Hello friends!
I am presently on a rooted Android 4.4.2 with Franco.kernel #16.
I have been trying to connect my Macromax MMX353G dongle to my Nexus 10 via PPP widget but it says no driver. Is there a way to connect my present dongle and where can I get the drivers for this dongle and whats the procedure to install them on Nexus 10?
Thank you.

Hello guys...i am currently running JB 4.2.1(not rooted) and i am experiencing problems with my ps3 controller via otg.when i plug the controller my nexus 7 does not detect it....btw my OTG is working normally with mouses,flashdrives...etc.can this be solved cause i used my controller perfectly on JB 4.1.2
Secondly i am thinking about rooting my nexus 7 with wugfresh toolkit...will i still be able to receive OTA updates from google?and can anyone explain to me in details about "CUSTOM RECOVERY" , "TWRP" and stuffs...its been 3 months since i moved to android,so am kinda new here.
P.S : the reason i am going to root my device is because i need to sideload heavy games from usb drive, use sixaxis, stickmount,Gamegurdian, TB backup...etc
Plz rate my english ( i myself dont know if my english is bad or not)

1. Don't know
2. if you dont install custom rom i think you'll still recieve,
custom recovery is used to flash rom/kernel/mods etc
twrp is a type of custom recovery
Should i check this box while rooting????
I wont be flashing roms, kernels etc
No need bro

Ok, So i got my 3G version! rooted and had busybox installed! everything else is stock!
I can't connect my USB flash (Fat 32) with is used to work on my Galaxy Nexus before, simply nothing happens when i connect it!
I tried installing Stick-mount and other OTG Helper but nothing worked! changing the cable(OTG) didn't help either!
Is this a common issue on this 4.2.1 specific version ?
anybody can confirm that it works or not?
Any Ideas?
Thanks in advance!
OTG is working fine on my Nexus 7 wifi running paranoid android 2.99
I'm on 4.2.1 and can say otg working good. Not only flash drive, i can connect to my logitech wireless gamepad, my dslr, and mw modem.

Thanks all for replying.
@ucubz
Are you on STOCK rom?
Is there any app installed that allows you to use the OTG functionality or is it out of the box feature on 4.2.1?
I can't figure out what makes my nexus 7 3G Un-OTG-able!
Download StickMount from the Playstore.
Works verry nice!

Yes, right now I'm using stock with motley kernel. For mounting hdd or flash disk just download stick mount by chainfire. It will automatically mount your drive when you connect it.
As for logitech gamepad, its worked just fine, no need for additional apps.

i just flashed SmoothROM (4.2.1) the other day, and my OTG cable wasn't working until i installed StickMount. thanks!
Stock rom, stock kernel, rooted, OTG-usb cable, stickmount. Works great for read/write access and streaming media from external storage. Not all OTG-usb cables work. Try and find another or try your cable with another otg supported device.
Thank you guys! i guess I'll flash a custom kernel !!!
If it doesn't work for you on the stock kernel, I don't think installing a custom kernel will make any difference. Many, many people use OTG successfully with the stock kernel, including me. Before you go that route, try plugging in a usb mouse to see if it works. If not, I would suspect the cable itself. Any option to try the cable on someone else's device? Is Stickmount in your list of root allowed apps in your Supersu or Superuser app? Are you using the latest Stickmount? Do you have USB debugging on and are you connecting as an MTP device?
Just recently bought a Asus Nexus 7 and I find it an awesome device.
Unfortunately, I was surprised to see there is no option to turn my device into a wifi hotspot
or to share my nexus internet through USB to other computers.
thus I am now looking for apps that can help me achieve this
and would greatly appreciate anyone who has any recommendation for me..
p.s :- I tried wifi Hotspot and Foxfi (free version for both) but I can get neither computers no other mobile phones
to connect to the wifi hotspot they created through my nexus
Thank you.
Easy tether will let you share the internet with a computer using usb.

Easy tether.. got it..will try it out...
anyone else knows of a good one to use to wifi hotspot instead of usb?
no other apps?
Barnacle? Open garden? Pdanet? Foxfi? Easy tether?
I'm sorry..
my nexus 7 is running stock ROM..
it seems that with stock, the wifi hotspot is "blocked" or crippled or whatever..
now wonder when I used wifi hotspot of Foxfi, other devices can see my wifi but unable to access it..
I may need to root my N7, but I have never done rooting before and is a bit apprehensive in doing so..
trying to look up the easiest to understand guide as to how to root my n7 now..
additional info :- I am running android 4.2.2 and my N& build is jdq39
if anyone can point me to a guide to root my N7 with a little more ease, please do..
Thanks..
ok, i just saw this thread..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2150661
can anyone help confirm that this root ROM has the function to let me wifi hotspot with my nexus 7?
Also, if I were to successfully root.. am I able to return this to stock ROM if ever I feel the Root not to my liking?
I have read posts related to attaching pendrive in nexus 7 w/o root. I have also read posts related to running usb dongle modem in nexus 7 with root by PPT Widget. Wanna know any way i can run any usb dongle modem in nexus 7 without rooting?
Thank You.
First, a question....
Is there any reason to not root?
Just wondering.
And to answer your question, I think it may not be possible, because some system files may have to be modified to install drivers/required files.
My opinion, feel free to prove me wrong.
Peace,
shandy1996

Hello,
I'm not sure it will help, but check this:
https://support.google.com/pixelphone/answer/7308447?hl=en
This part: Let your other devices find your phone's mobile connection
Should also work for the N6P...
Good luck...
I think you mean tethering. Not theatering.
Its probably not the 6p, I've used it and you have to setup then go into the settings for the connection
what i try till now is these probebly it will called mobile hotspot, these isn't found by other devices, so here i need to find where is the problems?

It's working, may it's the rom you're using.
I'm on dark rom, no issues to connect my Nexus 7.
Edit: if you don't want to change the rom, you can tether with bluetooth

If you root with magisk there's an tethering enabler module, I'm not sure if it's made for your issue, but u can try. Otherwise
as I told you dark rom runs fantastic. I'm running dark with ElementalX kernel a bit underclocked and DNA infected theme, rooted with magisk. Gives me a great performance/battery experience with my 6p. Everything works absolutely great. Give it a try, if everything else fails.
Hello
i did root with twrp + flashfire , the main thing i want is stock rom and root, so the suggestion isn't so good for me, need to fix these somehow or to know what cause it?
