[Q] Hard brick! - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I wanted to flash the official Australian KK for D802T so that I could dump the modem and make it available to Cloudy for patching.
I made a flashable zip from the kdz. Flashed in philz without problems. At the end, I got a message saying 'could not lokify...' or something similar. Pressed 'OK' and then got the prompt to root. Foolishly, I selected that option and the phone simply died.
My laptop (with drivers and utilities for the G2) no longer recognises the phone when connected by USB. Cannot power on. No light. Nothing.
The G2 seems to be completely hard bricked but I'd like to understand how such an action could completely kill the phone. Any ideas of how this could happen?
Cheers!

PhilZ Killed My G2
Shameless bump.
The device is now with an authorised repairer, so I should (I hope) have a replacement soon but as this is a unique problem, I would have thought that there would be at least a couple of replies by now...
There are several threads by frantic XDA members about their 'bricked' phones when, in fact, they're not really bricked at all. Five minutes of Googling will result in a number of simple methods of recovery . To paraphrase that great Australian character, Mick 'Crocodile' Dundee: that's not a brick. THIS is a brick! :silly: *
Anyway, if you're thinking of making a flashable zip from a stock KDZ to be flashed with philz recovery, be very careful at the end when you're prompted to root. One slip and it's gone.

Cheers for the tip. You're not wrong about those 'brick' threads. If your drivers work your phone isn't bricked. Hopefully your repairer can tell you what happened so you can tell us!

Mate,
I rooted my G2 this afternoon and installed the autorac app. When I restarted my phone, it stuck at the beginning loop...
I can access to TWRP though, but download mode.
How much did you pay to get your phone restored? Can I bring it back and fix by LG??
Cheers

Autorec soft bricks Aussie phones. You've got a recovery though so you can just sideload a ROM through adb.

Cheers mate! I thought this D802T and D802 were same, maybe NOT?!
Where can I find this ROM for 802T? Will it destroy my documents like pix, chat record, etc?
Many many thanks!

Use LG Flash Tool to bring your phone back to stock. You will lose root and all SD card data if you chose this method.

[Q] Stuck on Downloading Screen...

Before I get jumped, YES, I did do countless readings to the point of going blind with information overload! Rooting phone was a confirmed success after the OTA update, and I did not do any bootloader roms, but now I can't get pass the download screen while booting up the phone. When I was trying to boot into recovery mode after I did a few quick restarts in a row after rooting phone, to install a debloater .zip, it came to this screen only (see screenshot), quickly (Samsung logo comes up before with the blue corner text) before this, and it's all that it does now. I think I might have pulled the battery a couple times when I saw the first image, my dumbass fault, as a quick power button push wasn't doing anything to reboot. Thinking it's a soft brick as this screen is the only thing that keeps coming up after Samsung Logo with no unlock/lock symbol, when I try to reboot the phone in various ways. I know I can't use Odin to reflash back to stock MDL after the June OTA update, as I tried with no luck came up failed like I knew it would. Plug in via usb to computer, PC doesn't recognize it, so I can't check / access anything on the phone. Pulling straws here. Just looking to get her back to normal
UPDATE
Plugged stock USB cable/Phone in another USB slot, Odin picked it up (See pics), of course I can't downgrade to MDL from MF3.... failure.

You tried to install a custom recovery from what you are describing, yet not really saying.
You wanted to flash a debloat zip... How would one go about doing that? A custom recovery. Unfortunately, there is none for the MF3 update. The only way you would be in this situation is by trying to flash one. So... You're screwed.

You can try what this guy did and see if it helps...

If it doesn't work i would say you screwed yourself.
Maybe when you "read yourself blind" you missed the Numerous warnings throughout the MF3 root thread and the rest of the forum about MF3 not being able to use custom recoveries or flashing anything?
Good luck.

