I just realized my g pad doesnt have a android spell check the same as my nexus has. The keyboard im using has a nasty autocorrect that ive disabled, when typing ive no idea if im spelling words right. On my nexus words are underlined red regardless of which keyboard i use. How do i get this on my tablet?

Just install the Google keyboard from the Play Store. It's the same one that's on a Nexus (by default). Here's a link:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.inputmethod.latin
That just installs the keyboard, i still dont have any form of spell check with it.

Ah, I see. The version that comes pre-installed on Nexus ROMs (but evidently not GPE ROMs?) has spell checking as a keyboard feature, but the version from the Play Store doesn't. However, after a little Googling I'm finding this feature under Settings>Language and Input>Spell checker where I've selected Google Spell Checker. I don't know if that enables it for any keyboard or just the Google Keyboard, but it seems to work for me. I see misspelled words underlined clearly.
I should have had the phone next to me to compare!
I have spell check in settongs but its and empty menu where as on my nexus I can select google spell checker. So where do o get this google spell checker for my g pad?

Not sure. It was just there for me (I'm on a GPE, by the way). Have you tried installing the Google Keyboard from the Play Store already? Maybe it's included as part of that distribution.
Looks liike i needed a reboot to get any options for the google spell check but its not correcting, as can be seen in some wordss.

Bummer. Yeah, I'm not sure then. For what it's worth, I actually use SwiftKey as the keyboard on all of my Android devices, and its word prediction is a very effective form of spell correction as well as making typing on a soft keyboard ridiculously efficient.
I never really to a liking to swiftkey on my phone but ive not really used it on my tablet. I use fleksy on my g pad, i like its layout but not the auto correct, it does have ok prediction if you tap the wrong word but i know there are some words i spell wrong and it wont correct. Maybe ill try swype on this and have a look at swift key.
I just noticed that the spell check does actually work, but not on here for some reason.

Not sure of this is helpful but I find smart keyboard pro (market) far superior to the stock keyboard although it still looks like stock.

the only reason i said stock is because of the voice input option, im not sure if the keyboards in the market have those but ill def check this one out thanks

I hope this gets figured out
You can turn swype off by changing the input mode. Just go into a spot where you can enter a message, do a long press, and then click on the input button. Its not the same keyboard as on the G2, but I prefer it to the swype keyboard.
I have the smart keyboard pro app and have it turned off. Mine makes me hit done then send when trying to send a message, and I'd rather not have the extra keystroke.
Sorry for not knowing: but is there a reason it doesn't work when you simply side-load the stock 2.2 keyboard? Appmonster shows that it installed, but I cannot load the keyboard at all.
Any ideas?
Is there any way to delete words from the swype dictionary because there are a bunch of typos swype makes with certain words for me like whenever I try to input the word you I get thou.

Type the mispelled word, highlight it and touch the swype symbol.
DK28 Swype is not that good DI18 isway better at predicting words without givimg you 4 word choices.

Sorry, just reread the post, I don't think that will work with legit words...
from what i have learned any words that are added you type the word such as (anf) should be and. then tap the swype key twice and it says to delete the word.

That only works if it's a word you yourself added to the swype dictionary. I have the same problem as the OP, in that there are a bunch of pre-programmed words that pop up a lot even though I never use them and I would like to get rid of them because they block the real word I want from coming straight through. I do not know any way to get rid of these, but maybe someone responding will.
Another option is to go into the swype settings and change the speed versus accuracy settings.

I have found that on the Froyo.zip my swype is less accurate then it was on the Eclair it came with. I am also rooted and have backup with titanium backup and clockwork, and also have no GPS aswell. SInce there seems to be no real froyo release out there ive stuck with it, but i get glitches all the time. I do love the features FROYO brings that i have just dealt with the glitches, temporarily. I may have to do a clean wipe and then reload
Has anyone pushed swype on to the Xformer ? or is there a zip that can be flashed ?

The swiping on the ASUS keyboard is absolute garbage compared to Swype. It might as well not even be there.
Trying to official beta doesn't work - get an error about unsupported screen size.
I haven't tried forcing the issue.

Too late for you now but the Amazon app store gave away flex9 keyboard which has swype functionality... in addition to voice dictation and handwriting.
swype feature is pretty good and works on the transformer.
I don't need a signature.
I have Swype and Dasur Slide it on mine and it is not a match made in heaven in the UK - as I have a conflict between the hardware keyboard and the software keyboard. It is very frustrating - as even though I have the software keyboards set to UK keyboards, this somehow alters the hardware keyboard to a US keyboard whne I re-dock. If anyone knows a way around this, I would be very grateful and the Asus trace keyboard is utter poo. I cannot use it. In fact I am not a big fan of Swype, I think Slide it is by far the best in its class.
I read a post here a few days ago showing how you could stop the dock keyboard being changed by the tab keyboard settings. Do search through the development forum. You need to move files around, etc.
I have Swype on mine but I don;t like it on the tab although it is great on my DesireHD. I use the Thumb keyboard which becomes natural very quickly.
EDIT
Here it is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14600447#post14600447
Have the newest beta on mine as well, works great! What I tend to do is make use of the resizable keyboard, make ik smaller, position it on the right.
This way I can hold the tablet with my left hand, and swype with the right, without moving too much across the screen.
The fail in combination with the hardware keyboard is a shame, there is a solution, but you do need root, which I haven't got around to yet.

Cheers pal, it's fathers day and I am finally having a day to play with my new toy, so far the launcher has been changed and now it looks like I will be rooted by the end of the day. Didn't think it would last long unrooted.

