The ir blaster works fine for my TV but I use a htpc running MCE. Does anybody know how to get the s5 to work with a htpc?
There's an app called "Smart Remote" on the playstore. It costs a few bucks, but you can control almost every device, that has IR.

There's a free app called suremote that has the option to control windows media center with ir as well as other ir devices. Works on my win7 MCE. Buttons are cramped and seperaed into different tabs but at least it works.

I heard somewhere that u can use xbox 360 to dlna with epic. Is this possible? I tried google but cant find anything. I didnt think the 360 had dlna but i read everywhere that u can dlna with ps3 and xbox 360.
PS3 uses a special DLNA protocol, UPnP, and I don't thing the PS3 uses that particular protocol. Look at the specs on the Dlink DNS 323, it has an auto stream compatible with PS3 and XBOX.
any way to use dlna between epic and xbox without the dlink? or is the 360 not compatible?
You could always give the Twonky Mobile server app a try.

First off, are you running the Allshare App on the Epic and trying to configure it from there?

I just want to know if the 360 even supports dlna before i even try. i thought 360 doesnt, but i keep reading that ps3 and 360 both can do dlna. I tried googling but to no avail. I dont have the wireless adapter for the 360, but if it can do the dlna then i might consider purchasing it. So if anyone with a 360 and the wireless adapter for it can try it would be appreciated. I'm not sure if im ever even going to use the feature since my laptop has hdmi, but it would be nice to show it off
I just messed around with this for a few minutes. How I got it to work was :
1. Open windows media center on pc
2. Turn on 360, push the windows circle on the middle of the remote and to to the tab that has media center on it. Open it, you will get a code for setup after a step or two
3. Get the code and go to pc
4. Go to extenders on the pc media center and enter the code
5. It should be set up now
Then go to your phone > all share and let it do its thing. Select the appropriate option and play list items then select xbox 360 media center and it should play.
I played some mp3's without issue. I didn't try any video yet.

Not sure about dlna but upnp for sure.
Thanks Aridon, that was helpful and I have it working now! Now that it is setup, I do enjoy using the DLNA. The phone acts like a remote control which is sweet. Also the sound comes through my surround sound setup instead of the whimpy TV speakers.
on My Desire HD i can Stream to XBOX360
but only in the XBOX360 Media Center Extender Menue...
here what i have done...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=794578&highlight=xbox360+dlna&page=6
i also tried mobile Twonky Media Server,
this works in normal XBOX Video Photo or Musik Medu (no Media Center Extender needed) but it dont play my Videos recorded with my Desire HD on my xbox360
Xbox supports dlna but it is only active when connected to a media center. It doesn't make sense dlna should always be active but its not. but that's how I stream from windows media player from windows 7 and epic.
To xbox.

im going to try this on a ps3
So no luck for OSX users huh since we don't have windows media center
If you use twonky then you don't need media center

I tried to run install twonky on OSX 10.4.11 the server starts up then shuts itself down and I can't connect to the config page in the browser, it's very frustrating
Just in case anybody is wondering this works fantastic on a ps3 and without needing a pc.

I meant use the twonky app on your phone, it will show up on your xbox as twonky server as long as it is running on your phone and will play any supported content without needing a pc

Yea but it works better on an xbox since you can use the phone as a remote
It is really to bad, I like to use my ps3 to watch media.
I will say I have a samsung tv and the dlna on it is horrendous, nothing works.

Has anybody tried plugging their phone straight in using usb cable?
I tryed pluging the phone into the usb ports and the xbox doesn't detect it. I just recently had to reformat my external hard drive, into Fat32 format, to make it xbox compatiable. I'm guessing you must do the same with yours phones memory card.
Where do I get. this Twonky Media Server?? I searched the market and google, but I can't find it
:edit: I found it in the market, just search twonky not twonky media server, it works pretty awesome streaming to my xbox music works fine, some pictures don't show up and videos I haven't bin able to try because I don't have an internet connection now.
thanks!
sweet. thanks guys.
so to summarize for future readers, go into xbox 360 media center & get code then go into computer media center -> extender -> add code. then, to play from dlna phone (epic, fascinate, etc.) go into xbox 360 media center then use allshare on dlna phone.
worked for me!
Saw dlb92 post for a PS3 remote, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=823364. I thought someone could know or develop a remote control software to replace the Apple Remote, http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC377LL/A?fnode=MTY1NDA2OA&mco=MTMzNzcxODY.
Been finding an Android software alternative to remote control, most can just work with iTunes. I need one that could work with Mac iTunes and DVD player. Especially something that could adjust volumes. Best if it could work thru bluetooth like the Apple Remote.
Thanks