MF3 Nandroid Backup
I was able to get a full Nandroid Backup for AT&T S4 with the MF# firmware using an app called OBackup. Im not real sure if any of the files would be helpful to those stuck after trying to install a custom recovery. I think if you could get into download mode and in Odin, these .tar files might be helpful.

Never Before Seen or Discussed Soft Brick.

Let me start by saying im a noob well today i decided to root my Tmobile LG G2 running Lollipop 5.0.2 I searched many threads as im not advanced and i found kingroot. Used it version 4.80 and successfully rooted my phone. Then i tried superSU or what ever its called.. Did not work with king root.. So i did some research and came across Super Sume! I paid 3.99 i rebooted my phone and tried it out and it stuck on processing, did not do anything. So i forceclosed i rebooted again uninstalled it and ran it again. And again nothing. Waited half hour nothing. The loading bar would not move.. So i uninstalled the paid one and downloaded an earlier version of super sume. I think its 6.7 instead. I tried it and it installed super su on my device but would again not work. It also deleted king root files from the phone.. Since super su did not work i rebooted. Stuck on tmobile screen... Held the power button turned off the phone. Booted in recovery mode. Did a factory reset and am now stuck in the set up screen. Asks for the language i choose english then has me connect to wifi but when i go to type in the password no keyboard appears ive tried everything i turned in lanscape n tried it and keyboard will not launch so i cant type so I'm stuck. Even if i went to a no password wifi i would still be stuck in the type your name screen. Cause again NO KEYBOARD. What can i do ?? i will donate atleast 5$ if i can get help.
Download latest Lollipop V30h KDZ (stock firmware) for T-Mobile (D801) from here.
And use LG Flash Tool 2014 for flash KDZ: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2797190
It will fix your phone 100%. Use Kingroot then install this for TWRP. And update it from here. In the end, you are free to install any custom ROM you like. No need to donate.

Hey i cant sell it because it has the screen jitters it turns out Nd theres a million threads about it with no fix. Do u know of any fix for that so i can sell this phone i will donate when i sell it. Used to be my moms phone shes like "sell it nobody has to know it has issues it only does it at random" im like "mom, i cant just **** somebody over like that this shyts annoying" i know ppl will buy it if i dont tell em but i dont have it in my heart to do so ive had ppl texting me to buy it until i told em about the issue. I wanted 120 for it now ill take 60 lol.
i have a solution
Here i have a perfect sol.
1)One word--"nandroid backup".yes download a nandroid backup of anyone with same phone as u are having.
2)put it in external sd in a folder naming "clockwardmod"
3)flash cwm or twrp. I have not used twrp,so i prefer cwm as i know more about it.
4)click "backup/restore"
5)now choose restore.
6)now wait and watch.
7)enjoy
8)xda is a helping website so no need of donation
Yeah i finally learned all that and more. I was just comong into the phone game. But its an old post i still have 2 lg g3 and a lg g2. Yeah i know but i like to stick to my words and if i would of sold it i woulda paid em i feel its the right thing to do. Now im mostly into hacking and cracking and thats why im barely here but this site has been great i never bricked once because of this site i had close calls but was able to unbrick. My favorite method of rooting the g3 is the one click script method it works flawlessly.. Im using prime gsm on one phone and stock lollipop on the other. My g2 has the screen jitters. Cant type the letter h in the keyboard cant draw straight lines, scrolls like crazy and cant detect touch on the dead center of the screen so i cant sell it. I use twrp n supersu. Twrp is more user friendly and supports otg so i just flash from my usb drives and keep my phone memory open i have the 32gb versions and i always have more than enough memory on em.. Thanx for the feed back tho i appreciate it bud

[Dirty-Santa Root] Bricked Verizon LG V20 Please Help!!!

