I just upgraded my HD2 from Gingerbread to Jellybean 4.2.2. So far everything works great except for my open/close menu.
Here is a youtube link of what I am dealing with:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pd0ucQyyMMM&feature=c4-overview&list=UUL-MgWl4c3Iv-H1iy3YTbLA
I've installed
2.6.32_tytung_jellybean_r2
US T-mobile HD2
I've rebooted the phone many times and even tried reinstalling the ROM and I still have it.
If anyone knows how to fix this, please let me know.
Thanks.
so this is about after clicking on menu button, it launches recent apps? or about the graphics glitches?
anyway, are you using the latest version of the rom?

This is about the graphics glitches. I have it so that when I hold down my menu button it takes me to the open/close menu. I have the latest version. I just checked for an update this morning and there was none.
try to remove the live wallpaper, and check force gpu drawing and similar settings in developer options and try.

Hey! Removing the live wallpaper did the trick. I don't know where to find the developer options (in settings?) but if I check the force gpu drawing like you suggested do you think that I will be able to use live wallpaper again?

Hmm, I don't see the option in the settings. Is there another way to get there?
settings, about, tap build number 7 times and developer options should appear

Thanks! I now have developer options! I kept trying different things and finally found that disabling HW overlays fixed it! I hope that whatever that means doesn't screw up something else.
Hey, you seem to know a lot. I was also wondering if you know how to keep auto update on for the android play store but disable it for certain apps. My wife really does not like the new update to the google navigation/maops on her stock GS3 and prefers the old. I uninstalled the update to set it back but I didn't want to turn off her auto update because I know that she will never update her apps manually. Any suggestions?
@jimvsmij sorry, i have no idea about that

Open the Play Store > Go into the app you want to disable auto-update for > hit the menu button > You should find "Auto-update", uncheck it.
Other apps will update normally while this one won't.

I saw that option earlier but I thought that unchecking the auto-update would apply to all the apps.
Thanks!

Do you have something enabled in the accessibility settings? If you have things like light flow or other stuff enabled it messes with the talk back feature and automatically enables it. The only way to stop it is to freeze it or disable the other thing.

Its usually caused by talkback in accessibility. Talkback can also be triggered by some apps that access notifications like lightflow or floating notifications.
Theres a bug with Talk balk.. try disable then enable again

thanks guys, enabling then disabling fixed it now
I had the same issue, but turning off / on TalkBack didn't resolve it for me.
What worked was turning off a different app (Dashlane) that had Accessibility on....so now I have no apps with Accesibility on, and the browser stopped talking to me.
I remember my S3 had a similar issue with TalkBack talking when I had LightFlow accessibility on.
I'm trying to follow the tip to fully turn off "My Magazine" other users here and on the web have been having success but it is not working for me.
When I go to the My Magazine app on my Galaxy S5 "Turn Off" is grayed out and not able to be selected. I have turned it off from the home screen (swiping left doesn't bring it up anymore) but the app still runs because if I "Force Stop" it within 10 minutes or so "Force Stop" is available again.
Any ideas? I have been all over the web an everyone seems to find "Turn Off" (or Disable, depending on region) available but it is not for me.
If you turned it off it should turned off. Why you use force stop even when apps is turned off???

If it's greyed out that suggests that it is in use or another app is interferring. Try disabling it immediately after rebooting your phone. Other ideas.. try force stop of any magazine reading apps or anything else that you think might interfere, then force stop my magazine. Clear the my magazine cache and data from the applications manager screen, restart my magazine, then check the disable option again.
Failing that, see if restoring a backup will fix the anomaly. If you are rooted, then you have great options including freezing it with Greenify or Titanium Backup Pro. Simply removing the app or even moving to a custom ROM that doesn't have it.
.
I can confirm this same issue on my unrooted, stock S5. My Magazine's "turn off" is grayed-out.

I don't know about anyone else, but this is my first MIUI phone.
I thought it would be useful to start a thread regarding MIUI notes/tips/etc that are specific to MIUI.
The first big one of course - how to fix push notifications:
http://www.forbes.com/sites/bensin/...ions-on-xiaomis-miui-8-for-real/#11f834174e1b
I was about to start this very thread
I found a cool feature
You can select several photos for deleting by simply gliding your fingers over the photos
Another cool feature
You can orient that device do that it's upside
The top bezel-less becomes downwards.
The phone is also programmed to rotate it to the standard orientation during a phone call because of Mic location.
One thing I quite like is how specific WIFI connects can be disabled without having to remove them.
Our work WIFI blocks certain things, so it's nice to be able to disable it but not have
to totally remove it (and then reenter all the passwords when I re-enter it).

