Hi everyone,
I frequently install new custom ROMs on my i337. I use Naver LINE as my primary messaging app, but your account is tied to your email and supposedly the device ID. If it doesnt match, it will delete your chat history.
I tried using Titanium Backup to restore my previous ID when putting in a new ROM but LINE still recognized the phone as a new device. Anyone have an idea on how to make the new ROM get recognized as the previous one?

Backup the LINE APP+DATA and SETTINGS (system apps). Install new ROM process whatever. Restore LINE APP+DATA. Manage Android ID, restore from backup (should be one option available). Click yes, let it reboot. Everything should be in LINE again in the new rom. Tested over 50 times as I am also a flashaholic.
Idk what went wrong with your method, but you didn't mention that you backed up and restored LINE APP+DATA before trying to restore the Android ID. If you already tried that... idk.
I think what I missed in this post is I didnt restore app data. I did exactly wgat you said on my flash last night and it worked! Does this work between different ROMs? Not just updates of the same ROM?

I can not say with ABSOLUTE certainty that it will always work, but it has consistently worked for me between numerous roms, OS versions, and different phones (ie, transferring user data from an old phone to a new phone).
Between phones? Wow. Thanks for the advice!

Hi, TASL.
You may or may not be viewing any replies on this topic anymore, but in case you are, would you be able to explain the steps you have provided in as much detail as possible?
I am completely new to android and have never used Linux before either. I have been putting in some hard yards over the past few days and burned around 6 hours of trying to understand all the related jargon and acronyms (relating to backing up Naver Line) but it is starting to take its toll lol.. This is like learning a whole new language.
I followed some of what you have said but there are areas I could not work out no matter how hard I tried.
I.E. SETTINGS (system apps). There are many places where the words settings are inside the OS I found. In the OS itself, inside Naver Line etc... I have no idea where to find it.
"Manage Android ID". What is that and how is it done exactly?
So, if you or anyone else for that matter could please write a (Literally) step by step guide that would be just awesome. Because I have failed many attempts thus far and yet I will keep on trying. I can't see that light at the end of the tunnel just yet.
NB: I will add though, after weeks of trying I finally succeeded in installing a ROM on one of my androids. That was just HELL!! I'm not giving in though! :good:
From an old bloke, cheers for the understanding...
This process requires ROOT and Titanium Backup:
1. Select "Backup All System Data"
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
2. Select "SETTINGS" Storage is the only one I think you need, but back up both anyways (as pictured)
**The above steps will backup your Android Device ID, which LINE requires to be identical to the restored data ID**
**After you have backed up LINE and SETTINGS and done whatever it was that required you to move your LINE app**
1. Select "Restore All Apps With Data" and check LINE (app+data)
2. Navigate to Titanium Backup's main menu, scroll down to "Manage Android ID ..." which should bring up a window with an option "Restore Android ID from a backup" which when clicked should show one backup... click that, it will prompt you to restart, restart... done.
I'm not the best instructions guy, but let me know if that helps clear up the process.
backup issue
Hey TASL,
A big thanks for the effort you put in there.
I am going to give it a go again and I'll post my experience with it.:fingers-crossed:
Through my previous attempts with this (using two other site/posts to help or confuse) I had ended up downloading SQlite manager, Titanium, Bluetooth File Transfer, Easy Backup, FX explorer and FX explorer root add-on. You can see I was going down the rabbit hole there..
Back. I've been out for a few hours training. Been back for 30 minutes. Started on backing up of Line and camera. The new phones was in a 'Building app data size....or something or rather for around 5 minutes. Then changed to a screen report showing 'Overview of app storage use ' window.
Obviously I am not sure if this is supposed to happen.
Then I tried to 'Manage Android Id'.......No can do. I need the 'Donate version' of Titanium it says. Hmm..I couldn't find the donate version so I suppose I would have to pay the $7.50 for the PRO version to get this to work.
I'll get back when i've come to a solution.
Ok. I finally succeeded in backing it up onto the new phone. The only issue here is that When opening Line I need to enter the password 'twice'. Also a message appears courtesy of Line, telling me that I have accessed this account on another device therefore and that all the information will be deleted.
At this point I just tap back instead of tapping on the 'OK' button.
This probably came about because I had installed Line onto my new device and opened it before using this backup guide. As the above message is what I saw when I had done that. This is a bit of an issue as I will need to step carefully least I accidentally hit the 'OK' button and then having line remove all of the chat.
Bummer.
What a huge oversight by Naver Line in not incorporating a chat transfer option. Seems like an awfully stupid 'think tank' idea from the suits in the oval office. Perhaps they know something I don't.
Again thanks for the guide TASL. This will definately help in future and next time I'll get it right on the first go. Cheers
Just an update to my user experience.
I have removed the Line app and re-installed from the market.
Not only was it tedious to tread carefully around the 'OK' confirmation button from line I couldn't send text messages either.
So I have failed in getting this too work.
The household is getting a new (but second hand) SG3 very soon so I will try the method on that device before activating line on it.

