[Q] Use nexus 10 charger for nexus 4? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am a newbie. I've just got my nexus 4 yesterday.
A few questions:
I am using the Nexus 10 charger to charge my Nexus 4. Is it ok?
Should I charge my phone when the battery goes down to 15%, or should I let it drop till 0?

Yeah your 4 wont use it to it's full potential but its completely safe. Also it's better not to let it drop to 0 but it wont do any harm if it happens occasionally.

Same with mine, and my screen on time is wrong.

However I remember some 3rd party battery apps show correct info despite the info under settings.

I think this is because android OS is designed to work as a mobile operating system (not turning it off unless there is no battery) so that's y after using ur tabler when u turn it off it resets the time or add a significant difference.
I don't turn off my tablet and most of users don't so that's y ur only having this problem.
Besides tangby time on nexus 7 is amazing 1%-2% drop in 12 hours.

The only time that Android should be resetting battery stats is when you unplug the device after an approximately full charge

Did anyone get to the bottom of this?

AW: Is there a fix for slow charging issue?
Check whether the device charges in USB mode. It can happen for some reason I don't know. In this mode it charges much slower. I once had it happen when on AC.
It's on AC. It takes 6 hrs to fully charge from empty. =(

What do you mean by rebooting it? I have the same charging problem. It needs about five to six hours for me to charge fully. How did you solve it? Is it really the problem of android 4.2.2?
Just try rebooting it or restart the device while charging. Im using battery widget reborn app, to see how many hrs left to make my nexus 7 to be fully charged.
Here's what i do,
Plug the charger then check after 2 mins on the app battery widget reborn how many hrs left to be fully charged, if it's says more than 4 hrs or greater than that. Hit the power button and restart your device. Once the device booted up, check the remaining time left on charging if it's improved to 3 hrs or less to fully charged your device.
Try it. It's working fine for my nexus 7.

I tried the app you mentioned. But the remaining time it indicates isn't equivalent to the real time used. Maybe this app doesn't work for my device, it still needs four to five hours for my nexus being fully charged. Anyway, thanks for your reply.

Or you may try to go to bootloader, then turn it off.. Unplug the charger, then put it back in then turn on your device.. It works for me.

Charger emit noise when fully charged?

Hi all,
Have anyone encounter the nexus 4 charger emit noise when the phone is fully charged?
But when I turn the phone screen on, the noise will be gone and back again when the phone screen is off.
Thank you.

Can you reproduce this with a video?

Maybe it's a feature?
Hmm.. Will try to take a video. Doesn't seems like a feature. It produce some high pitch sound. When I switch off the power, the phone screen will take some time to wake up, normally it should auto wake up immediately as what I observe from nexus 7.

I realized that the original charger when charging makes the device hot and slow.
But i have a galaxy tab 10.1 charger that keeps it cool and charge fast

My Two cents
I don't own a nexus 4 but mine dies the same exact thing. Usually when the battery is full. My guess is the phone is rejecting the charge. But when You turn the screen on, the charger powers the screen and possibly the speakers, so it stops.

Have you got a old Xperia sitting around? Bring them to us!
Thanks for the comments. I hope my charger don't fail on me. Just want to confirm did anyone use a nexus 7 charger to charge nexus 4? I read through forum, though the nexus 7 using 2A than nexus 4 1.2A. The phone will charge fine without damaging the battery or the phone, since it only draws the amount of charges needed.

Charger buzz not only when fully charged, but the whole cycle

2013 Nexus 7 battery problems

Just found a problem which happen several times on my Nexus 7.
When the battery is about 17%, my Nexus 7 will be turned off automatically like the device is out of battery.
I can't turn it on unless I charge it. After I charge it then I can turn it on. However the battery is still 17% which is the same as when it turned off.
I am wondering whether you have the same problem before. Thanks.

Strange problem with nexus 4

My friend recently bought an imported nexus 4 from eBay(on my advice). He's having a strange a problem. The device works normally till the battery drains below 50%. But then it suddenly turns off and doesn't turn back on again. When he connects the charger, it's stats charging from 0% again. The charging process is also normal.
Anyone had this type of problem?

Whats the rom and kernel?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Try charging it to 100%, disconnect charger, reboot and check if it already lost some charge during reboot. If yes charge full again.
I had something similar (not a total drop, but a fast drop when below 50%) a few days ago and this helped. I don't know why, though.

I think you should try both suggestions.
Also inform us what is the ROM and Kernel he is using.
Keep us updated.
