Hi,
I have recently sim unlocked my SPH-L720 that means my Sprint Galaxy S4 is now working on T-Mobile sim. In order to do this I had to downgrade my baseband to MVC. Earlier I had NAE baseband. I think I read somewhere that I cannot upgrade my baseband version which will revert SIM unlock.
I want to install custom ROMs on my unlocked Sprint mobile now. Can someone please tell me how many custom ROMs can I install on my modified device? I am very much inclined towards installing Carbon Rom but not sure whether it will break away sim unlock feature. Here is the link to the post. http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/orig-development/rom-carbonrom-kitkat-t2630336
Please guide..

Hi guys one of my friends bought a S4 in the US, It's AT&T locked SGH-I337 so can't use it with sim in our country (South Africa)We have two models of S4 here, the I9500&I9505. Was wondering what the right steps is to get the phone working? Must I root the phone and flash custom Rom & kernel or just unlock sim card? I'm not new to Rooting or flashing Roms but haven't fidled with carrier locked phones before. And is it possible to use custom Roms from At&t in other countries thanks in advance [emoji2]

The Sgh-i337 is basically the same as the gt-i9505 EXCEPT for ATT locking the bootloader on that model.
You CAN Sim unlock it so you can insert your Sim into it. You will have to reach it a bit though. It helps if you know what firmware is installed on the phone. If it is MDB, MDL, or MF3 it would be easier to do I believe. Either way look for the threads about unlocking.
If you have NEWER firmware then there are separate threads for it, and it will more than likely need to be rooted, flash a older modem, then perform the Sim unlock from the menu. If you cannot find the correct post I can help look for it later.
Just reply back with WHAT firmware and Baseband you have installed on the phone and we should be able to help you further.
If you do have MDB or MDL firmware do NOF update it...

Thanks for reply ,I have NC1 firmware and I used Method 3 on this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2595457 .SUCCESS!
Could you recommend a modem I could try other than MF3 as the signal isn't that great ?

Not sure which would work best for your area. You can download and try any/all of them until you find one that works best. You can switch back and forth with no issues without worries
I'm new to rooting ATT phones, my wife just go a free ATT S4 I337UCUFNC1 from a friend and I want to root, convert it from ATT to T-Mobile phone then unlocking it.
The phone doesn’t have a sim yet but I'm planning on putting my wife's present T-mobile sim in there.
I'm very familiar with the T-mobile Samsung S4 version.
I've read that I need a safestrap after root?
Can I update to 4.4.4?
Can someone point me in the right direction?

Follow this to root http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=56453100. To run on tmobile you'll have to sim unlock it. Try regionally away