Same question, sort of the same answer.
For the Eris, "system.img", and "boot.img" files in the Nandroid backup contain no personal information, nor anything which is "customized" to a particular handset; they are generic.
So, yes, you can restore a Nandroid backup from one phone to another. You only need to copy the BDS-YYMMDD-HHMM backup folder from the source phone into the correctly named folder on the target phone. (The easiest way to create that folder on the target phone is to do a dummy Nandroid backup on that phone, and Nandroid will create it for you).
The person that makes the Nandroid backup for you should do it this way:
- reboot into Amon_RA
- make a Nandroid Backup (let's call this one "#1")
- wipe data/factory reset
- make a 2nd Nandroid Backup (let's call this one "#2").
- perform a Nandroid Restore of backup #1
- boot up the phone and copy the backup #2 to the target phone (and delete it from the source phone)
That way, all the personal info, market apps, are wiped from the #2 backup, and it can be freely handed out to someone else without worry.
l3nytm : Unfortunately, Nandroid restore works by "mounting" the /system and /data yaffs2 filesystem(s). There are certain pathologies that can occur where mounting fails and the "nandroid-mobile.sh" script bombs out - in which case, no Nandroid restore will help you, no matter what they contain.
I had it happen to me a long time ago, and I could not even manually mount them using adb - the only thing which saved my butt from a "live brick" was re-application of the Root PB00IMG.zip file. No guarantees that that will work for your phone - and you might have to perform the jcase "Flash any RUU" procedure before you try the HBOOT + PB00IMG.zip flashing procedure.
Lastly, this question isn't a development question; but oh well.

Look for "Dialer One" in the Android Market. It's the closest you can find that has T9 capable dialing aka smart dial. You can also press Menu > Contacts to get to your contacts.

Don't like dialer one. Ive tried it. I want the tabs across the top like the Froyo dialer shown above with T9 capability.
I hope this is a development question. I am trying to make a theme for 2.1 roms does anyone know how I can change the font for the clock in the status bar. Ideally a way to do it via MetaMorph
need sum 1 to make androd 1 rom!

While figuring out what was causing my widgets to reload every time I hit the back button from an app, I got to thinking about cache. I have CacheCleaner installed and it works great at freeing up space. I also noticed that when I clean the cache, the phone seems a bit more responsive. So here's the question, and feel free to correct me or whatever you feel, but can something be developed like AutoKiller, but that focuses on Cache? Say, it clears the cache when it reaches a certain level like 10mb per say, or whatever you choose. Again, any and all ideas are appreciated.
Thanks everyone for everything that we have here at XDA

well yes you could either install the .apk like the normal way or just install it via and update.zip to /system/app didnt check link so im not sure.
Guess my question wasn't clear.
There's a new update to the Market for Androids running versions prior to 2.2. It makes the market on those devices resemble the 2.2 market, i.e., tabbed app pages (comments on separate tab), and more importantly, the auto-update feature..
Considering that a lot of us dislike the inherent instability of Froyo, I like the idea of getting this update.. unfortunately, I haven't seen any evidence that my phone is getting it.. (running the Droid Does ROM, even though it hasn't been updated since July)..
Has anyone looked into this market update, and whether or not it could be applied to any of the ROMs for the Eris? (obviously prior to Froyo)

I have discovered that you can get great games directly from Gameloft and they fit the screen perfectly. I managed to get "Samsung Apps" to work properly for my local area (yeah, it's location/product -specific). Because I flashed unofficial firmware early-on in my ownership of the Galaxy Tab, I quickly "lost" the default Product Code for the UK, which is CPW. Instead, I had multi-CSC installed (which offers CPW) but initialized with KOR, the wrong country code ! (for both the 3e Recovery mode and the normal boot)
Fortunately, "SGS Toolbox" revealed that an automatic backup of the original product code was available in /efs/, so I wouldn't have to perform a full IMEI initialization (*#272*....#). All I had to do was to make a backup of the /efs/ folder to my external SD CARD (better safe than sorry !), as well as a full Titanium Backup (yeah, I'm paranoid ), followed by deleting nv_data.bin (and its .md5 peer), and renaming .nv_data.bak (and its .md5 peer) to nv_data.bin. I also edited the contents of /efs/imei/mps_code.dat to replace KOR with CPW. Easy. Reboot, check "Samsung Apps", and there is a few more apps in the list ! (not many though, like less than 10)
Cheers, Dan
How did you know there was a backup using SGS Tools? I seem to missing this information.

