[Q] Sound/Headphone Mod Issue - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all! Thanks for any and all help!
Quick info: Stock ROM 4.4.2 via OTA (LS980ZVC), Rooted, Nova Launcher and Xposed Framework. I've tried flashing other ROMs and it just didn't work so I went back to stock.
I'm not too impressed with the speaker and headphone volume on my phone. I didn't buy the phone for the sound, though, so that's a good thing. However, an improvement would be nice!
I've tried both the sound mods below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2482750 - Root Explorer would not allow me to copy the file from my SD card to the proper location saying "copy failed!" each and every time.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2542398 - I flashed this and it soft bricked my phone. I got bootlooped because of it. Is there any particular reason, other than I just don't know how to flash right? (all kidding aside!)
Is there an easy way to get one of these two to work, or am I just stuck with the sound I have?
Again, thanks for any and all help, folks!
(I posted this in the Sprint G2 help thinking it was the general G2 help.. whoops... sorry for cross posting)

If it rooted, RE should work.
Make sure you check and change permission if needed.

RE works and I can navigate to the correct folder, as well as copy/paste the old file from /system/etc/snd_soc_msm to my SD card. Moving the file from the SD card, or copy and pasting, results in "Operation failed!" and no change. Permissions are good as far as I can see?

Try Root Browser instead.

Same as above, no dice.

Just as a heads up, I downloaded Viper4Android FX and XHiFi, and that worked the treat to get the sound muuuuuuch more clear and tolerable from Pandora. Night and day difference, no doubt... although Pandora's bitrate isn't high, it's 100x more tolerable now.

Using EVO keyboard with arrows on NON-EVO builds

Im sorry if this is the wrong section for this, I figured this would be the best spot.
The reason im posting this is because a lot of people were asking how to use the EVO keyboard (with arrows) on NON-Evo sense builds. First off, as far as I have tried, the build does have to be a sense build. I have tested this on just about every sense build for the HD2.
I've attached the renamed apk that ive been using. Hopefully it will work since I sent it straight from my phone. If you use it, skip #1.
1.) Rename the HTC_IME.apk to newHTC_IME.apk
2.)Go into the folder where the newHTC_IME.apk is (if you download it from your phone then it will be in the "download" folder) and using "Root Explorer" or another root file explorer long press the apk and select copy.
3.)Go to your system>>app folder and paste the newHTC_IME.apk. Since its not the same name as the original it will not ask you if you want to over ride the original. But it will still be there if you choose you do not want the EVO keyboard later on.
4.) You WILL have to reboot for the changes to take affect, if you do not you will not have a keyboard till you do reboot.
I hope I didnt make this complicated lol, and yes i know....some of you know how to do this. I did it for the ones who did not.
Works perfectly with desire sense mdeejay build. Thanks.

that's really great! sometimes it's pretty hard to navigate in text and this makes it a lot easier. thank you!
Same great result here... Thnx man...
Thank You
U don't know how long ive been searching for this and all the time it was right under my nose!
Im copying the newHTC_IME.apk to, "sd/android/AndroidApps/," then rebooting but nothing!
Ive tried clicking on newHTC_IME.apk in this folder it tries to install but then says, "application not installed".
Please Help.

the method you're doing won't work.. follow the OP's instruction on how to do it, or install droid explorer and then copy/paste the newHTC_IME.apk file to system/app folder.
BE VERY WARY ABOUT THIS!!!
I'm going to have to start from scratch as doing this has lost my keyboard, permanently.
I keep getting a "Sorry" message saying that "The application Touch Input has stopped unexpectedly" and my keyboard is unavailable.
This is after installing this new keyboard, as well as after restoring the original one. It's basically just screwed my keyboard so I'm going to have to rebuild my instance of Android from scratch.

You've got to copy it in sd/Android/root/system/app>
and reboot!
this should work for you.

My friends, i'm not able to write the file newHTC_IME.apk into /system/app/.
I've installed "Root Explorer" and I also cannot, it tells me that there's no space to copy the file... even i use mount r/w
i'v also tried to access superuser but i dont know how it works... superuser2.3.6 app screen shows me there's no apps, log shows me there's no log, and i don't know how can i give root privilegies to "root explorer"
thnx!
SOLVED: I was able doing the same, deleting HTC_IME.pak and copying newHTC_IME.pak. Thnx!!!
Hi motoman234,
Do you happen to have a copy of the cm6 themed keyboard used in shu8i's first batch of builds?
Thank you

Use a root browser like Root Explorer or ES File Explorer, and copy the .apk files into data/app
Reboot into recovery, and fix permissions
How do I fix permissions or is there an option to do that in clockwork mod?
Also, would it be possible to use mobileodin to do that instead

Putting it into data/app installs is, fixing permissions is just so it will show in the app drawer
Make sure you have Security => Unknown Apps checked and Verify Apps unchecked
Apps install fine for me by clicking an .apk
Use Root Explorer or ES File Manager, it's probably the MY Files preventing it.

[Q] Problem With Package Installer

I am having a problem with the package installer on my Nexus 7. (Wi-Fi, 32 GB) I think I may have done something to it accidentally while browsing through the system files. I did click to install the installer itself out of curiosity, though, but I don't know if that could have any adverse effects on anything. I cannot install any apps, whether they're from the Play Store or an APK through a file explorer. I get error 406 when I try to download anything from the Play Store. (Except when I tried to update ES File Explorer. That worked fine... Every other app that I've tried will not update/ download.) When I try to install an APK, I get a message like, "There is no program to open this file." I had just rooted my Nexus after having it for nearly a year with the Motochopper root exploit, so the bootloader is still locked. I could still install apps, though, until after my first reboot. Could anybody identify the problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
you might have removed packageinstaller.apk thats in the system. you can fix it by getting the correct packageinstaller.apk from the interent and move it to the correct /system/app path and apply CORRECT permissions for it

It's still there. I think installing it with itself out of curiosity is what messed it up. It now shows up in the installed apps menu in Settings.

It doesn't seem that I am able to change permissions. I'm just going to back everything up and either flash a stock rom or another good rom. Thank you very much for your help anyways.
Same problem..
What do you mean about "changing permissions"? If you mean to change the file properties to -rw-r-r- then that didn't worked for me .. pls help!

[Request] Verizon Visual Voicemail APK

Is there anyone out there who is still running the stock version of lg g2 24A that could pull the VerizonVVM.apk from system? I have my phone on cloudyG3 and I really don't want to have to restore all the way back to stock just for this one apk. it seems like a waste of time and internet. I just was wondering if there was anyone kind enough to take the time to do this for a fellow user.

You have yo install it using a PC , copy the .apk file and plug your phone using USB (as media sync) and paste the apk file right inside the download folder.
Next , unplug your phone , go to play store and install "astro file manager" then browse through the download folder inside your phone , and simply install the app.
I hope I helped

S4 OGG system files

So something weird happened to me. I was trying to replace the unlock.ogg system sound with root explorer to a custom sound I made. unlock.ogg was the only modification I made.
well for whatever reason none of my OGG system sounds work now like the low battery warning, putting it into standby, or even the att sound when it boots up. I checked the files, they're all there. i even restored them from a backup zip i downloaded.
so wtf? any ideas?
i also tried doing a factory reset. didnt work.
Any one got a link to the stock firmware? I can flash it back to oem firmware to restore the system files.