To Sim unlock, flash the MF3 modem in safestrap recovery and then run regionlockaway app.
Thanks alot, I was able to boot in Safestrap Recovery but after I rebooted from that and then tried to reboot back into Recovery Safestrap FC'ed. I tried uninstalling the app and reinstalling it but is FC'ed again, dunno what's it going on.
How do I get back into Recovery if Safestrap is FC'ing? (I'm trying to flash the MF3 modem)
NVM, Got back into recover, flashed the modem now and used Region SimLock, I took my T-Mobile sim and put it in the AT&T phone and it works.
Now I will try to convert it from AT&T to a T-Mobile Phone using : http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-att/general/convert-i337-to-m919-wifi-caling-t2896719
Quick Question
If I use this method to convert from a AT&T to T-Mobile will I loose the Unlock Sim?
Would I be able to use Region SimLock again with the being updated to 4.4.4?
Got everything going... completed!
Thanks!
Hi guys,
I read a couple of threads and tried a couple of things and didn't work... Im trying to sim unlock my Galaxy S4 GT I9500 on stock android 4.3 not rooted and is not working.
I read about a code using *#0011# code and didn't work.. Post was not specific about using no sim, original carrier sim or desire carrier sim.. anyway I tried all and was a failure.
I read another thread about flashing a modem and downgrading the firmware but wasnt specific enough about how to do it and the requirements (android version, rooted?, how to do it, etc)
I try one of those "code pages" and even they couldnt help me. My carrier is Movistar in Nicaragua.
Is there is any easy way to SIM unlock my phone? maybe by just installing a pre-rooted, pre-unlocked rom? or is there is a page/guide/video with specific instruction on how to do it?
thanks in advance.
I think the step by step instructions on SIM unlocking in the main thread on the topic are pretty specific. They don't mention downgrading the device modem through Odin however because they were written before Samsung patched the exploits that allowed the SIM unlock to work.
Downgrading the modem to an Android 4.2.2 version in the AP/PDA slot in Odin is necessary to run either unlock metbod. However, you can really mess things up trying to unlock if you aren't careful, especially with the service menu exploit.
Hi people,
Can i flash international rom on a Verizon galaxy S5?
If yes, how can it be done?
Thanks!
To install international G900F rom, must be bootloader unlocked:
Same way as flashing a normal kltevzw/G900V rom, find a klte/G900F rom and flash it. Any incompatibility warnings are probably outdated, but be careful, and remember, you can't make too many backups.
Just know that you won't be able to use CDMA networks (Verizon is CDMA).
To enable 4G/Phone service in other countries, works with locked bootloader:
You're stuck with the G900V rom. If you're just looking to get support for extra bands in other countries, look into GalaxyTools by Idoneapps. It can give you international support on most existing roms, stock or not. Kinda hard to use but you'll get used to it.
Both methods will most likely require some APN settings modifications.
If your cat suddenly gets eaten or you need clarification, I'd be glad to help.
(You weren't too clear on your request - I didn't know if you wanted an international rom or international support, so I tried to include both.)
I have G900V model but I do not have verizon services in my country. I wanted to get rid of verizon rom as it's of no use to me. Therefore I was looking for a intrenational varient. I am running MM6.0.1 with rooted and bootloader unlocked. Will flashing a G900F rom again lock the bootloader.
How to proceed withave the process. Please help.

please help me how you root your verizon s5.

thank you.
Can anybody help me root my 900f Verizon s5?
I'm new here but have been following xda for years. I'm not new to rooting or flashing custom roms but after a few days of searching I can't find an answer to the following question.
I have and unlocked Verizon Note 4 n910v running Android 4.4.4 on the Cricket (AT&T) network. If I'm going to install a custom rom, do I need to find a rom for Verizon or for AT&T? Also can anyone clear up the rumor about a locked bootloader on this device? Any help would be awesome!
If you have already unlocked the bootloader on the 910V, I'm not too sure what rumor you are referencing regarding a locked bootloader ::
As far as roms go, it's a Verizon device so you need Verizon roms and firmware.

For ROMs, you must install verizon ROMs because the phone uses verizon-customized hardware.
It is no rumor that this device comes with a locked bootloader. However, thanks to the talented devs here at XDA, there is now an official way to unlock the bootloader; but you have to update to Lollipop 5.1.1 and BPA1 baseband.
I'm using a T-mobile sim in my verizon note 4 without unlocking the bootloader on lollipop and BPA1, so you shouldn't worry about your sim not working after updating. Have fun!
you have a misunderstanding of unlocked. what you are referencing is that you are using the factory unlocked gsm portion of the modem in the verizon model phone. you are NOT bootloader unlocked as you are still on 4.4! if you want to truly unlock it (as in the bootloader) then you will need to upgrade to 5.1.1 (BPA1) via odin. There are several tutorials on how to achieve this, and unlocking (including one that i wrote on the main thread).
to answer your question about using a verizon rom or a t-mobile rom, you can try any snapdragon rom that you would like, but there is NO GUARANTEE that they will work as each developer compiles with or without certain components. what ever you do, do NOT try to flash other carrier (at&t, t-mobile, sprint, etc.) firmware. BIG NO NO! although you claim to have experience with rooting and flashing roms, i would advise you to ALWAYS stick with the carrier variation of whatever device you are working with until you get a better understanding of the different components to a phone i.e. bootloader, modem, rom, etc. xda-university has a nice explanation of these things. so go read up on these things. if you need help, feel free to ask.
Thank you for everyone's advice. Upgrade to lollipop via Odin and bpa1. Got it. As far as custom rom goes, use a Verizon carrier custom rom.
