at least.

APN greyed out and WiFi calling

EDIT: Nevermind, switched carriers. Mods please delete this thread.
Hello all. Background info:
MetroPCS. I had WiFi calling prior to 8.1 stock while rooted.
The way I did it was to delete all APN settings one by one until the T-Mobile ones appeared and edit one of them.
Problems:
Unable to get WiFi calling to work.
Unable to delete APN "MetroPCS 260 dun"(fields are greyed out and only options are "save" and "discard) (though the others are deletable).
Can't add new APN with appropriate settings because an APN with the MVNO type set to "none" won't save.
Things I've tried:
Updating e911 address via app and MetroPCS customer service 3 times.
Factory reset.
Reflash ROM.
Extract sim and reinsert it.
Meddled with the APN config file and since restored it.
I'm perplexed by this situation since I haven't seen or heard of anyone who can't delete "MetroPCS 260 dun"
Any ideas as to why this is happening and how I may fix it?
Thanks in advance.
