It really is simple, you need MJ5 botloader (at least) in order to use ROMs greater or eqal than 4.3. With MJ5, you can flash older ROMs as well.
So just flash MJ5 with ODIN first. Any newer bootloader than MJ5 has KNOX. MJ5 is he last bootloader without KNOX (and compatible with 4.3 and 4.4)

How do i install this with odin over 4.0.3 xwlpg, i get fail after start. I have used odin many times before with fus stock images, but now it won't update. Should i use specific .pit, never needed one.
Using the single stock file from fus.

That's also my idea, never used it on the SGS2.
Still it doesn't flash. Just flashed XWLPI, that was no problem at all. Flashing this one just stops after:
<ID:0/004> Firmware update start..
<ID:0/004> boot.bin
<ID:0/004> NAND Write Start!!
and then a <FAIL> message and it stops updating
Same here!
for china
the bootloader of chinese rom is different, you must flash u1_chn_mapdata.pit、U1_bridge_bootloader_CHN_signing.tar first!
China I9100 is diffrent than International version of Samsung I9100

I flashed it and it was fine except for losing my google account and no option to restore it. Then I restored my Nandroid backup of XXLQ5 but now my phone doesn't show any signs of life, not even a charging animation. I assume I need to find a JTAG service but just in case, does anyone have a better option? It's a good thing that my S3 is on it's way.
Can u give link to the chinese .pit file and the bootloader pls

I did the same procedure restoring a CM9 Backup with CWM manager. Now my Galaxy S2 is dead. I'm waiting for tomorrow to do the JTAG procedure .
Now I know that I'm not alone with this problem. Be aware.
Update:
My Galaxy S2 is officialy dead... JTAG Failed to recover my s2 =( .... I hate this leaked Rom =(
Interesting, means the official 4.04 have the brick bug too. ( Chinese ROM is official)
Can anyone confirm? Or is it because nandroid restore was of that lq5.

i too bricked my galaxy s2 i9100, day before i had installed the I9100XXLQ5_I9100OXALQ5_OXA official leaked firmware from samfirmware then i found a deodexed XXLQ5_DEODEXED.zip on xda forum, i installed everything was running fine until i tried installing "Resurrection-remix_ics_V2.5.3_AOKP-B40-4.0.4.zip" via CWM, while flashing the Resurrection-remix_ics_V2.5.3_AOKP-B40-4.0.4.zip the whole process freezed, n after sometime my phone switched off automatically n didnt turned on, i think its dead now....
so i am not sure whether its because of the leaked firmware or for something else...

Yeah I did do that. No one actually explains what to download and how to use it. You would had thought that I didn't try. I did use odin and flashed cwm and expected it to work, guess what it didn't. Upon entering recovery a error popped out and I was welcomed by the samsung recovery page. Hence i'm here looking for a way to root and get superuser that actually works.

You see, there are very well explained and , yes, they worked!
Well I followed the guide posted here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2529064
Got myself a clockwork from here : http://www.filefactory.com/file/5wsoycfxn7i5/CWM_6.0.4.6_Non-Touch_GT-I9506.tar
Flashed it via odin. Was hoping that it would finally work, but bam. Got an error again.
Any help at this point would be appreciated.
Cheers.
You didnt flashed the right version, its 6.0.4.8, and you didnt unchecked auto reboot. So, you didnt do it how the guide says.
Hello
I'm searching for knox 0x0 root method.
So far I've trayed towelroot and flashing older kernel and then rooting with towelroot, but 4.4.2 is not booting on stock 4.3 kernel so I'm in dead end.
Any other methods?

Once updated to 4.4.2, you cannot downgrade to 4.3! You can only use Auto root from DeHwak thread. Towelroot doesnt work on 4.4.2 on i9506! There is no root option for i9506 without tripping knox!
Well, on some phones, you can downgrade easly. For example you can do it on s4 mini. It has 4.3 Brazilian firmware with new knox 2.0 bootloader.

