Hi Dev's,
I would like to know if there is or will be a way to implement google voice search instead of s voice without having s voice installed on the device and without loosing touchwiz(I have tried the version in wanam xposed which still requires s voice).
Thanks in advance for the answers and :good: for the xda forum which has helped me a lot in the last years
Any answers?

You can freeze the s-voice app with titanium backup. I used to use home2 launcher (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eikatou0.appspot.home2shortcut) but it doesn't like kit kat. I use
(https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.goodmooddroid.gesturecontroldemo) to support a custom 3 finger swipe up to open voice search.

that will not work..... I have to voice seach in google nav. and my seach bar does not have it as well.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=667387
Not available in Canada currently because it only supports English.
found how to get it.. just do a seach on google for "com.google.android.voicesearch.apk" and download and install and it works.. copy it to your SD card to install it.
nevermind it just crashes out. worked on my x10 tho
here this version works
hmm... if you are talking about the Bell version it comes in the stock ROM
it's labelled as "Voice Dialler"
but it is not only voice dialing, when you speak to it, it comes back with search results for both software and contacts, if you execute either one, it launches the app, or it dials the contact

Earlier today I change the sell code to english and ta-daaa: voice search appeared. I'm actually looking for a way to get rid of it right now
You lose all your data though. So if you're gonna try it, go ahead and back up. I use Titanium back up (I don't love it, though: you have to stay by the phone waiting to give the green like* everytime an app is being re-installed).
EDIT: *light
sell code?...
Hmmm, maybe that's not its name. Anyway: *#272*HHMM# change HHMM for your local time, so if it's 12:30 it should look like: *#272*1230#.
Once there, check the codes http: //samsung-firmware . webs . com / samsunglettercode . htm (remove blanks) and apply the english one.
i get only this page when i google sell code samsung... so i'm not sure if such a thing exist.
anyway the 272 trick doesn't work on my i9000.

Thanks,
Market didn't have "google commands" but it had "voice commands". Voice commands was listed as free but when i clicked on the link it said "not found"
I tried both appbrain and android market.
Anyone have the apk for voice command or google command?
I'm not exactly sure why voice input was removed, probably a combination of the fact that it doesn't support french and also that Samsung stripped out the default android keyboard (which has the microphone button) and replaced it with 2 far superior keyboards: their own, and swype. I guess that's the one downside of swype is you don't get the voice input button.
However Samsung did include Vlingo for free (I'm aware that Vlingo has since become free for all phones since the updated google voice commands were announced for froyo). Vlingo is actually far better than the google voice input (at least for 1.5-2.1) as it gives you commands as well as the text entry. You can also setup the Vlingo keyboard which is essentially the stock Android 2.1 keyboard including the mic button.
From what I can tell it detects words just as well as the google service. Vlingo lets you put widgets of any size (1x1 to full screen) so this kinda makes up for the missing mic button on the google search widget.
I would imagine when the 2.2 update comes out we will have the google function back with multi language support and commands!
well Nirvana388 beat me to it, i was going to recommend Vlingo as well

Thanks, but Vlingo requires internet right? My old phones had voice recognition without the requirement of internet.
Ravi84m suggested "google commands" because it doesn't require internet??
Having a problem last two days with vzw home page overriding browser/google settings and then forcing searches through Bing. Search starts in google to about 50% then loads the vzw page breifly before ending in Bing. I am on a debinged device and it wasnt a problem for the week before on the same rom.
Is it possible a market app swapped something and where might I look to find it ? No matter what I reset in the browser seetings or clear, the behavior returns.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
A search on debinged browser will help you find answers. If you are rooted you will have more options. But there are things you can do to minimize the influence if bing searches without being root.
One solution that I used was to replace browser.apk with the one from the Samsung Mesmerize which is the Canadian version of the Fascinate which doesn't use Bing
There is another file that will give you google search on a short press of the search key. But not google voice search with a long press. To get Google Voice Search you can install Vlingo (a nice voice recognition application with lots of features)
Another option is to use a different browser like Dolphin (I like Dolphin Mini) and set your home page to Google.
For a google search widget you can install LauncherPro.
Lots of ways to go. Searching will help you find details.
Thanks for the reply, but maybe I wasnt clear. I am fully rooted, running an eb01DB_DXC.tar with eb01 lockscreen mods, some swapped touchwiz and buddies .apks and other minor mods. Google voice search is disabled and everything is set properly settings wise.
The search function worked properly for a week, but something has changed to create this new behavior. I already tried Skyfire as well.
I understand the need to search and I do quite a bit. I just cant find a reason why behavior would change when there is no apparent reason to based on the device config.
I've been running the Fresh Evo 4.0 Beta for a few weeks. I like it. But I've found the Google Voice Search does not work. The application opens but does not pick up any audio. It's not possible to uninstall and reinstall since it's part of the actual rom.
Any ideas how to resolve/fix? Anyone else encountered the same issue?
tgusnik
Google Voice Search is in the market, you should be able to uninstall and reinstall it from the there.
Also, I learned a couple months ago that removing the stock browser breaks voice search, fyi