I have rooted many phones before without an issue, and during the root process for this phone, everything was going great, I flashed SuperSU zip in TWRP and rebooted, since it was the first boot I expected a decently long wait, after about 25 minutes I followed the guide's instructions for Verizon since it did say some Verizon users were experiencing long first boot times. I took the battery out like it said, put it back in, then proceeded to fastboot boot2.img, like the guide said. After letting it sit for an hour this time, I got the idea that something was obviously wrong. After multiple attempts with no success I tried to fix it myself. So far I have learned that on the fastboot screen it says my bootloader is locked again, even after unlocking it. I have tried flashing TWRP as a recovery, just to at least have a recovery boot, that does not work either unfortunately. So as of right now, all I have is a v20 that has no OS, a locked bootloader, no way of booting recovery, I can fastboot with no ADB, and its virtually a paperweight. If anyone has a solution to at least get back to Stock, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!
First off. It will say: Bootloader Unlocked: No
Thats normal. 2nd. you are not bricked. You have TWRP installed. You just need to redo some steps.

In his case we needed to redo from step 3.
I managed to un-brick mines after returning sadly from the Sprint store.
First, get to the boot loader screen and try running thru the steps again, especially step 3. You need to make sure you have TWRP.
Use this link to make sure you can get into the different modes (Download mode, fastboot, etc) http://www.hardreset.info/devices/lg/lg-v20/
Once you can get TWRP to show up,then you are good. In the mean time I downloaded "LS997-deODEXd-signed"
When I got into TWRP, I transferred the file to my phone. Rebooted from TWRP back into TWRP and flashed the ROM.
During my reboots, I do get a message saying my phone is corrupt, blah blahblah, but I just wait a few seconds and it will boot up.
Hope this helps.
I had managed to brick mines only 3 hours after upgrading from my Note 4. It took me from 9pm to almost 2am to get it back up again. I can live with the message about my phone being unbootable until someone comes up with a work thru.
Bricked T-Mobile v20
I have rooted many phones before without an issue, and during the root process for this phone, everything was going great, I flashed SuperSU zip in TWRP and rebooted, since it was flash a new rom on it then i get boot loop with TWRP. so i decide to OEM LOCK again after that everything was stuck on my phone just boot loop with LG so any solutions please help me...... THx u for help me.
Kinda nerve wrecking to read about all these "bricked" phones popping up after trying this method lol.. Perhaps I'll just wait until a more tried and true way comes out...
Dirty Santa root is not for the average user who has a couple of experience in rooting.
You have to at least have background on Hard bricking phones to fully understand what you are getting yourself into
For anyone that isnt on sprint that has "bricked" their phone. There are kdz's that will allow you to reflash back to 'stock". Someone had an issue with the kdz, but it was an easy fix. If you failed the process, it can be restored. Just if it doesnt want to boot, just lock and unlock the bootloader...
If your phone doesnt have a kdz, I know TeamDev is working on a custom kdz for such phones. Don't bug him if it isn't finished as I type this.
Anyone that can't get into TWRP, or has failed the process. Either start back at step 3, or if you have TWRP installed but can't get to it, the manual way to get into TWRP is a pain.
Keep your back cover off and hold the volume down button for ease. Now press the power button and as soon as you see an LG logo, let go and repress the power button. Its tricky.... If you get the corrupted screen, pop your battery out and put it back in quick and repress volume down and power. Usually if Im quick enough the first LG logo will hang a lot longer than usual and that gives me time to enter TWRP. A factory reset screen will pop up. Hit Yes twice.
Please help urgent

What does that mean? Not for the average user who has a couple of experiences in rooting.
I've only rooted 2 phones, this is my 3rd (maybe 4th). I am on Sprint. Instructions worked fine for me. I did have one hiccup, but it was my fault, and I was able to root just fine. I've been running for a few months now.
I have not flashed any custom ROM yet, I'm going to wait for the next major version of Android to come out. The only mods I've done so far are Titanium Backup install so I can remove Sprint crap.

