DPI settings! - Nexus 7 (2013) General

I have found the perfect DPI settings for this device!!_ I just got my N7 in the mail today and I feel like little boy on xmas.! I love this tablet! Through trial and error, I've managed to settle with an LCD density of 301. Tpthis should be the stock density IMO. What's your preferred DPI?

I'm using 241dpi myself which is pretty small to be honest but i prefer it that way, didn't had a issue to date.

Starting with 260dpi (and down) it switches to tablet mode so I'm using this value. To be honest it's a bit to small for me, but don't know other way to switch to tablet mode.

I see what you mean I just changed to 260. I like some tablet ui better like gmail etc so I've just used app settings + xposed to change the DPI for certain apps. 301 is still my preferred DPI though. I LOVE my N7

I've just disabled xposed because I'm checking ART. But got used to 260dpi so I'm leaving it as is for now. There is many aplications that looks better in tablet mode than in phone mode. I think that in near future I'll return to dalvik, so app settings + xposed will be a way to go.

Nexus 7 vs 5'' phone

Hello
So the situation is that I have a 10 inch tablet now and a 4.7 phone. I find the tablet too big for carrying it around and other stuff except movies..
Planning to upgrade my phone to a 5 inch one soon and idk I'd its worth it to get the nexus 7 if I have a 5 inch phone since they are almost similar in size
Is it worth it?

Hi, I currently have the original galaxy note and the n7. I have to say that the difference in size doesn't seem a lot on paper but when you're using it you will benefit so much from having the extra space on the n7. They have similar resolutions but the n7 is so much nicer for web browsing, watching videos etc. Such a shame because I hardly pick up my phone these days unless I want to...well make a call or text...

I to find my phone to small for Internet and other usages since I got my N7. I think the N7 is the right size for every day use.

I too have an original Galaxy Note and my Nexus 7, and the experience is perfect. I can still take both devices everywhere, and things like reading and general browsing in the N7 is far easier than the note. The other benefit is that my Note gets to save its already incredible battery life for actual phone use and such while I use the Nexus.

Get a nexus 7 and a phone that fits in a shirt pocket.

I hardly use my phone (Arc S) since I got my N7 I now find it hard to type on the keyboard since using the N7. My Arc S is now used as a phone & texting device and for data when out & for facebook & Google + when I'm in bed and can't sleep and don't wanna disturb the wife. I'd get the N7 and a pocket sized phone, especially one that has WiFi hotspot feature so you've then got a phone for calls and texts and the N7 for everything else.

I keep my Nexus 7 in my jacket pocket, excellent portable tablet.
I'll still be upgrading my phone to a 5" when my upgrade is due.
I find that I use both devices for very different purposes now.
The phone is just a phone - the Nexus 7 does everything else
Same here my 5" player doesn't get much use since getting the N7. And I have a 4.7" phone that only gets used as phone, txt messages and GPS when I'm not on WiFi.
I like that I can hold the N7 in one hand since I usually stay in portrait mode and that the N7 will fit in a back pocket.

[Q] Advanced Camera Options

On my nexus 4 I have the attached options.
On my girlfriend's nexus 4 she just has three options: scene options, store location and picture size.
I cannot figure out what I did on my phone so I could do the same on my girlfriends nexus 4. Any ideas?
thanks.
I have the latest aokp nightly, franco m3. She also has those flashed too.
What android version exactly?

All I managed to do is press and hold both of the volume keys and then let go to burst shoot 2 pictures since any of the volume keys are triggers.
What have you done before discovering this?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 4
It's 4.2.2.
I upgraded aokp but then again I did on my gfs phone and didn't see it on here

GAPPS unofficial flashes and AOKP. But i do them on both devices.
I use a certain unofficial gapps package by BANKs of the theme section but I have flashed on both phones. Only mine has it. I also backed up the camera and data with titanium. This leads me to believe i'm missing some setting or something.
Just wanted to add. I tried to backup the camera app and data from my nexus 4 with titanium and then restore it on the other nexus 4 to no avail. Does anyone know what else I would need to backup and restore to transfer over the camera settings in the main post?
thanks.

Did you try backing up Gallery to see if it works?, Gallery has a linked activity which is camera.

Were both phones bought together? or one is newer and one is older? I saw same thing when I installed same gapps file on s2 and it came with tonnes option in camera app but nothing on my nexus 4 app. I think older nexus 4's camera hardware doesn't support those software features may be?

I should be supported since the SGS3 does support it while the Nexus 4 is newer hardware and software wise.

I have a white nexus 4 and hers is black. She bought hers a week after I did actually.
I also backed up gallery data and restored on hers and that didn't work either. Would suck if it's a hardware thing.

stock camera has those 3 options. custom roms like slimbean have modified cameras that have more options like ISO among other options.
That's the cyanogenmod camera (not focal). I'm a big fan of that one. It takes pictures much quicker than the stock camera. The only issue though is that flash doesn't work unless you manually tap to focus before taking the picture.
Oh thank you. Do you, or anyone, have the app package? I assume since its working on my aokp setup, that it's possible. Or what file to transfer over from my phone to my girlfriend's? Like I said, I tried the gallery and camera apps already.
I will say that I did cyanogen mod at one point but have factory set numerous times since then.

[Q] Can the nexus 7 run the Google experience launcher?

Question in title
* facepalm *
Answer in title !
Yes, but it's not gong to be released for it, at least not right away

If dig around on xda, you'll find its already available.
I'm using it on this N7!

The Nexus 7 can run it but as of right now it's clearly only optimized for the Nexus 5. They haven't finished optimizing the layout for tablets and there is that semi-annoying bug where the keyboard pops up every time you go to the home screen.

Full screen display

Has been using PA since galaxy nexus, now with pa3.99rc2 on my Nexus 4 and 7 2013. Just wondering except PA, which Other rom provide the full screen display feature? I know pie can be done with apps. PA is very slow on Kitkat.

I usw Fullscreen Mode too it works
pretty well, is very fast and stable.
I used it for about 2 weeks and I am fine.
Hope I could help you

Help Nexus 7 2012

I've installed 2 different Roms and the thing basically becomes useless. I lose the Play store and also lose the keyboard. how do i retain those or are they hidden in the settings menu? I've used Carbon and i forge the other right now.
Pure Nexus with Parrot mod works great for me. No issues at all https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-7/development/unofficial-pure-nexus-project-layers-t3243943