For each WIFI connection, there is a little > to the right of it.
If you touch that you go into another menu, and one option is 'auto connect on/off'.
Turning off autoconnect helps in situations where there are multiple WIFI signals, but you only want it autoconnecting to a specific one.

Expand Notifications
2 finger swipe on notifications displays their details (or what is called Peek)

Thanks for clarifying.
What if I'm in the range of two networks that I've saved the passwords for.
Which does the mi mix connect to when I enter range?
Looks like the last one I've connected to.

That's actually a primitive way of doing it.
Samsung did it better by letting you 'peek' one-handedly with a simple swipe down of the notification.
With mi mix, I have to use two hands. I can do it with one hand but it's tough.

And just found out, we can't "swipe away" the notifications from the lockscreen directly. Need to pull down the shade and clear from there. Would this not be considered a stupid decision?!

Perhaps there's a solution if you root/install Xposed & a module is available for lockscreen options.
I'm rooted, but, haven't used Xposed in ages, considering trying it again......
On Samsung devices,(non-root) Ad Blocking apps have a persistent notification on the lockscreen that cannot be swiped away,.The only remedy for this was to turn off the ad blocking.

I followed all the steps.
I understood that there are several instances of settings and installed apps.
I went through all of them but still could not disable or uninstall pre-loaded apps like Mi Credit, Mi Cloud and all those Mi nonsense apps.

Those are uninstallable I guess (as Mi earns from these apps and not selling the phone), few rubbish were uninstalled using this method.
I should be able to disable them though
Apparently not
Some more MIUI notes:
menu + volume down = screenshot
hardware test: dial *#*#6484#*#*
More phone info: dial *#*#4636#*#*
There is a toggle to disable the navigation buttons (double tap them to re-enable)
handy if you keep accidentally hitting them.
in 'buttons' can auto disable for any particular app (games)
In accessibility there is a magnification mode - triple tap to allow/disable zooming of screen. (EDIT: it's bugged - it isn't supposed to trigger during keyboard typing, but it does, effectively making it useless)
wake with volume buttons is in lockscreen menu, not "button"
There are some apps that just won't stay uninstalled. Anyone got idea how to remove them? PPTV for example

Needs to be rooted to remove system app
My NFC toggle on the pull down menu is permanently disabled, and I'm not sure how. When I search NFC, and look at the app, the disable icon can't be pressed and it says the app is disabled.
However when I go to connections and choose NFC I am able to turn it on.
I don't think it's actually on though, because as I tap my phone to my SONY headphones nothing happens. I believe this is because the toggle switch is permanently disabled.
I have package disabler pro, and I removed all the apps that were disabled so everything is enabled now.
I restarted the device multiple times, but nothing works.
Not sure what is going on, but I really want to be able to connect to my headphones with NFC, bluetooth works, but it is the NFC I'm looking for.
Can someone please tell me how I can reenable it (so that I can press the button on the pull down menu)?
Thanks!
Bump! Can anyone help with this? I really don't want to factory reset my phone.
Your only option is FACTORY RESET
Thank I know that's an option. Anyone else seen this happen or know how to resolve it?
So no one else has had a similar situation to this, or knows what to do?

Long shot here, try taking the NFC button out of the drop down (long press it and move it up and out). Restart your phone, open up the drop down and put the button back in the same way. Just thinking out loud.
Ok so this is really weird. The button can't be found in the drawer anymore. It's not in my active buttons it the ones I can add. So odd.

When you go to pull down the drawer tap the 3 dots upper right and try button order or button reset to see if it come backj.
It's not there.

Have you installed any apps recently, since it started?
There could be an app that's put in place some kind of security policy that's blocked it. Like a work app?
EG: https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Galaxy-S-Phones/Galaxy-S7-NFC-toggle-switch-disabled/td-p/79071
Or you also mention Package Disabler. Did it start happening after you started disabling packages?
hmm this is weird.. im also using package disabler pro and never had this issue. you could try one thing - using package disabler, disable all NFC services and then re-enable again - see if that helps