I don't understand. I have Swype set as my software keyboard and am using the dock to type this. While I do get the annoying warning about setting the Asus keyboard when I first get things going, I haven't noticed any odd functions, or loss of capability. Am I missing something?

I don't have any problems either.
I think I did change something with the settings when I previously installed thumb keyboard (the @ was coming up as " with the dock keyboard) but I haven't had to do anything with swype.
Edit....I've not got round to rooting yet so I'm completely stock and using the uk layout.

I use Swype on both my Android phones and love it. A perfect present for Fathers day was an email saying that Swype had released a new beta which included additional Honeycomb support!

So I was so tired of not being able to long-press the upper row of the keyboard to input numbers, so I remember reading somewhere that Google had updated the keyboard with this feature for tablets, to my surprise, Play Store didn't notice any update, so I tried installing it from the play store website like I do pretty much always, and I got the update pushed to my phone.
I attach the link to the playstore here, even if it says INSTALLED, click on it and you will get the option to install it on the devices linked to your account.

My keyboard gets the numbers on the top row now. Thanks!
Shame I paid for SwiftKey 1 week prior to get that feature.

Different strokes for different folks. I prefer SwiftKey's functionality, but there's something about "stock" that's always appealing for me.
Thanks for letting us know. I'm a bit confused why keep this update hidden and not notify the users like a normal app would do, That's weird !

Did that and it didn't work. Ah well, as I said no big matter as I am using Swype anyway.
Guys, I've installed the last version from play store.
I have a problem that it seems to exist only on my (actually my wife's) N7II. I don't have it on other "regular" android phones...
When I press a key, I don't get that blue pop-up with the key pressed, if u know what I mean...
Does anyone get the key pressed on the blue pop-up ?!?
I searched on settings, but I haven't found nothing related to this...
Is this a bug or does it work like this on tablets (or at least on N7) ? Can also be a 4.3 bug??
Best keyboard setup with google keyboard is advanced setting, custom input styles, english (us) (pc). Gives you a pc keyboard layout. Numbers on top and symbols like your familiar qwerty pc board. Keys get small on portrait but thats what swyping is for.

What do you mean, "blue pop-up"? Letters don't "pop up" on the stock Android keyboard unless you hold down the key to select, say, a number or symbol.

But on my Samsung S3, Desire HD, Huwaei X5 (and so on...) it shows the contrary ...when I touch (or hold down, it's indifferent) a key on those devices I get that blue popup
Oh, and now I went to the keyboard settings and there is an option for that: "Popup on Keypress"
If I disable it, it wont show that popup as natural.
On N7 I can't remember quite if it's there and if it's enabled or not... only at night when I came back home...
Maybe this is a phone feature, maybe it's a nexus bug, a 4.3 bug... who knows...

None of those other phones ship with the stock Android keyboard- the S3 in particular uses Samsung's keyboard app, the Desire HD uses HTC's, the X5 Huawei's own app, etc. This is the stock keyboard app that is on Nexus devices: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.inputmethod.latin&hl=en
Edit- I've had a check, on tablets it doesn't do the pop-up because the keyboard is big enough for you to see the letters. Swiftkey does, I think. Try Swiftkey!

But I think this is stupid... altought the kayboard is big enough I would love to see the letters popup... sometimes I just can't see it...
I have own a Droid bionic, droid maxx, Note 3 and now the S7 edge. Every one of them the mmajority of the time type crazy when I type on browsers. Notice the double "m" in mmajority? That is an exampl. (that "e" mmissingis aanother example.) (That entire sentence is an example!)
I am just typing and hitting the word predictions at the top and it will add double letters, it will add double spaces ssometimes and and none other times, whenI use a period, it removes thelast letter of thelast word. (I am leavingthe mmistakesin so youcan see what it is doin).
I use SwiftKey but it also is hhappeningon thestock bbrowse. I havewiped the app data but it hhasn't helped. It happens on all bbrowsers, but it ddoesn't happen in any other app like texting.
Doesaanyone know what is causingthis and how to fix it? Like I sai, tthis has happenedon eeveryaandroidI haveowned. Itmakes me want topunch ssomeonein theface! Why has aandroidhad this pproblemfor the last 5 years!?
You might try with another fully configurable soft keyboard, for example Smart Keyboard Pro.
If it wasn't so serious (to you) it would be funny
It actually reads very funny when you type. Apologies.
The way of typing isn't related to what browser you're using, it's probably SwiftKey. Try some other keyboard or the standard keyboard, see if that solves your problem
Both the stock keyboard and sSwiftKey do it, I really don'tlike theoothers I have tried but I wwill ccheck them. Like I said, it does nothhappenat all in apps or text mmessagin. I think it has something to do with my auto correct built into the phone. I use to turn it off but now I ccan'tfind it. I can oonly find thesspecific kkeyboard setting. I have typed this wwithstock sSamsungkkeyboard so as yyou cansee, I ddon'ttthinkit is swiftkey.

weird, i never had that issue
I wonder if you have this saved in your dictionary. Or turn off auto correct and auto spacing would prob solve your problem
I have this problem too and I use Google Keyboard. Its only when it corrects something or I input a suggestion and space. I've somehow learned and managed to deal with it.
So far using the Google keyboard it seems much better. It is just weird that I have had this problem with all 4 phones I have had over the years. And it has always only happened in the browser.
I've used swiftkey for a few years, and have none of those problems. If it has happened on all those phones, and multiple keyboards, I think it may have more to do with the way you're typing than the keyboard or phone you use.
