rom help wanted - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I wanted to ask the community's opinion on a rom. I want either a 4.4.2 or 4.2.2 based lg rom for my lg. I like some of the features and I can live without the google stock experience. Ive had plenty of phones with that, and want to try something different. I also like how good the pictures come out with the lg based roms. What are some of the better roms, for the lg g2 that will work with my d800 version. I appreciate everyones help. I would prefer a 4.4.2 rom, but open to any suggestion. thanks again.

[Q] Developper&Community Support: G2 vs N5

Hey,
I am going to buy a new phone, however I am still doubting between the G2 or the N5. They are both equally priced, altough the G2 is a little bit cheaper with an LG cashback.
At this moment the G2 has a head start due to the larger battery, better camera (4K?!) and better specs overal (IR blaster) and I am going to use a custom rom anyway ( tips anyone ?).
However I am still in doubt to what the support of the community is.
Thus what I wanted to know is, how is the developper support and the community support of the G2 in comparison to the N5?
At first glance there seems to be much more support, developpers and custom roms for the N5 than the G2, can anyone tell me if this is indeed the case.
Is there btw a custom rom similiar to that of the N5 (with perhaps quickremote support)?
Thanks

The Nexus phones have pretty much the largest development base, so yes that's true. If you want access to the most roms, Nexus wins. Battery life would suffer though, that's why I chose the G2. There are some great roms for the G2 though, you have to do some searching to see if you like them. Cyanogenmod is the closest to the N5, which is just vanilla kitkat. For quickremote I think you need a stock based rom, but there are a few out there that have a dark theme like vanilla kitkat.

Thank you for your reply, I had a S3 where I had CM 11 unofficial on it (loved it).
I however read that the battery life of CM11 on the G2 is pretty bad.
One quick question again, I am from belgium and will thus be getting the international 802 version: I noticed there is a devide between the different versions, does that mean that I won't be able to use roms in the 801 forum ?

There are many roms that will work with all G2 versions, but roms only designed to work on 801 will not work on 802 without being ported (by a developer). The title usually says which version(s) it will work with. Some say "All variants".
I can't comment on CM because I run a customized stock rom. Great battery life and I really like white themes rather than dark.

Okay understandable, but that's kinda dissapointing about not being able to flash 801 on 802 or the other way around,
To my opinion, not a lot of roms will/could be ported to the other version. I believe this is of such a great influence that the N5 would be a wiser choice.
Can you help me out a bit and point me in the right direction as to where I can find these "many" custom roms ?
I have searched in G2 android development and G2 android development (802) section and the amount of custom roms I found was very limited:
Kit Kat baked is unofficial for the 802
Gummy Rom is not available for the 802
Btw:
1. root
2. TWRP
3. CM11/ Pacman/Paradroid ?

Root and TWRP are for sure available. Did you check the original android development section for roms? Probably still not as many as for the N5. I never heard of Gummy rom, but the others I have.

as for threads this one is aosp only http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/orig-development and as long as it says d802 in it you will be able to flash also d802 specific thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/development-d802
as for development and different models each devise is different from there sources to their networks so each has to be developed to differently unlike the nexus which is a one for all device also pretty much all the features which are for stock g2 have been ported over and battery life is amazing on both stock and aosp especially compared to the n5

ROM suggestion for LG G2 (D802)

Hi, first of all, im getting my phone tomorrow so I havnt tried any ROMs yet. But I am familiar to the whole xda thing thanks to my Galaxy S2. I hope someone can help out
Im looking for a custom ROM that meets the following needs (D802 model):
- great battery life!
- lightweight (dont want it to take too much space since I have the 16GB variant)
- pure performance over looks
- stable, no bugs.
Thats pretty much it, which ROM would u guys think would suit me the best? Oh, and one more question. Whats the difference between "G2 Android Development" and "G2 Android Development (D802)" what goes under the first category then? I have the D802 (Europe) model, so I should be looking under D802 right?
I'll be getting the G2 in a few days too and I will try CM12 and see what LG features are missing and can i live without them.
With my experience with the G2 and some of flashing roms...I advise you to do the following: Get twrp recovery and flash CM12...the LG FlashTool that I used to flash it's a horrific little program...always breaking down! I have now 5.0.2 but if I knew I would get twrp recovery and flashed CM12...
It's an excelent ROM and it's so much easy to flash updates or other roms also...
Thanks for the replies. Can you link me the CM12 rom for D802 model, i couldnt find it myself for some reason.
e: found the CM12 ROM, but it appears that its not bug free?
XenonHD looks very promising, has anyone tried it?

If you want the best battery life use stock 20H.
Its lightweight too, if you purge the unneeded apps.
Its fast, if you dont use stock launcher.
Stable and no bugs.
With root, twrp, xdabbeb camera, adblock, xposed modules and works like a charm, its the best for this device.
Lollipop has some bugs, CM12 a lot of them in daily use.
But if you want more try MIUI V6 by gtbluesky. I love it.
Knife.mstr , thanks for the reply!
What about this one. This seems to be stock 4.4.2 but with bloatware already removed. What do you think of this ROM?
About MIUI...I have to admit, it looks really damn good but for some reason I am afraid to try it How does MIUI effect battery, performance (is it fluid), bugs and so on?