it means dirty santa root got a high posibility rate of bricking a device compared to other root methods for other devices and if you have no experience in bricking phones before then you're screwed if it happens to you
Actually, if you follow the directions, almost none of the problems create a true brick-- which means unrecoverable. For most of the cases, you might get a soft brick, meaning you have to back out, use a KDZ to repair it or reflash something else, or start over from scratch and try again-- but usually (maybe with some help from here) you can pull the phone back into a usable state.
I would hazard to guess for the vast majority the process works fine, maybe with a hiccup, but I've not seen many reports of a truly unrecoverable brick from this method. It's complicated, yes, and you need to be ready to read a LOT to understand what's going on, but it seems pretty difficult to end up with a $700 paperweight with this.
So i have been trying tonroot my sprint lg v20 and everytime i try and go to the phone on mobile terminal to enter id
Then enter the apply patch /system/bin/atd /storage/emulated/0/dirtysanta i get this message and i cant go to step 2 to boot into recovery
Any help would be appreciated: i have a sprint v20 and i wanted to know if i have to flash the stock sprint rom or can i just flash lineage rom following this guide? I have it running on AT&T and i want to keep it on AT&T...
can you please assist
Could you help out, please? I don't believe I have hard bricked my LG V20 H910. However, I have read and tried all of the unbrick info out. It seems my screw up is unique. I completed dirty Santa then went to flash a custom. in the boot between that. I get a black screen and cant do anything even download mode will not come up. My PC does make its usual noises when i connect or disconnect, but my phone does nothing.
Ok, I managed to brick mine too. It's a VS995, it was running stock 1AC. I used the LGUP tool to downgrade it to VS99512A, and then did Dirty Sanata and TWRP. After booting into TWRP I decided to try lineage OS with Android 8.0, I did not make a backup of the Stock ROM, which was very stupid. Lineage OS 15.1 flashed but I had no cell service so I panicked and instead of wiping it in TWRP and using the backup of stock I should have created, I just opened LGUP and tried to downgrade it back to stock VSS99512A. Well LGUP said it worked, but when it went to boot it would hang at the Verizon logo with 4 pastel dots. Device manager could see an ADB device and I could connect to it with ADB. So I did and read the logcat. I could see it was trying to update as part of the rollback, but it appeared that some components from Android 8x could not be "upgraded" to Andoird 7.x. There was a repeated error about failing to update SQLite instance version from 3 to 1.
The one feature that could fix this is if the refurbish function worked with any of the VS995 KDZ files we all have access to. But alas, none work instead we only get the upgrade function... or so I thought. Somewhere in my search for the past 2 weeks I found a modified LGUP https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/guide-patch-lgup-to-unlock-features-t3652222
**Please be warned what I did was absolutely ****ing stupid, and it was sheer luck I didn't screw anything up.**
From what I can tell if you only flash ("LGUP Upgrade") the KDZ from the same model it never clears the partition it just adds to it. My problem was there was stuff from lineage OS 15 stuck on one of the partitions that was making the rollback to stock fail because it kept saying it couldn't update the SQLLite DB from 3 to 1. So no "upgrade" within LGUP would work because the upgrade function does not clear internal storage. But the link above is to a version someone modded so you can force a partition update from any KDZ onto the system. So I started playing around with forcing KDZs from other models onto my VS995, and I noticed when using the Partion DL function with non-VS995 KDZ files it would say something about the partition changing. All I can assume is that the partition layout is so different on each model and it forces LGUP to re-partition the storage.
**Again I state for the record this was stupid, and I'm only fortunate it worked.**
I forced Partion DL of H91510d_00_VTR_CA_OP_1110.kdz, then H990N10b_00_OPEN_HK_DS_OP_1017.kdz, then back to VS99512A_06_1114_ARB00.kdz, then when it booted it gave the Verizon hello, and moved on finally but the setting service kept crashing while it was trying to load the Secure Boot screen. So I yanked the battery and went into the boot menu and did the Factory Reset function, and it worked.
Lesson learned, always make a backup and don't be so hasty to use tools that aren't fully functional (LGUP).
Perhaps what I've done may help others, maybe I've found out how to reimage or unbrick our V20s. Or maybe I just got really stupid lucky.

