Camera shutter sound - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi! I really like the new camera on my s5 but I can't turn the shutter sound off. I sometimes take pictures in the bus from the outside landscape so its very annoying to have. Is there a way to turn this off without having to root the phone or using a 3th party app?

In camera app, tap settings, you should get all the icons such as picture size, burst shots, etc. It's a 4x4 row of settings. What isn't obvious is that this row will scroll, just scroll down and you'll get another 11 or so options, one of which is the shutter sound.

Must be carrier specific. Verizon does not have this toggle. The only way to turn off shutter sound is to turn your phone on vibrate or silent.

FWIW T-Mobile version has it.

My t-mobile doesn't have it

I don't have that setting on EE or Orange in UK England handset
sent by the technology & the power of the Samsung Galaxy S5 ? Via Tapatalk ?

My T-Mobile-branded S5 (germany) doesn't have it either. It works for me if I mute the whole phone (vibrate or mute) the shutter sound is off too.
If you have root, it shouldn't be a problem to just delete/rename the sound file, but I'm nor rooted (yet), so can't tell for sure.

Lower down the volume or put it in silence. On mine, I can't find way to turn it off.

I'm in the UK, if I were to buy a sim free S5 from a UK retailer is the option to mute the shutter sound available in the camera app settings? If not does muting the phone entirely mute the shutter sound?

you can also use wanam exposed module...

How do you mute ALL camera sounds, not just the shutter sound?

I've already muted all the touch sounds on my phone and also the shutter sound on my camera, but the apps still makes "woooosh" type sounds when I go into settings and things.

You mean in settings for Camera? When you click the gear icon and you get noises?
When I was on stock I usually just hit the power button, then click on Mute. It's annoying but it works.

That's dumb that we can't turn off the UI sounds in the stock camera!

Camera Shutter Sound

Searched the forum and didn't see anything, so sorry if this is a duplicate thread.
Now that we have root, is there a way that we can disable the camera shutter sound for when we do have our volume on? It's annoying that Verizon removed that option compared to other models. Thanks.
Yeah I did it on my phone. Download romtoolbox and go to root browser. Once there go to system folder, then csc folder, open up the features.xml file with RB editor. Once your there if you scroll down to the camera section you should see the camera shutter code. Change the "false" in the statement to "true" and there u go. Save it and reboot. Hope this helped

Worked perfectly (used Root Explorer). Thanks so much!

Also, if you used Wanam you can disable there as well.

EDIT: the icon to disable the sound is already enabled.. I just had to scroll down in the camera settings..
does this work with 4.4.4 ? I don't see a camera sound setting that is set to false. There is one, but it is already set to true.

[Q] Shutter Sound

Does anybody know of a way to switch off the camera shutter sound? It's really loud. I have the N910F / Vodafone / The Netherlands. There's no option in the camera settings. Mute the phone doesn't do the trick, and the Enforced Stream Silencer can't get it done either In Camera FV-5 it's possible but I'd like to use the options of the Samsung app.

This is always an issue with phones, as it's in part due to privacy laws that the option to turn off the sound is missing. Usually someone comes along with a MOD but I tend to root my phones so I all I do is delete or rename the sound files found in /system/media/audio/ui

Activate the SILENT MODE profile then you can take pictures without sound.

Thanks. I think I've used the wrong term. With 'Mute' I meant I set all the different volume controls to zero. Then it's in the Silent Mode, right?
T-Mobile version has a toggle in the camera app to turn off the shutter sound. On my device it was toggled off by default.

Yes I tried that but it doesn't work. A regional thing probably as apprentice mentioned. But I was hoping someone here would know a workaround

Touch Key Light On Duration

Hi
Can the touch key light on duration be changed to always on like I had before in my S5 ?
I cant find any setting for it anywhere.
I like it to be on when I'm using the phone but theres no option for it anymore ?
Thanks
I use galaxy button lights app. I think it was removed from settings with the s6. At least it was gone from mine on Tmobile.

Camera Shutter

Is there a way to disable the camera shutter sound?
I understand that you can do it in the notification settings - but it doesnt actually do it.
Is this a regional thing? because phones that are bought in Japan cannot be disabled however I bought it in Singapore .
Go to camera, open hamburger menu on the left, open settings on the right top, turn off shutter sound.... Voila

Yeah, it's a regional thing. OnePlus has put a toggle in the app, but in regions where it is not permitted to mute camera sounds, the toggle won't actually do anything. To work around this, I manually decompiled the OnePlus Camera app, muted the necessary sounds, and recompiled the app for my personal use. The sounds are muted by default (except the timer ones) and you can't enable them via the toggle also.
I'm attaching my modified version at the end of this post, if you want to give it a shot. Good luck!
Important info: You won't be able to install this alongside your existing OnePlus Camera app. So you'll need root for this. Also, in case you still hear sounds even after correctly replacing the original OnePlus Camera app, let me know.