Sweet thanks, for some reason I downloaded sgs tools instead of toolbox :/
Great success, thanks daniel.weck. Quick question though: Now that I have a backup of my own, I remembered that I only had like one samsungapp. Since you mentioned that you had around 10 and some other had around 14, I'm kinda liking that and wondering if I can just use your or someone elses nv_data file instead? Would you tell if there would be any issues with that?
CPW
I just switched from EUR(Which I switched from KOR using the IMEI/Reset method), this time using the renaming/editing method and rebooted. My product code is now CPW according to SGSToolbox but the store now just shows the single app (radio companion).
It showed 2 apps on "EUR" (+= blinkxbeat)
Anyone got suggestions on the cause and solution?
P.S. I assume CPW == Carphone Warehouse? My tab actually came from PCWorld. Shame i didn't backup the original ROM before flashing, It had Nova and showed several apps and a couple extra things that i can't seem to find anymore.

I think the nv_data is IMEI-dependent.
I still don't understand what's going on. My Tab that's on JJ7 abduction set to CPW doesn't show anything, the other is untouched on JJ3, also CPW but it world fine? Does the build.prop also play a part?

I tried doing this the full way and it seems CPW doesn't exist in the list, I think this is the problem, and the reason the manual method does not work.
we will need to find the right files for CPW I think.

Hi *,
as daniel.weck I also lost my product code after flashing the JM6 ROM. I followed the instructions to revert back to my original product code (DBT for Germany) but I still only see "blinkx" as app in the Samsung Store.
With the stock ROM, there was NFS:Shift, Asphalt 5 and a couple more apps.
Any ideas what to do next to get all apps back in the store? I already cleared the cache and data of Samsung Apps but it didn't help
Edit: just ignore me people. I did the factory reset using *#272*IMEI# so I could select DBT and now it's working fine
I had broken the screen on the Nexus 4 and after a daylong nightmare of pursuading LG and Google that my phone should be repaired in my native USA rather than Australia (the phone I got from Google had a model number for the international market rather than the US market), they finally let me send it in to a US facility to get it repaired. I now received the phone back with the screen repaired (took exactly 14 days and $140).
But when I start the phone it goes into a strange debug screen. After pressing the power button for a some time I get to another, more standard looking screen. But the buttons on the bottom are completely missing (no home, return, or widgets buttons). From there I can only access the settings widget in the top right corner of the screen. When I go into settings I get the following info:
Model Number: Full Jellybean on Mako
Android version: 4.2
Build number:
full_mako-userdebug 4.2 LGEP19
eng.seungju24.choi.20121114.105751 test-keys
Also lots of debug apps seem to be installed, although I have not managed to get to the main screen to actually execute anything.
It seems that LG has replaced the standard OS with another (maybe debug or testing) build that does not work properly on the final consumer
product.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I am concerned that if I try to deal with LG I will be without a phone for another 2 weeks, and based on the
experiences so far I am not convinced that I will not have any further problems.
Thanks!
RWTX
I would suggest you download the factory android 4.2.1 image and flash that. That way you'll have your android os setup like brand new.
1. The firmware(s) can be found on this page :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1745781
2. Instructions on how to flash stuff to and on your phone can be found anywhere, but I prefer to use this for it's simplicity and step by step instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766475
On the screenshot posted by the OP, you can also see the option to flash stock. It's pretty easy to do if you follow the instructions. Also make sure you follow the driver installation procedure in the program.

Thanks!

Dude upload this to the web before you flash back to factory. This is gold to the devs...
Edit: Lol I see u all already told him this as I read the rest of the thread. U are right kcls this is the ICS boot animation.
Using Tapatalk 2
Plz upload this we would all love to see what this is
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Someone please tell him how to do it?
I fail to see how this is "gold"? Yes it is the ICS boot animation, and possibly a different baseband, but what exactly would this achieve? We already have the easiest phone to bootloader unlock and root, what good does this do? I can see if maybe this was an HTC phone that was S-Off with an ENG hboot it would be valuable for S-Off.. but it's not..
It's a debug rom, it may contain useful debug tools from LG that arnt available in release roms.
That and some of us just like collecting "official" roms, please upload if you can OP
Worse come to worse, I'm sure there is a developer here that would pay shipping both ways, of you could hold out a week
I am curious if the phone is " Rooted" ( of course it is if it's a developer ROM) bit I would like to know what the boot loader lists.

