Only Getting 'H' Signal Following Update - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I updated to D80220D yesterday through the LG support tool, but i've noticed that im not seeing 'H+' displayed any more even in locations where I usually do see it.
Im on Three and the correct APN setting are in and ive got the network selection set to GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto.
Any ideas?

Ok, so i've done some further investigating and after looking at the hidden menu *#*#4636#*#* i can see my signal cycling between HSPA and HSPAP which I assume is H and H+ respectively. But when it says HSPAP my icon stays on H and doesn't show H+....so now im even more confused. Its like im getting that signal but it is not displaying to me graphically.

On stock 4.4.2 rom on nexus 4 H+ is also showed as H

I have a D80220A Hong Kong international version and it doesn't show H+ never. In settings, it shows HSPAP sometimes... I think it is only a Rom issue, but the phone is working in H+ because of HSPAP

D80220A Croatia version, phone from Thailand. It does show H+ for me.

In PANAMA BUILD D80220C
In Panama with build D80220c does not show H+ but in settings and in the hidden menu shows HSPA HSPAP alternativily.

[Q] s4 GT-I9505 missing DC-HSDPA/LTE

Hello guys,So im with three.uk they dont do LTE yet but they r about to roll it out very soon however they do DC-HSDPA and im in area where i should be getting it sadly im not getting it for some reason top of the screen shows only H+(mostly) sometimes H and 3G. If i go to connections->More Networks-> Mobile Networks -> Network mode i only get WCDMA/GSM(auto connect) or WCDMA only so this is what i get. I was reading that there is some problem with s4's shipped from korea and people advice to flash to unbranded stock well one was australian so i even flashed to australian firmware even to getman firmware so far no luck no lte in options not detecting DC-HSDPA just after flashing to getman/australian firmware i got an extra option in network mode and it is gsm only plus the other two i said before. So my question is how i could get this DC-HSDPA working and what indicator top of the screen will show instead of h+ will it show DC ? i was trying to find answers but no luck so far please help me outKind rengards Martin

Hi,
H+ will still display on your signal strength indicator, as DC-HSDPA is just a variant of the HSPA network system. to force the internet to always connect to a higher speed network set it to WCDMA Only.
There is no DC-HSDPA or HSDPA in the network selection, it is tied to the WCDMA system.

Root Explorer (or another), and go to data/property.
select persist.radio.lteon , edit it with a text editor and change the value from false to true.
Save changes, reboot and enjoy
bye to all.

This isn't about 4G? It's about DC-HSDPA.

[Q] Odd LTE Signal Swap Issues

I seem to be having the strangest LTE / 4G signal issues with the S4. I get 4G fine but when i leave a 4G area it drops to H+ or if the signal on 4G is weak it drops to H / H+ during this transition i am left without any signal for seconds to minutes as it switches.
Is there any way to find out what my LTE modem version is as i know my GSM one?
I am not too sure if this switch is normal to be lost without signal as GSM > H > H+ works fine and i still have signal

how do i do this? i can only see GSM modem not LTE. i know both versions maybe different
Mate the baseband of your phone is the same for both the gsm and lte configurations of your phone. If that won't work you can still check your carriers vpn configurations to see if there are correct

i just searched forums :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2525084
respider posted this:
**If you are having the old bootloader XXUB flash GSM_Modem_XXUEMJ5_and_LTE_Modem_XXUBMH1.tar file with odin by selecting phone.
**If you are having the new bootloader XXUD flash GSM_Modem_XXUEMJ5_and_LTE_Modem_XXUEMJ5.tar file with odin by selecting phone.
So this means that even if it says the LTE modem is different to the GSM modem you are saying that the help about the modem for GSM and LTE is in fact the same?

From my knowledge you cant flash anything you like. You need to flash the correct modem for your region.Whats the version of your bootloader and your country so i can link you the correct file
I am experiencing the same thing, the switch from H+ to 4G doesn't drop the actual signal from the network whereas from 4G to H+ the signal drops leaving me no service at all for a few seconds.
I am starting to think that this is the normal behavior because it's like this since I got the S4. Oh and I have the latest modem for my country as well if that helps.
Perhaps someone with knowledge on how the modem works can chime in?

Thanks chickentuna for your reply
Ok the 4G works perfectly fine in Hong Kong, London but as soon as i leave london and go to areas with 4G but low signal, i get the horrible loss of network until the phone does a search. I think its more network / phone related but would just need to learn to disable 4G out of the main cities.
asbanoglou thanks for trying you can flash any modem but whether or not it will work is another matter. I understand bootloader, different modems and csc i am looking for something a little more non generic. I first assumed this was the firmware / modem combo but after trying multiple ones this does not seem to be the case unless there is a long standing issue with the S4 and LTE.
As a future note to get the modem versions you dial *#1234# . More > About does not give you the full picture but thanks for those who tried to help

What is best setting for "Preferred Network type"

Under mobile networks.
I have ATT in New York area so I get a good bit of LTE.
I never once had looked at this before, but since i was having some signal drop i just checked on it and noticed that my preferred selection would change without me doing anything. I flashed a new radio and seem to have resolved the drop issue, but now I don't know which setting I should be using.
Right now I have it set to GSM/WCDMA AUTO, but I am only showing an H for signal so I am not sure if this setting restricts LTE

[Q] Remove Roaming R to show Network indicator in foreign countries

Hi guys,
I'm on Mahdi AOSP Rom with my LG G2 D802. This might be a question for all AOSP roms. When I'm not in my home country, there is always a R shown above the signal bars. Because I have a Roaming Flatrate for all nations in the European Union, i use the mobile network while roaming.
Is there a possibility to remove the R from the signal bar? Because at that position normally the network indicator (e.g. G, E, 3G, H, H+, LTE) is placed. But because of the R being in this position, i have to go into the status menu in settings to check the network, that sucks. Has someone of you guys found a solution for this problem.

Nexus 6P showing H only instead of H+

Hi my network supports H+ and other phones show that fine but 6P is shows H only. please tell me how to fix that
Mine only show H on a H+ network. Heck I don't even see when my phone is using LTE+. But my speeds are there.
In the end, I don't really matter what it shows..