Use autoroot from DeHawk post, He modified Chainfire autorrot to work on I9506. He also made it available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2597058 in the end of first Post.
This Autorrot will trigger knox flag (works on 4.4.2) but if you don't care about it, go ahead and you will be Rooted. Don't forget to give him a thanks

I am buying a new S4. Apparently it comes with 4.2x on it. So, should I root it from there or upgrade to 4.4.2 official? I was thinking if I did it from 4.2, I'd avoid the knox issue and then upgrade to a custom ROM later and still not have a knox problem.... or I am way off base?
Is there something new in root on 4.4.2 subject? I still want my knox status to be 0x0...

It is downloading... 552 MB
But first I had to install CWM Recovery and wipe data, partition cache and dalvik cache, than use ODIN to install the DBT firmware again and the recovery and root to be removed.
After that the software update started automatically, it's kind of slow..
Will get back soon when it's updated.
Can't wait for official ROM!!
The upgrade went smoothly... Finally was able to use the official KitKat for Galaxy S III LTE

Hi. I have recently updated my note 3 N9005 Lte from Kitkat 4.4.2 to Lollipoo and also updated the BL,CSC,CP AND PIT File. Now is it possible to downgrade it back to Kitkat firmware? N9005XX...B7 BTU version ?
It's pretty simple.
1. Do the factory reset
2.Install KK via odin
3. Enjoy your KK

I wouldn´t risk to do it like this. If you have updated the bootloader, I think you can´t just flash the KK via Odin. If you have updated the bootloader, there is no back to roll back. If not, you have still a chance.

do upgrade with odine?????
I tried downgrading using the Leaked Polish KitKat to no help.
First tried to downgrade using the original Australian one. It failed by Odin.
Then tried with a .PIT file and the corresponding Germany firmware, didnt work either. Phone wasnt even switching on, gave some error saying firmware update went wrong, connect to Kies... or something similar.
Just to see I reinstalled the Lollipop, It worked just fine.
Then saw about the Polish KitKat leak with all the BL/CSC/AP and all files, downloaded and tried.
For my joy, It installed just fine, but my joy ended when I booted into the OS, it was all buggy, network not working, constant app crashing, camera fail, and made me really scared when It showed that my IMEI number is NULL!! I thought Im so done....
Then tried the German KitKat with the Polish leak's Boot Loader (BL) file, it failed too.
Since I was so worried about the phone getting address-less (No IMEI, no other addresses) I tried reinstalling the Lollipop leak.
It worked again like a charm, and my IMEI n everything else is back.
So looks like Ill have to wait till we get an official Lollipop update, so I can get out of the leak.

Nice, how did you do this? It keeps failing for me...
Hello there,
I am currently found an interesting ROM in this forum called Phronesis Rom v3.0
(Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...om-phronesis-rom-v1-0-stable-feature-t3241910)
Currently I have an unrooted Note 3 with the Custom Recovery (TWRP). I know a root is required before flashing any custom ROMs. Before flashing this ROM, I have a few things that is not sure and want to confirm it...
Since I don't have permission to post a reply in that forum so I just post my questions here and hope someone can answer...
1. Since my Note 3 is different from the other countries (16GB version) while other countries have 32GB version, does this matter?
2. My current Baseband version is N9005ZSUGOK2. But I found the baseband version and kernel version in that custom ROM is different from mine (N9005XXUGBXXX) Can I flash this ROM into my Note 3? Will I brick my device if I'm doing so? (N9005ZSUG != N9005XXUGB)
<If the answer of question 2 is no, then skip the question 3>
3. Can I use the stock baseband version and stock kernel version (that is come from my region N9005ZSUG instead of using N9005XXUGB) after installed this custom ROM?
I hope someone can help me, thanks..
I also have the same problem

Thanks for the answer! But I'm just don't understand the concept between the Bootloader, Kernel, Baseband
1. Does Custom ROM brings with the Baseband? Can I use my original Baseband when using custom ROMs?
2. I have search some posts stated that the Kernel I've choose that need to be compatible with the that custom ROM. What will happen if I'm doing it wrong way? (Bootloop? Brick?... or anything esle)
3. Do I always need to upgrade to the latest bootloader?
Thanks again for helping. I'm really a noob..