Someone get this man the tools to get the images of this off his phone ASAP!!
Do you have windows or OSX?

Not sure if anyone knows if there's a new version of ADBRecovery or if this would still work for him. Download the Android SDK (http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html and USB Drivers if you're in windows), then do this:
Make a nandroid backup:
1. download ADB Recovery -> ADBrecovery v6-1.zip
2. copy the content of the ZIP to your SDCARD (there should be a "recovery" folder and an "update.zip" file, you need to copy both to the root of your SDCARD)
3. download the Android SDK -> Android SDK | Android Developers
4. extract the Android SDK to a folder of your choice
5. on your phone go to "Settings -> Applications -> Development" and select "USB debugging"
6. turn off your phone and start it by holding the camera and power button (a /!\ sign should appear - if it doesn't you're doing it wrong or you have the newest bootloader and should power up the phone using the "X" key on your physical keyboard together with the power button)
7. after you get the /!\ sign press the volume up and camera button
8. from the menu select "apply update.zip" (you can move around using the d-pad and confirm your selection with the d-pad)
9. after the update.zip loads you should be at a similar screen with a bit of extra info on it
10. connect your phone to your PC using the USB cable
11. open the console on your computer (Start -> Run -> cmd)
12. navigate to where you extracted your Android SDK and then navigate to the "tools" directory inside the Android SDK dir
13. write the following commands
Code:
adb shell
nandroid-mobile.sh --backup
It should then ask you for a name for your backup. You can leave it blank or write something of your choice
14. after the backup is done, you can "exit" the adb shell and restart your phone
NOTE: If you need to restore your nandroid backup, just replace the "backup" from step 13 with "restore" and select the name of your backup.

Getting the baseband/radio:
Just a quick guide for those who want to extract/pull radio img file from their Nexus Phone.
So, basically, here is what you need to do.
1, conncet via adb
2, Type "su" without the "", just SU, 2 letters.
3, Allow superuser with it.
4, Type "dd if=/dev/mtd/mtd5 of=/sdcard/radio.img" without the "", just those letters in the "..."
5, It should take a few second to copy the file to your sdcard and it will mention that it is successful.
6, When it mention succesfully copied, go to your sdcard with USB MOUNT to your computer.
7, You will find a file name "radio.img"

DO NOT TRY TO USE THIS TO FLASH CUSTOM ROMS/RECOVERIES/KERNELS. THIS IS ONLY TO INSTALL TWEAKS THAT COME IN THE FORMAT OF A FLASHABLE .ZIP! READ THIS AND THE DEVELOPER'S THREAD BEFORE YOU PROCEED WITH THIS! I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR BRICKS!
I thought all S4 active users should be aware of this -- you CAN flash CWM/TWRP .zip files WITHOUT a custom recovery. Albeit the app is a proof-of-concept/beta. It still does work and people with locked-down xperia phones use it to flash .zips
If you're on a regular S4 you'd be better off using CWM or TWRP so stop reading this.
You also cannot flash custom ROMs with this. Certain system files are critical to maintaining stability and if they are overwritten while the device is powered on it'll crash and you'll have a bricked franken-ROM phone. Don't try to flash kernels or recoveries with this either. You're just asking for trouble.
By clicking "Show" below you agree that I'm not responsible for your phone exploding or bricking when you do this. You could easily end up in a boot-loop and have to restore with odin. As a matter of fact, even if you do everything correctly you could still end up with a bricked phone. It won't be my fault. There is no way to do nandroids as of now so you will have to restore to out-of-box state with odin and start from square one.
From your phone:
1) Visit the developer's thread here
2) Read his thread and make sure you understand any warnings/consequences of using his tool.
3) Scroll to the bottom of the page, download and install the APK

4) Download your favorite flashable mod .zips. There's some links at the bottom of the OP.
5) Click "Select zip.." and then use your favorite file explorer to navigate to the location of your .zipped mod/tweak/whatever
6) Flash Gordon will request superuser, choose "accept"
7) Double check that you selected the correct .zip and have the correct options
8) Click "Flash Now!". Don't worry if your phone hangs, give it a few minutes to do its thing. Mine lagged very bad as I flashed acid audio mod. Do not hit the home button or do anything to cause the app to exit.
9) Once flash gordon is done a notification will appear telling you to reboot - Click that notification and your device will reboot. If the app hangs at "Installing" give it a good 10 minutes and if it's still "Installing" just manual reboot. If your mod requires you to wipe the cache partition I reccomend booting to the stock 3e recovery by holding vol up + power + home and wiping it that way so you don't experience FC's from clearing cache while device is running.
10) Once device is powered on it should take you through that "Android upgrading" message and then you can enjoy your mod!
11) Optional: Throw money at/thank "Androguide.fr" for his awesome app.
Confirmed working:
Acid Audio Mod - Use the one here - V7 will bootloop you or cause a glitch where your device is "Upgrading applications" every boot
Going to try more later -- post a picture of your favorite mod/tweak running and I'll add it to this OP!
Thank you for posting this. I am sure it will help many Active users, but I wonder how long it will be before people ignore your warnings and try to flash a kernel or ROM or custom recovery with this?
Please people READ and READ some more so you don't mess up your phones. I don't know if it will do any good but maybe putting that part at the top in Red letters might help.
Again. thanks.