Never an issue here.
The Sprint Gingerbread Beta & ROMs based off of it, have the voice features borked.
Hello everyone,
I downloaded and installed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1272440 (Android 2.3.5 Sense 3.0 NAND) this rom on my HD2 but I can not using voice search. I searched a lot but nothing find. When I go market voice search for download it says your device doesn't supporting this object, I found apk file somewhere and installed it but it runs so slow and doesn't recognise my voice.
If I speak slowly it returns something "you wanted to say .... " but when I speak normally it says "I didn't hear your voice"
I tried clearing voice search app cache and disable personalised voice search and remove my voice records on my google account but it is still not working .
Thanks for help.
Urm, not sure, maybe it's the 3.0 build that doesn't work well with Voice.
Or maybe your mic sensitivity is too low (yes some builds have that)
But seriously I don't know much about 3.0 bro.. perhaps you should move on to another ROM if it's really bugging you
thanks for reply. But sometimes I need it. I guess I am going to change my rom
I am on a Galaxy S8 and Android 7.0.
Following this guidance, http://lifehacker.com/how-to-create-custom-voice-commands-with-tasker-and-aut-1282209195, I installed Tasker and AutoVoice. Google app already installed. I enabled Autovoice accessibility service and AutoVoice Google Now integration.
OK Google is enabled on all screens.
However, when I say "OK Google, use Autovoice" Google consistantly comes back with "It looks like your AutoVoice account is not linked yet." How do I do this?
When I run AutoVoice Testing with my trigger words, they work. I have another 6.0 Android device where all this (Tasker, Autovoice, Google Now) works seamlessly.
Is there some other step required for S8 / Android 7.0 go get AutoVoice integrated with Google Now?

There is a difference between using the Google now voice search and using Google assistant. The running service is for Google now. The screenshot you posted is of Google assistant, in which you have to be apart of the Google + community for the app in order for it to work.
If you're just looking for basic usage, use Google now voicesearch and not Google assistant

Thank you very much! This is the first clue I've been handed to the source of my problem. You are right. On my px5 head unit, there are no settings for Google Assistant. On my S8, there are. However, I don't know why they are there, or how to disable Google Assistant without disabling OK Google. When I disable GA and speak "OK Google", it immediately asks me to turn GA back on to respond. Do you know how I can resolve this? Again, thanks!

Never mind. I found it: https://android.gadgethacks.com/how...ndroid-device-switch-back-google-now-0174676/
Problem is, don't have root on Galaxy S8. Google REALLY needs to give us the option for something like this instead of forcing it down our throats whether we like it or not!!!

You should be able to do it with a shortcut. I use Nova launcher and just use the voice search shortcut and it uses Google now. Or if you have a Google search bar on your screen with the mic in it, that should default to Google voice search and not assistant

No problem man. I use tasker, autovoice, and autoremote religiously haha. Too much home automation and laziness not to utilize them. You should look into the natural language it can now use. Takes a while to understand and set up, but after that, it's much better than regular recognize

I'm having fun, and pulling my hair out, just trying to get this going right now. At least twice this week I was in my car (head unit not installed yet) and really wanted to send time sensitive messages on my s8 using Google Voice. I don't text and drive, religiously. But being able to say "google voice text so-and-so" would have been quite useful.
One last, final question: I've been learning tasker/autovoice on a rooted px5. Just got this galaxy s8 and, of course, it's not rooted. Looks like I shell commands a lot in my profiles, particularly "input keyword" and "input text".
So, if I want to send %avcommnofilter as response to app, do you recommend autoinput for that?

FINALLY! This is how you link AutoVoice (or any 3rd party app) to Google Assistant: https://productforums.google.com/d/msg/websearch/HwJUpkrHPr4/xIJACIlEAwAJ
So, you have to say "OK, Google, ask Autovoice to...." followed by your AutoVoice command. Still wish I could just say "OK, Google" then command, but this will do for now.