Using SP Flash Tool, flash the preloader.bin first.Use meta mode if not detected, all three buttons together while connecting and keep pressed until flashing starts.
If flashing was successful then your phone should at least be able to vibrate when you press the power button or boot if the correct files are present on your phone; else, flash other necessary files to make the phone boot up and start working normally again.
P.s. writing again and again is painful as I'm lazy-ass.
I'm thinking of making a thread about this but again,I'm lazy-ass.

In the meanwhile i tried flashing a new custom ROM from xdafirmware.com. But the SP flash tools downloads upto 9.86MB and then the download stops...What could be the reason? Also please let me know if Miracle Box is any kind of solution for these kind of problems! Thanks and God bless.

Sorry but this thread limits to A350 only.
---------- Post added at 07:55 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:50 PM ----------
Using SP Flash Tool, flash the preloader.bin first.Use meta mode if not detected, all three buttons together while connecting and keep pressed until flashing starts.

What did you actually do?
What caused bootloop if full v3 rom was actually flashed?
Also, there's no custom roms on xdafrimware.com,it's only stock roms and make sure whatever you flash is for A350 only!
You can find everything on our blog:
www.canvasknightroms.blogspot.in
Good luck!

Do you even know A350's battery is non-removable?
The only way you can remove it is by disassembling the device but doing that will compromise with your battery life.It should only be used in worst case scenario and everything else fails to work!

First of all, I apologize for my mistake. It was not a custom ROM but a Canvas Knight Stock ROM... The file name is this...Micromax_A350_V2_040614_KitKat_(by_xdafirmware.com). It's a version 2 (unmerged storage). However, earlier I had flashed a version 3 (merged storage) ROM and since it was constantly giving me trouble I tried to reflash version 2 ROM...But unable to do so...it gets stuck at 9.6MB or 0% in the SP Flash tool.
I tried the format+download option too. But in vain. Guess I am doing something wrong! What could it be? Thanks and God bless.
Btw, I have been through your blog in the past and benefited from the same. Thanks

Version 3 booted well the first time...it went all the way...i was setting it up nicely...and it hung and just stopped. Ever since then I tried to reboot it would not load...the Canvas Knight logo with the sound would come on and then restart or get hung at that point. In short, it would not fully boot anymore except for that once!
So I decided to do away with version 3 and thought version 2 would be fine because that's what was originally on my phone...but now this is the problem...i mean the SPFT gets hung at 0%.
Thanks and God bless you.
On a different note, I would still love to have version 3 if possible since I plan to install a custom ROM...most likely Cyanogenmod....
Latest update...
Latest Update…
I finally managed to successfully flash a Kitakat 4.4.2 vs. 2 (unmerged storage) stock rom…I downloaded the file again from xdafirmware.com and flashed it. There was no problem. The phone has started and its up since the last one hour or so.
Before booting I entered into stock recovery and did a wipe data/factory reset and also wipe cache partition. So far no problem. I have not yet switched on my wifi coz I am worried it might go off again and enter a bootloop.
Battery was 95% when booted...its now 94% since one hour...I have not used the phone at all though...
Now I have a barrage of questions…
1) The IMEI is gone…I know how to get it back. But would appreciate a proper guidance on this…I have tried using Maui Meta 3G ver 6.1 and was successful in restoring my original IMEI numbers. Is there a better way out? Or should I stick to this one? Should I use IMEI&SN Writer?
2) NVRAM WARNING: Err= 0x10 …how do I fix this…I have never tried fixing this before. So no idea whatsoever. I have no backups of the original stock rom. Greatest mistake I ever did.
3) How to restore my original serial number (S/N) of the phone? I have the Original S/N but don’t know how to do it. Also, is S/N being restored a necessary requirement like IMEI numbers since it is linked to the SIM/Network?
4) How to unlock the bootloader? This is the biggest headache. I believe one cannot install custom ROM’s without unlocking the bootloader.
5) What are the best rooting apps? Is SuperSu good enough to root?
6) Which is the best custom recovery for Canvas Knight?
7) Final question, how to go about using this tool Mtk_Droid_Tool_v2.5.3
Sorry for the trouble. But I have messed up many times in the last one month with innumerable flashing of the ROM’s and zip files. Now, once bitten twice shy I want to play safe.
So please let me know your thoughts if they are fail proof and time tested. Thanks for all your help. God bless.