I just noticed that ...
They do. But there's software which can replace the apple remote for the iPhone. It works similar to the media centre remotes with a piece of server software on the Mac and then the client on the phone

i actually need a remote for DVD Player, to pause and also lower/increase volume. I've heard of Apple remote programs for iPhone, but i dont want to buy iphone..
Off the top of my head, I'd suggest looking into the possibility of using your choice of ssh client to connect to the mac, then using a combo of shell scripts / applescripts to interact with DVD Player. Works like a champ with iTunes, so I'd be surprised if DVD Player won't play along... I'll try and investigate for ya'.
The only remote I tried that works with dvd is gpad, iirc. I can play the dvd and that's all. I can't adjust volume or pause the dvd..

Alright!! Got my nexus player today. Got it rooted and installed es file explorer and kodi woot woot. Video quality is amazing. Streaming so fast.
Quick couple of questions.
Is there a way to send files from phone to player via es file explorer?
Also, is there a way to make the nexus 5 a remote for the player? The keyboard function on the player is so awful lol

I believe you can use es file explorer to send files with google drive, afaik. I used teamviewer's file transfer but that was from PC to NP.
I actually use a wireless controller from android to control my NP since the remote is rubbish compared to a full keyboard wireless remote.
Hey what controller is that? I would love to use my nexus 5 to control this thing. I cant wait to get my ps3 controller hooked up and running. play some n64 on this bad boy

I actually used 2 different ones. I'm currently using this one as it's alot slimmer, however this one works perfect, i just didn't like that it didn't have a power button like the first one does.
Things to note:
The black one worked flawlessly on my minix, it has 3 android buttons (menu, home, back) which didn't have any problems on my minix, when i got my NP, for some reason the back button acted as a mouse click.
I ended up remapping the page up and page down buttons via the generic.kl to remap them to backspace and escape so it would work better on kodi.
The black one also has reprogrammable IR buttons so i can program the remote to turn off my tv and adjust my TV volume if i need it louder/softer than android/kodi allows.
the white one doesn't have any problems aside from the personal preference i mentioned earlier, it doesn't have a power button, nor does it have reprogrammable IR buttons like the black one does.
Yeah those wireless controllers look cool. I'd rather just use my nexus 5's. I have one that is essentially a WiFi nexus 5 touch deal. The cell antenna is fried from water but everything else works. I was using it to stream with Chromecast bit Chromecast kinda stunk for me. Would love to turn it into a dedicated remote for the player.

I got in the Unlocked S8+ last week (returning it for the Unlocked S8) and was wondering what happened to DLNA support? All my past Samsung phones (S3/4/5, Note2/3/4/5) and LG G5 have supported DLNA in some form, which allows the phone's Gallery app to view content on my Windows 7 PC.
But with the Unlocked S8+ that I have now, I don't see this anywhere on the phone.
I found this on the Verizon site:
https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-210974/
But doesn't seem to work on Unlocked S8+ that I have.
Maybe you need to install an app?
I installed bubbleUPNP and MediaHouse, both let me read from my computer running serviio or cast it to my DLNA TV as well. I'd not tried it with my S6, so don't know how it used to be done, but with either of those apps it works fine.

I know with my other Samsung phones, no additional app was needed, as the included Samsung Gallery app was able to connect to my Windows 7 PC via DLNA to view images/videos.
I would of thought the S8 Gallery app would do the same thing.

Use Samsung Connect.
Share the video/image whatever and use the "view content on tv" or whatever suits your needs.