Make sure you use the 'Pre-MEA_AOSP_MMS_CPA-Poke-v2.zip'. Reboot phone and go to system/app with root explorer and rename KeyguardWidget.apk to KeyguardWidget.apk.bak. Done.
Everything, including both sms/mms works perfectly. You can even theme the conversation list and messages with custom background and different test color. I included screenshot to show you what I meant. =)

Screen turns off during call, won't turn back on
This is the first rom I've installed in a while and this is also the first rom installed after rooting.
I am using the SPH-L720 on NG2
After flashed this rom and the sprint framework, whenever I make a call the screen shuts off, like it's supposed to.
My problem is that the screen won't turn back on.
Power button, home button, tapping the screen, nothing seems to work.
Am I the only one with this issue?
Is there a fix out there for this or should I just try and reflash?
Great rom. Stable and have found no bugs since the release. Is there a way to infinite scroll the homescreen and apps panel? And also.. I saw some mention about build.prop edits for the model but didnt see a difinitive answer. Is there a way to change it to sph-l720? It doesnt make anything not work but it takes the rom from perfect to almost perfect lol. Anyway thanks dev!
I'm also getting the no sim card error, on top of that I am unable to connect to LTE. I have flashed this rom three times with full wipes in between. installed the sprint framework. I have LTE on other ROMS. Is anyone else having this issue?
It rocks
Best rom i've tried in a while. Battery lasts about 2 days for me, great performance, no glitches found so far.
Little question, under Developer options, I can't seem to find the advanced reboot options menu. I know there is one under interface > Reboot options, but that one reboots right away and I want it on the menu while clicking the power buttom.
Thank you developers for this awesome rom.
Battery Life
Can someone post screenshots of this ROM's battery life? I have an SPH-L720, and I am trying to decide if I should wait for the TouchWiz 5.0 Samsung Update.
GSM on Samsung Sprint S4
I like to try this ROM, I'm not using CDMA with this phone,, will the GSM works well with this ROM? Thank You,,

Pretty much everything working fine here. I love the ROM. My only issues are the following:
I had to turn on LTE in the settings and reboot the phone before it would connect to LTE, but it does fine now.
I'm also getting the NO SIM CARD on lock screen issue as someone else reported, but LTE wouldn't work at all if it really had no SIM card.
The other more major issue I have is that I can't mount folders to the storage/emulated/0/Android/obb folder. A lot of games keep huge files in that folder, so I like to keep those files on my SD card and link them to that folder. I couldn't use FolderMount or create symbolic links just to that obb folder, while other folders link just fine. I tried a lot of different things, but nothing lets me link/mount properly inside this ROM's obb folder. Reading through the FolderMount support thread, I found this: h**p://www.devasque.com/foldermount/kk-support.html They said to have my kernel dev (or ROM cooker) look there, and I believe that is now you
Thanks for putting this all together! Still a great DD even without mounting to the obb folder.

How to Return to Stock?
I want to try this on my SPH-L720 Samsung Galaxy S4 Sprint phone currently running 4.4.2 Stock TouchWiz Firmware. Can someone point me in the right direction how to get back to Stock after flashing a custom ROM like this? I want to be able to return to my phone's former state, meaning I can get OTA updates when Samsung releases 5.0, no root permissions, and no triangle upon booting. I've done ROM flashing on the S2, but I've read many comments with others having problems going back on the S4. I think those problems are with the AT&T and T-Mobile models, yet I am new to this and want to play it safe. Here's what I've found: qbking77. com/development/how-to-unroot-and-unbrick-the-samsung-galaxy-s4/ Thanks!

I followed the instructions exactly, and I do have Sprint network access, so this may just be a minor thing, but my model number is showing as GT-I9505G instead of the SPH-L720. Is there a way to fix this? I tried using the suggested XML file and putting it in the data folder and rebooting but no dice there, either.

Edit build prop. The eri.xml file was just for framework.