Well I hate giving bad news to people but I might know what causing all this.
As you say,the phone booted fine now but you'll likely see random hangs and sudden reboots in using it,to be sure, use it for atleast 2 hrs constantly and then we can proceed further with your questions.
In mean time,check this post:

Well I tried using it for a while...no internet...just going through settings and checking...then I enabled Developers options and connected USB. Tried to check if the phone was listed on ADB etc....but then it went into a bootloop and kept shutting down after periodic bootloops...now its totally down...not responding at all.
Anyway, I think I know how to get it back when everything else fail. Until then stay blessed and don't give up.

Hi, Sorry for the sudden disappearance. I really didn't know how to reply to your "HOW"? But I knew there was a CERTAIN possibility of getting the phone back...I call it faith in God. And I have plenty of faith and I believe in the impossible coz I have seen some of the most impossible things happen in my life and around me over the years. So plain hope and faith in God was what I banked on. But I have no logical explanation to give on the phone starting again smoothly. I have been struggling with this phone for the last 45 days. And this is the first time the phone has really stayed put and it got booted in just one go!
Also your signature line was a source of continued inspiration to hit out against all the odds and doubts.
I would now kindly appreciate any help in restoring the phone to full functionality...I mean would love to hear answers for my questions from the previous post.
In the meanwhile, I did a bit of study on the Miracle Box and a tool called ALL-IN-ONE-TOOL_V2.1...
But, I don't want to jump the gun and get going...Will wait for expert advice. Until then God bless us all. Stay blessed. And yes, thanks for all the help. Shalom.

Hi Ak,
Thanks for your reply. My device is up and about since the last hmmm...to be exact...26 hours. I didn't have any reboots or bootloops or anything for that matter.
However, I need to set it up complete...customization I mean...and these are some of the problems I am facing... Quoting a part of the previous post to save typing...

In the meanwhile, I have done a little bit of study and RnD of the miracle box/MTK Droid Tools/S&N Writer tool etc. on my old Canvas HD 116. And I realized that the Miracle Box is one good tool. The IMEI No. can be changed in a jiffy. Rooting is extremely easy using this box. I did via adb.
In short, a bit too confused with too much knowledge on hand. Looking for wisdom to apply this knowledge correctly. There could be many simpler ways too!!! Any help in this regard is much appreciated.
Thanks and God bless us all. Shalom.

