Email in Ultra power saving mode? - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a way to add gmail, stock email, or some other email app in Ultra power saving mode?
I can use Internet app to access mail over web, but I'd like to use real mail client.
Thanks.

Disabling gmail service

I've registered my gmail account with the gmail application but was wondering how I would go about dissociating my account from the app. Any help would be appreciated.
Also, what is the best way to get real push gmail/hotmail? What are the settings I should be using? Is it better to use the default android email application for push email or the gmail app?
Thanks!
try settings/applications/manage aplications/gmail clear cache

Q - Direct connect IM app

Hello friends,
Is there any app that would connect directly to gtalk, yahoo, msn servers and allow chats and other related functions. I don't like or want my passwords or chats to go through private servers.
Default gtalk client is no good for me.
Thanks.....

Would Nimbuzz work?
No. You need to register your account with them and give all your passwords.

How to turn off push for gmail accounts

I would like to change to for example 'every 15mins'. The 3 accounts all being pushed is taking its toll on my battery.

Ehhh... the whole idea of "push" is that new emails are pushed from the server. As opposed to your phone "pulling" them from said server. So no, you cannot. Even switching off sync will not impact your receiving emails on gmail.
However, there are apps out there (search for it) that will enable your data connection and/or sync function periodically. This one you can set for 15 mins, 1 hour, or whatever the app offers and you want.

I'm pretty sure if you disable gmail sync you don't get emails anymore through the stock gmail app at least.

Actually, you can switch off push, IF you start using the moto blur corporate email. Lookup the settings for active sync, it uses the microsoft exchange method for email access, and also syncs calendar and contacts. Once setup, open the account through messages, and turn off push. I did this, and my battery life tripled.

I am using the email client that came with the note, if you configure your email using imap, or lucky enough to have exchange then push will work, if you do pop3 then push won't work. I bought Kaiten which is the paid version of K9 pop3 is still timed and not pushed.

If you have Exchange then it will push...
Yes the native client supports servers that will do push (ie exchange).
Incidentally the mail client "Touchdown" ****s all over the native client (yes is does cost approx $20, I reckon its worth it.)

I have Exchange setup but push works for only few days and it stops for some reason

Just install the official Microsoft: Hotmail + Seven from the Play Store, free and configure it to push.
I always thought Gmail was push

it is.
Push on the native email client works but has this flaw: it will disable push when it is unable to connect to server. You need to manually load the app again to re-enable push.
This disabling might happen when travelling in train when you loose network momentarily, or when leaving one WLAN and connecting with another after a few minutes.

Ah...i use to wonder why sometime push is working and sometime not...i thought somewhere related to data connection but couldn't get the exact pattern. Thanks, This will surely help.
Any idea why I'm not able to see embedded images on native email client with exchange setup? It's showing only as attached files and image itself on email has little blue question mark

Ok thanks guys. Can you post me the steps to set up and hotmail account with push? I remember that i had my hotmail with push on SGS somehow. I just can't find the tutorial anymore.
I think you need to set the hotmail server to m.hotmail.com to get push to work.

Stock Email App

Is there any way to get it working? I don't want to be forced to use the GMAIL app for my other accounts.
You can find the POP and IMAP settings here.

I wonder if someone with an older gapps package can pull the apk that has it. I know some still use the other app for exchange.
