These guys are saying Orange & T-Mobile are rolling out 2.1 on the 16th April
I know it's unofficial but certainly coincides with Legend release dates.
Hilariously, they site the XDA Developers forum as their source.
THEY SITE THIS SITE AS THEIR SOURCE
That's Hilarious, When did XDA Forums become creditably supplies of information for the Hero 2.1 release schedule? How many missed dates have people gotten their hopes up for?
Ah well, My hopes are in a bucket in a ditch. I will not be raising them

Agreed, to be honest I think it's more likely to be early May before they release 2.1, almost tempted to sell the Hero and just buy an unlocked Legend when it's released.

Another site reporting that the 16th April is the date:
http://mobilenews.omio.com/mobile-phone-handset-news/htc-hero-gets-date-for-android-2-1-update/
would be interesting to know where they are getting the information from, must just be a massive rumour mill somewhere.
theres really no point posting guessed released dates, lets just wait till atleast end of april

Heh I've given up on trying to educate people on correct spelling and grammar. Too many are of the attitude "well you know what I meant so it doesn't really matter".
My pet hates are of course your/you're and there/their/they're. It would probably take someone less than 5 minutes to get their head around given the correct definition yet incorrect use is rife on the Internet.
My pet hate is the use of the word "loose" when the correct word would be "lose".
For example: "I don't want to loose my settings".
Arghh!!!!
topic please?
OT
But it would be appropriate if you wished to loose your settings, like the hounds of hell, upon the unsuspecting public.
P.S. You could try the Villain 4.0 Beta 2. It seems pretty good and battery life is amazing at the moment for me. It is built from a Legend leak - but does chew up a lot of memory - I suspect that HTC engineers were liberal with memory use because the Legend has a bit more than our Heroes.

There are loads of threads with "possible" 2.1 release dates, and all of them are of less value than a discussion on grammar and spelling. It is especially true of this thread since it is only regurgitating a rumour that started on another thread in these very forums!
Personally, if I were a mod, I'd lock any thread with a purported 2.1 release date because they serve no purpose other than to get peoples dander up when the date inevitably passes with no update!

Dave

personally i'd be a bit pissed if the sprint hero got the update before the GSM one!

+1 !!! I definitely agree. I wish people would just post their useless links in an existing thread rather than keep starting new ones.
Ah more info, have no idea if this is any more reliable than anything else.
Engadget just posted it as being the 26th April http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/26/htc-hero-update-to-android-2-1-on-april-26th-in-home-country-of/
Just another rumour ...
Not user x and user y are spreading them, companys like engadget are spreading rumours and they have the aura to be close to the manufacturers but aren't ...
Why should HTC issue an official release date on plurk and nowhere else?
Let's just wait and see
This was posted by Rikard in his blog...check out the comments section on the blog in the post named We’re Co-sponsoring 500Gs, Glu Game Dev Competition..this is what he writes...
Hello guys we are very sorry for not updating you, our beloved customers. Our developers finalize that on june 15, 2011 the expected Gingerbread update will be out. After this update our developers will focus on other models such as x8, mini and mini pro to be updated on 2.3
I'm not blind lol but nice, even though I don't have any of those phones, its good to know SE actually cares about reputation for caring about the customers now. It makes me want to stay with the company for my next phone.
haha ...well the font was just to emphasize...
Its not Rikard!!!. Its a fake, it didnt
have his avatar and his grammar is rubbish too!

Reteu (retail European Union) is XT1068 too. Do they sell that in Bangladesh too? Basically the same device as sold in India. So the OP zip should be compatible.

A warning on the Motorola owners forum:
About Soak Tests and the MFNComment:
Hi.
We do appreciate your enthusiasm about the coming release of Lollipop, and about testing via the*Motorola Feedback Network. At the same time, please keep these things in mind:
*- All*Motorola Feedback Network information is*confidential.*That means if you get an invitation and then post about it, you might be disqualified. Please read and understand what you are agreeing to. We want everyone to stay eligible.
- Test Drive and Soak Tests are committments. If you are not prepared to be patient if we encounter problems with the software or updating issues, please*do not*sign up. You are joining to help, not to get a jump on the newest software. If you sign up, you are taking responsibility for the decision to test. We need your help, but we also need your patience.
- We never release dates and details about software update timing. Until it's tested, we can't know for sure. So please don't post that question. We're working to roll Lollipop out globally to all eligible devices, as quickly as possible.
- Search is your friend. Someone else may have already posted your question, so please post on that thread instead of starting a new one. It makes it much easier for solving problems and communicating information.
Again, we really appreciate that so many people are interested in testing and upgrading. Thanks!

i think the person who you refer to is member who posted at android 5.0 discussion thread on page 10
lollipop update is a very confidental project that Motorola's staff really really should be careful to not spread it to public and always keep their mouth off to it
But why did he tell when the update was comeing, if he knew he should of kept it a secret?

Hello everyone this the last time I'm writing on this topic
Techdroider just mention this on there blog
Yesterday, we saw many websites reporting the news that Motorola is rolling out Oreo to a large number of devices including the Moto X4, Moto Z and Z2 Series, Moto G5, Moto G5s Plus, and Moto G4 Plus. Well, the news is quite misleading as the Official Press Release from Motorola only says that the Moto X4 is getting the Oreo update in Australia starting today and the eligible devices for Oreo includes Moto Z and Z2 Series, Moto G5, Moto G5s Plus, and Moto G4 Plus. That said, Don't get spun by Internet rumors.
Complete details click here :-https://www.techdroider.com/2018/02/motorola-posts-february-2018-release-notes-moto-z-z2-play-force.html?m=1
Yeah, it is weird that an almost unknown forum hot the press information, while the rest of the important sites didn't get any information..
It's legit

Hi, editor for Ausdroid here. The information pertaining to the launch of Oreo for this list of phones came from the PR company representing Motorola in Australia. We have double checked with them and they confirmed that Oreo is indeed coming to these devices. The initial launch is in Australia and New Zealand. The rest of the world will follow.
