Hey, I was wondering if there was a way to remove the "Verizon Wireless" marquee from the GS5 lock screen (to the left of the Home button). I'm assuming root is required, but not sure and I didn't see an option in the lock screen settings. Thanks.
Am curious to know this too.

Try this, settings->lockscreen->additional information and make sure it is set to off.

Thanks for the suggestion, but no luck. It would be awesome to remove or edit, but I have my doubts on accessing it.

Thanks for your help. Maybe you can ask a moderator to move this question to the proper place.
Getting root and full access may be the only way to modify things like this. People that want stuff like this, go donate in the bounty thread and help us enable control of things like you're asking about.

I noticed within CWM that there's an option to Enable/Disable Puzzle Lockscreen hidden in the Advanced menu. Would this allow me to disable the lockscreen so I have no lockscreen at all? Or is this used for those using AOSP so they can switch between the two?
Regardless, I'm looking for a way to disable my lockscreen entirely. Any solutions?
Thanks!

There's a thread in development section of this device that has good instructions
Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
If you're referring to the thread I think you are, that does not help me.
The only thread concerning disabling the puzzle lock provides a method that will also remove the pop-up dialog when holding down the power key. My only concern is removing the puzzle lock. I don't want to change how the phone powers down.
I read a few of the threads in the dev section that I thought might exlpain the CWM feature I'm asking about. None of them have addressed it. Hence why I'm asking people who have the same phone as me.

Really? I'm on the VooDoo lagfix version, whatever post I used to get to EC09 had this version up so I assumed all of us here had the same version. I tried it and it did absolutely nothing, so I'm guessing there's something about the Continuum that keeps it from working (the ticker, perhaps?).

Possibly. That's the reason apps like no lock don't really work.

Hi all,
I would like to ask if any of you have this same thing.
I have tried to disable all of the smart stay / smart scroll feature of the phone, yet I still see the 'eye' icon in notification which indicated that the feature is still on. Is it just me or you guys have the same thing?
I already tried to turn off the phone, remove the battery, turn on again, it still there.
I don't want to hard reset yet, as maybe something else I could do, or maybe it is supposed to always stay there.
Thank you.
I9505.
On this phone the eye icon is always there but since no active - it is still dimmed. no problems all.

Hi,
If you go to settings/my device/smart screen, and uncheck everything, the eye in the notification bar disappears.

Hi, no luck. I try that as soon as you inform me. But it still there. Any other suggestion? May I know you using I9505 or I9500? Perhaps different built?
Thanks

Hello,
My S4s (i9500) screen keeps coming on when it reaches full charge, with a notification to unplug my charger. This wakes me up in the middle of the night, I'd like the phone to remain face up during the night...is there any way to stop this from happening?
turn your phone face down?

Thanks, need an answer to my actual question though, about how to disable the screen turning on when this notification happens.

You'll have to wait for a mod. There is no stock way to do that.

1.Head into the Settings menu. Samsung's done things a little differently and changed the way the settings menu looks, so you'll need to hit the "More" tab, and then get into the Software information.
2.Look for "About device" at the bottom. Tap it.
3.Hop on down to the build number, and tap it seven times. One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Six. You'll get a little prompt saying you're about to unlock the developer settings. Hit that button one final time -- seven! -- and they're unlocked.
Now you've got developer settings on the Galaxy S4.

Hmm this is a pretty good workaround, the screen still comes on but turns off on it's own and pretty quick. Thank you.
Guess I'll have to wait for a mod for the screen not to come on at all or to disable the beyond useless notification altogether.
If you have root, grab es file manager or root explorer or something and go to system/media/ui/ and delete whatever sounds you want deleted. Make sure to back them up if you want them back.

Is there any way I can enable the on-screen buttons on the stock GS4 ROM. I'm trying to reduce the usage of the home button because I'm scared it might break/stop working anytime :/ The tutorial in the dev section doesnt seem to apply for me.

I think this is non sense. You will loose a part of screen for the on screen buttons. The home button will not break/stop working. You don't need to worry about this. And in the worst case if this will ever happen you can bring it back for free repair or replace it yourself (very cheap).
Personally i highly doubt that something like this will happen.

You can try downloading an app called EasyTouch, that wont take screen space. Its similar to the accesibility mode on the iphone.