Okay don't panic!
Clearly your device is fine by hardware stuff so let's fix some myths and problem of yours.
Firstly, this is mt6592 so you don't have to unlock any boot loader stuff. You can just root your device using kingroot or kingoroot(google it).
For more please read out this whole section,
https://canvasknightroms.blogspot.com/2015/10/rooting-canvas-knight.html?m=1
Now I believe you have root by now. Now all you need to do is get a recovery and as you're on v2 you can find it here,
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5W6R0DsDjWTU1o3TEpfWGFsMEE/view
This is philz recovery with OTG support. As you've root just download the IMG file and flash it though flashify, you can find it on Play store. So you've recovery!
Again, these are just suggested methods, you can do all that with other methods too. Also please stop wasting time on stuffs like miracle boxes and etc etc.
Secondly to get your imei back it would be very easy as you've recovery.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6-QF5uchBNhbFlfVk1wOEthbms/view
Just flash this file in recovery and everything shld be fine.
Now to fix Nvram error, just extract the folder from this backup zip,
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByuIKfMkBBxBaXBZRHJnNHVRMVk/view
And using any root explorer(I prefer es file manager) go to /data root and replace nvram folder with the folder in this zip
Now the best recovery would be philz recovery for v2 but I greatly suggest you to flash v3 for a variety of reasons and custom ROMs.Yes,you need to shift to v3 to get LP or MM and new updated ROMs though you can still flash available ROMs for v2 which you can find here,
https://canvasknightroms.blogspot.in/2015/10/all-roms-link-for-v2.html?m=1
Very less isn't it? That's because storage barrier in v2.
You can find various mods here,
https://canvasknightroms.blogspot.in/2015/10/mods.html?m=1
You can find correct stock ROMs here,
https://canvasknightroms.blogspot.in/2015/10/stock-rom.html?m=1
Flashing the sim fix above will eventually fix SN too.
And yes many custom ROMs are bundled with SuperSU so you should use that.
To convert from kingroot user to super su use this guide,
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ca...ck-switch-kingroot-to-supersu-easily-t3426965
And lastly mtkdroidtools is a good tool and you should definitely have it just in case for backing up stuff and tinkering with ADB.
With all that said, you should join our Whatsapp group for more faster help and updates by messaging me on my Whatsapp No. +919468519959
Enjoy!
Edit: writing all this is a pain in ass,at least one thanks is deserved

Hi Ak,
I went through your entire post and more or less got most of the useful and helpful information. I have not gone through all the links and will do so in due course.
I have been on your website and have read quite a bit and was happy to see the dedication and commitment to help people like us.
I am sure the phone like you said is stable and away from hardware issues. I will consider flashing vs. 3 soon. Yes, i agree with you there are more choices for vs. 3. I did peep into the website last week to see the big list of custom ROM's for vs. 3.
Last but not the least, God bless you. Shalom.

What about joining our whatsapp group?

Will pay $75 if someone can help me unbrick G2

I have a bricked LG G2 that is stuck in a boot loop.
I was running a custom rom and lent the phone to my ex-gf and she tried said yes to OTA update. Then instead of telling me she attempted the fix the phone herself and in doing so used TWRP to wipe backups/all data/everything.
I can get into TWRP. I can use adb sideload.
That is it. No recovery mode, No download mode.
Can't get device detected by qhsusb_bulk
I think I need to fix the stock firmware/image. LG flashtool doesn't work and I think that is because I cannot boot the phone into android and because I can't get into Download mode.
Here is a semi-revelant thread on XDA, I posted there but haven't had a lot of replies, I doubt many people check the G2 forums as its an old phone at this point, yet its still in perfect condition, has a 1080p screen and runs fast.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2582142&page=375
Please please help. Ill paypal someone $75 if they can help me get it working.
Thanks
Which variant? D802? Which firmware were you using before, kitkat, lollipop, stock or custom ROM? PM me if you want, I have bricked and unbricked mine many times

D803
I was running a custom rom. I *think* it was lollipop.
Basically the phone sat in my desk for two years without use as I had a work from home job and could get by with a free app on my iPad, I lent it to my ex and this happened a few days later
I now need a mobile phone for a new job I am starting and this phone is still beautiful I would really like to use this instead of dishing out multiple hundreds of dollars
Not a problem to help. I've bricked my old G2/my wife's G2 not less than 10 times, and all gonna Ok later. If you has TWRP saved backups - then I can help unbrick it even if it stuck on "LG" logo! Can PM me foor details
As long as EFS is not wiped or you have a backup you can just flash a new ROM with TWRP right? Or flash a backup?
As long as you can access TWRP you can also connect to USB in case you do not have any ROMS stored on the phone and transfer them that way.