I didnt try it, but can be good.
MIUI 's performance is great. Battery is between stock 20h and 30b. Worst as kitkat but better than stock lollipop. (everything is upon usage)
Only few bugs, like music player drains battery a bit (can be freeze), not every xposed modul can be used.
For me the mipop was hard to use at first, but i liked it. (and can be turned off if you not)
If you run into install bugs, like no sensor or bt or wifi, just return to stock, then reinstall it.
Sometimes 4G dosnt work after update, in this case you need to set in hidden menu *#*#4636#*#* to another network, than return to default, thats fix it.
If you use titanium backup, you can freeze unneded miui apps, like video, or market but use the fun features like deny apps to reach your contacts.

A few thing about threads like this:
These turn into flame wars. Everybody feels their rom is best and will meet your criteria.
Have you searched?
Have you read the features of many different choices?
Have you done your own research on your device?
So here/s the suggestion. read, read, read and then read some more.

Really? Well you should know better than to create such a thread.
Now go out and learn about your new device, as this thread is now closed.

Best [STABLE] Custom ROM I can put on a VS980 VERIZON G2 24a on stock 4.4.2 with TWRP

LG Volt was my first obsession, I moved to this G2 {unlocked verizon varient} with 4.4.2 stock 24a, I dont want to brick this, but im looking for a Stable ROM, where everything works, Id prefer one tweaked for speed and performance, but want my stock LG apps if possible, and wanting a different look....
I know I may not get all of these together, but can someone tell me what i can use and what i have to sacrifice / or gain from such??
Main goal is proper COMPATIBILITY and STABILITY for the most parts.....
Thanks

ATTN: Custom ROM users; Opinions and Recommendations\Reviews wanted for: BEST G2 ROM!

Im on Stock Firmware: 4.4.2 on my LG G2 Verizon (VS98024A). Ive been doing alot of browsing on Custom Rom's and I want to hear some opinions. My question is Whats the BEST and most Stable ROM out there today? I was never a HUGE fan of Lollipop, but im not against it; and Cyanogenmod was never my "Favorite" custom ROM, But again; not against it!
I see ALOT of ROM's by Cloudyfa for 4.4 KitKat like CloudyFlex 2.8, CloudyG2 2.2, CloudyPro II 2.3 and I wonder whats the real differences between them all [REALLY?] and also LP 5.1 Roms like Cloudyfa's CloudyG2 3.3 and the comparions between that and the KK Versions with [PORT] like OptimusG3 Rom V1.5 and the OptimusPro Rom V4.5? and You cant forget Cyanogen Mod with KK and LP Roms as well, even 6.x MM.
Not to Mention ALL the others like Pac Rom, Slim Rom, Devient, and ect ect so on!
So what are the major categorys and differences besides the obvious of Andrioid Versions; What are the Kernels like? What makes one ROM (in your specific) better then others?
I See - A LOT- of people who are new to the G2 like myself; alittle late in the game just due to the fact the phone; "Out Of the Box" is still an AMAZING phone; and everyone who didnt follow these ROM's as they were in the making; seem to be out of the loop and not cought up, and not many replys to them asking. I was hoping I could start a thread that could help people and answer some of the multiple repeat questions and help give some people some insight on this topic!
Im inviting EVERYONE who ever ran a ROM other then STOCK to chime in and spread what you know! Thanks!!
if you dont know the difference between cloudy's rom then you should unroot your device because sooner or later you will brick it
I don't know why but I kept running into lag with the stock ROM on my D800 after a couple of months of use. Eventually, I became annoyed and installed this stripped D800 ROM, and never looked back. It's very fast and lightweight giving all stock functionality, without the bloat of dozens installed and running bloatware apps. Rather unfortunately, there is only the d800 version. Perhaps, such ROMs exist for other G2 editions?
Robles.... ROM's are very personal girlfriends of our phones and us users. Your likes might aggravate me and viceversa. Cloudy offers cleaned up variations of stock OS, and then you have CM-based roms (bliss pop, resurrection, etc). The best rom? Only you can answer that. You're asking a very annoying question even though this community is very helpful. Ask a waiter what they recommend, and what should their answer be? "it depends what you're in the mood for?" Right? How does he/she know what we like? Your question is similar, and has been asked too many times. As helpful as xda is, we all appreciate that a person investigates BEFORE asking. Learn or try, and then ask.
Go on the threads and read and read comments and posts, and slowly your gut will tell you to try a rom or not. As long as you make backups with twrp, you can always return to safety with what you had.
I'm on Slimsaber LP rom, and the battery life is amazing for a daily driver. There's a start, read, read more, and good luck.

Best ROM to make my G2 great again.

I've had my G2 for almost 2 years now, been on default KitKat the whole time with no problems but I've started to notice more and more lag as of late. So before I decide to just sell this phone and get a new one I thought why not try and give it a second life so to speak by rooting it and trying out a ROM. Thing is I'm not at all familiar wth ROMs and I've never rooted a phone in my life, so I'm coming to you good people to ask what in your opinion the best ROM for the G2 D802 is in terms of : Near stock experience, performance, battery life and to a lesser extent camera. I'd also like some comprehensive tutorials on how to SAFELY root and flash a ROM.
Thank you.
OptimusG3. Best there is.
for lollipop depens on your variant id say icex rom.
Stock 30h from somboons + Dorimanx kernel will respawn your G2.
Thanks for the input so far guys, what about Dirty Unicorns,CM or Cloudy G2? These seem to be the most popular ones judging by the number of answers on their respective threads, Any experiences?
I have the D802 16gb version btw.