You don't even need that, as this is built in, just look in the accessibility settings.
But... You can always do that IF the button fails. For now, don't worry about the hypothetical failure you may experience one day, just use the hard button

Wow did know it was there! I'll stick to the app as is more customizable. But thanks for letting us know
Not making sense my title. My friend just bought a GS5 for AT&T.. I have mine for T-mobile. He swiped his fingerprint to unlock his phone, then like 5 minutes later I picked it up to play with it, turned it on thinking I would need his finger print, but i didn't.. Just swiped to unlock.
He said he forgot where the setting is, but he doesn't have to swipe his finger every time the screen is off.. I do. and its kind of annoying.
Where is this setting pleasee???
I would imagine that he doesn't have the setting to lock automatically when he hits the power button selected.
Sent from my SM-G900V using xda app-developers app
ok here is the deal. I was able to find where I can have my phone lock with the finger printer after xx amount of time ( I set mine for 30 minutes ) but!!!!! What he has.. When he turns his display off and back on, he has to swipe to open it. Like a typical unlock, after 30 minutes though, his will require a finger print.
now with mine, after I finger print it, I turn the display back on and its just ON. I don't like that because of butt dialing or any other issues. I want to be able to swipe to open, after 30 minutes finger print.
We played with his today trying to find where he made those settings and he can't find it now.
ARGGG!! this is so annoying, lol
COME ON!!! Is everyone confused as well?? Are we all in the twilightzone?
lol ttt
really? no one knows the answer to this?

WRONG!
Anyone else?
look.. It's this easy.
On his GS5. when he powers off his screen with the sleep button, and turns it right back on, he has to swipe to unlock. But every 30 minutes, he has to use his finger print.
Get it?? so if I'm driving home from work and unlock my phone 3-7 times, I don't want to have to use a finger print to do it, but I do want to swipe to unlock.
but every 30 minutes of inactive use, it will automatically lock to a finger print.
His is set this way, how is this done!

I realize this is annoying to you but your response to someone trying to help you was rude.
I also don't see anywhere other than the lock screen settings to manage your security settings. Mine also works like your friends, seemingly by default. The only thing I can suggest is to change the security to swipe and then back to fingerprint. Maybe it's some kind of glitch you found.

It's a forum, it's read differently to some people, it wasn't meant as rude. Although the reply was extremely basic, I know how to get into my security settings.
What I'm asking seems harder to find then a noob trying to root his phone. It is frustrating. It's a basic feature and I'd love to have it
Hello,
Go to lockscreen setting and set the lock automatically time to 30 mins. Also you will find an iption below stating lock instantly with power button, disable that option and you are done. Your phone will lock to fingerprint oly after 30 minutes of inactivity

Still not helping.. Again...
When I shut my screen off with the power button and turn it back on, it just turns on without any swiping needed. After 30 minutes finger print is needed.. But I want to have to swipe to unlock my phone, finger print within 30 minutes!!

This is how I feel right now
I'm on XDA forums, not some kiddy site and we can't figure this out.
someone mentioned it was a bug, maybe that is true? But I would love to see if someone can confirm this. Is it a bug. Is it simply NOT possible?
Do people understand what I'm saying?
It's not an app. He literally just bought the phone that day! He still talks about it with me all the time. I laugh at how the genius's here can't figure this thing out.
I mean.. Maybe I start a thread, "What do you use to unlock your phone"
I can't see people using fingerprint EVERYTIME to just open the phone for a second. It takes too long.
I think most people just don't even use the fingerprint option and thats why this thread is lacking any replies.
I use fingeprint all the time. I have looked at all my settings and cant find any options to set swipe as temporary lock screen.
I wish I could as I would like that option too. However I dont think that fingerprint takes too long. I just swipe my thomb and the phone opens.
Your problem sounds like something is preventing the phone from even locking. I had a similar issue on my Galaxy S4. There's an app called Swann View Plus that I would use for viewing our cameras at work. For some reason, whenever I opened it, clicked back to home, and then locked the screen, when I woke up the phone I would not have to swipe to unlock, it would just be there at the home screen.
Now I have the same app on my Galaxy S5 and it doesn't do that, however I would look towards some kind of app causing this issue. Wipe your device to factory and check to see if it is still doing the same thing as it is now, or if it does as your friend's does which is also what mine does.
