[Q] Flashlight: Long-press volume up? - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I followed this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2329876 hoping it would work on my Galaxy S5 too, but unfortunately I get the error "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped." when I try to open Torchlight (last picture).
Has any of you succeeded in enabling flashlight by pressing the volume buttons?

Try this . . .

Try the Quickclick app, by BLOR. It does not require root, and can assign many tasks to sequences of volume-key presses or long-presses.

Using an app called Torchie, just press both 'volume buttons' together to turn on/off torch anytime. It runs as a background service and just works anytime, even when screen off (if enabled from Torchie Settings). It kinda make your phone feel like a conventional battery operated torch

[Q] CM7 #21 Lockscreen issues

hi guys
i've flashed my legend with the cm7 nightly build #21
now i'm facing some issues regarding the lockscreen and i hope some of you can help me with this:
1. is there any possibility to remove or switch the haptic effect while unlocking?
2. when i push the power button, the phone is not locked, because when i press it immediately afterwards again, the homescreen appears.
thx
I'm running CM 6.1 so things might be a little different, but I know there is a settings (I believe it's under "CyanogenMod settings") that lets you change the time it takes for the screen to lock after going to sleep or ressing the power button.
You might also find the answer to the haptic problem in there somewhere too.

I presume you have a "pattern unlock" screen and from there you want haptic feedback removed. For that go to Settings - Location & Security and under "Screen unlock" section you have "Use tactile feedback" option. Untick that to have no vibrations when drawing the pattern.

Go to CyanogenMod Settings - Lockscreen and the last section is "Delay and timeout". You have 2 options there "Screen timeout delay" and "Screen turn off delay". Set them both to "Immediately" (by default is something like 3 or 5 seconds) and you're done

[Q] How to change lock screen pernamently?

I want vanilla android lock screen. Widget locker сant remove it completely and can't skip it on reboot. It also works sometimes very strangely and slowly!
That's odd. I purchased Widget Locker and it works fine on my GS2. I no longer see Samsung's lockscreen after reboot or standby. And I've no issues with the behavior and performance of it either.
Perhaps check your WidgetLocker settings.
Did you enable "Appear on boot"?

Yes, it doesn't help. I've tried every setting possible to set. Also middle button works terrible! I need to press it many time before it starts working. Besides middle button turns off lock screen, but I don't want it and I don't know how to disable this.
Anyway, why I need to use it? I just want to use only ONE standart lockscreen. Without any unnecessary soft in memory.
I'm using WidgetLocker and i got no problem, it completely replaced the default lockscreen. Just use easy wake wake mode and appear on boot and samsung's default lockscreen will be replaced.
How to disable unlocking by pressing a middle button?

No, it's not! If you quickly press power button than try to unlock screen - you will see a samsung lockscreen for a second. Samsung lockscreen and widget locker just working in same time.
Have you disabled Samsung's lockscreen ? I don't have my SGS2 yet but on my current Android phone I can completely disable existing lockscreen.

Sorry, mine works perfectly. Can't see any trace of samsung lockscreen, nor when i unlock, neither in applications running. I also disabled it from WidgetLocker settings, so there's no way it can run or appear.
Ok, let it show for a second, this is not a big problem. Told me - how to disable unlocking by pressing middle button???
In samsung default lockscreen (or any default lockscreen on android device) i press power or middle button - and screen show on. In widget locker I press middle button (power button works here ok) and waiting from 2 to 5 seconds before screen go on. This problem is only with my device?

My home button doesn't unlock the device, it just wakes it. In button actions i just cleared every button and only allowed volume buttons. I'm talking about WidgetLocker, not default samsung lockscreen.
Found setting in widget locker to disable middle button unlock phone, but slow home button is still here.

"Fix broken power button" app by Destil

This app is the only app that I can find on the market that allows remapping power button function of waking up screen to other hard buttons such as volume buttons. This app works like a charm, but only with one small problem: IT DOES NOT WORK WITH A LOCK SCREEN
to use this app, you have to disable lock screen, then you can use your volume buttons to wake your device up. If lock screen is enabled, then pressing volume buttons would not do anything. I've contacted Destil and he said that it just will not work with lock screens on Honeycomb and ICS, but he did not elaborate on why it doesnt.
anyone know how to make this app work with lock screens? the app is open source.

Long press home button google assistant function

I Know you can turn off the assistant application by switching it to "none" under help and phone input in the phone settings, i did that, the fucntion got disabled successfully, but after couple of hours ( usually during the night ) it magically comes back to be turned on again....
Should i disable somewhere something more also?

Personally i am using Swipeup Utility (sorry no link new user can't link) . You can set it at the long press handler and then you set it to do no action (or select one of custom actions)
https://android.gadgethacks.com/how...ndroid-device-switch-back-google-now-0174676/ try this if can help you
You have to set the custom action "Google Now On Tap" to long press home button, it will open google assistant because now on tap was replaced by assistant.
Disable google app
