HTC One M8 H/K edition - One (M8) General

HTC officially announced the H/K edition of the wonderful M8.

IMO that gold and black is ugly but like I said before exclusives kill companies and pissed off the loyal customers.

at the worst it looks like the clarifi tech could be extracted and baked into ROMs :fingers-crossed:
seems like it's the exact same phone from a hardware perspective, except for the color option. i probably would not have gotten it anyway

there is a DAC change stated there, alongside the clarifi tech app. Hopefully it is only software and not hardware as well.
However, I absolutely dig the colour combination. Also the H/K headphones are infinitely superior the ones provided in the box, and the Onyx speakers for $99 is just a giveaway...

That is effin sexy
HTC UltimEight ?

They mention that there is a 24bit 192kHz DAC in the Harmon Kardon edition but isn't this also present in the standard m8 too? I've not been able to find this out since having my One.

The engadget article seems to indicate it's all software.

Yeah but later on they say "The tweaked M8 can also play 24-bit, 192kHz lossless .FLAC files" insinuating that the regular one can't.

Asside from a lack of player, I don't think there's anything stopping the M8 from playing flac files now. Likely the requisite player will be included with the HK edition.

I got mines enabled in default xml now I will watch everyone ***** about not having it on their phone. If u want it get Sprint lol

So kinda on the fence with this look . . .I'm only gonna really be slightly jealous when they bring a all black version out . . .apart from that is this all software and could end up being ported to regular M8's ???

Bro, next time just post with facts (reference what you are talking about, what steps you followed & where you found them) so people understand what you are talking about. You mention an xml that is part of a different thread, so some people here will not know what you're talking about.

STEPS TO ENABLE HARMAN AND MUSIC CHANNEL AND DISABLE BOOMSOUND
1. Using a root browser, find: /system/customize/ACC/Default.xml
2. Open it with a text editor.
3. Under <app name=”Android Multimedia”>, find the bold line below and change it from false to true
<app name="Android_Multimedia">

6

7

10

5

false

false

false

true

false

true

false

false

false

false

false

1

4. While you’re in there, go to the bottom of the file, and find this line to disable Boomsound so it doesn’t compete with Harman. Change true to false.

false

5. Eight lines below that, you can enable Music Channel if you want (not necessary, and by some accounts, not fully functional), by changing false to true.

true

Save the changes, exit the file, and reboot, Then check your system settings again to see Harman (and Music Channel if you enabled that).

Doubt it. They might have to change the user manual if they do upgrade to the TW 3.0 and that takes time to publish.
However, Samsung/Sprint's user manual are not thorough. So they could purposely leave out these additional "features" and put them on an updated PDF file user manual on their website.

nope. it is 2.5. the app dock at the bottom cannot be changed. home screen cannot be moved or removed. music is similar to the stock android player which is very basic. no equalizer in the music player. it is definitely not 3.0. not sure y they did not add all those features. i dont understand why it costs $250 as the only extra thing is the keyboard, led flash and vga cam. rest all features are either similar or lesser than what is provided in captivate and vibrant which are available on amazon now for $49 and $0.01 respectively. $250 is simply ridiculous.

Also your forgetting the multicolor notification light, and once again AMAZON is selling those other phones for $49.99 and $.01. What do you think amazon will sell the EPIC 4G for? I guarantee you it won't be $250 unless the phone is consistently sold out. Wait til a month after the epic 4g has been out like how the vibrant and captivate have been and then see what it is going for on amazon. If I go to the carrier websites they still want $200 for the phones. You are being completely unfair in your comparisons.

I would think it's a matter of both Sprint and Samsung deciding the specs. The reasons for axing it could come down to cost of development, bugs, etc., too.
IIRC, there was a case of a phone sharing some of the same hardware as the N1; the N1 had FM radio and the other did not. Modders found that they had the chipset for radio and were able to add it. Similar events have happened with phones that are wireless N capable but were not released with software that enabled it.
Either way, I'm pretty confident modders will get FM radio working on the Epic.

Interesting video camera hack from Droid X

I think this might also work for the EVO, but I just don't have time yet to try it. I may get around to it, but wanted to share. You can basically tweak to get better quality videos from the camcorder app:

It's totally OK. It's your hard earned money and you have the total control over it's usage. I shared my work in both free and paid forms so that users can test and then only buy if they want to.
I too don't buy apps that often but if a paid app is useful then I wouldn't think twice.
I myself like the stock Sony look but that doesn't means that we shouldn't try new things.
For the note, I have root but not patched services.jar or superusermod but theme works.
Yet it has been previously reported that some themes fail to work that's why I wrote that.

Honestly your price tag is way steap. No offense and you are allowed to charge whatever you want but may I suggest coming down on the price a bit. Notice anyone else selling xperia themes here on xda? Not saying you shouldn't be selling it but I'm pretty sure it's the reason you're getting so much negativity.
Good luck with the theme. It looks promising.

Thank you for your suggestions.
You see the negativity is not due to the price but differences in thinking.
I provided a free version with adequate theming if not much.
I linked to my guide and xposed module if someone wants to make his/her own theme or try before buying.
I am not forcing anyone to buy my theme.
They want 100% of everything at a little or no cost but as a user everyone needs to understand that that's not possible.
I am trying my best to provide the community with good content.
For that am charging a small amount which gives me boost to work better.
I don't work alone. We are a team. I will discuss with my team members for the price.
Once again thanks for your suggestions.
I truly appreciate your help.

Points taken. I definitely understand what you mean about the 100% of everything at no cost. I do appreciate your work though. I really like your Android L theme that you made, I'm rocking that one now on my ZU.
Anyways I do look forward to see how this theme will progress. I do have one request; and that is to not keep the Free version too far behind the paid version. I have seen so many Devs that provide a Free version to their Themes and don't update them. Maybe it's a time strain, I don't know but it would be nice to keep them maybe 1 version apart and that should spark the interests for trials to become buyers.
Cheers

Ya actually it's a time strain to provide support for 2 versions at the same time and as a Dev I need to keep the paid version updated for showing Thankfulness to all those bought the theme.
But that certainly dose not means that I will never update the free version.
Right now I am trying to add Boot animation changer to Xperia Themes[Only Paid for now] as one can with CM11 themes. Taking backup of original one works. Moving bootanimation.zip from Theme App to sd-card works too. Now I need to figure out how to apply the theme bootanimation.zip. I tried 3 different methods but all failed.

Awesome. When you say it's failing to apply, do you mean moving the animation from the sdcard to the media folder?

Yup that's what I exactly mean.
As Sony didn't added direct support for this in Xperia Themes, I searched for workarounds.
Do you have any idea of moving it to Media folder from sd card?

Seeing that it's failing I have a feeling it has to do with mounting and setting permissions. I am in no way a coder/dev of anything, but is there a way for you to add a command string to have the xperia themer(when applying the theme), send a command to a root browser program to do the copying and setting of permissions for you? Kind of how Tasker works.

Did I said that the theme is completed?
It's just the initial version and you are complaining about absence of assets.
If you had ever tried to make Xperia™ Theme then you will understand why Switches are absent.
Read the quote above.

That theme making part was not for you.. @beniamin24 Sorry, it was actually for you but I didn't meant to offend you. I didn't took it hard either. Actually I should say thank you. These comments help me make my works even better.
