I downloaded my own wallpaper
1920 X 1200
set it and its still kinda blurry
whos knows why?
Updates : 2560x1600 will work
Thanks to seshmaru!
it wont let just set it as is
it always make me crop them and the crop square is always smaller then the actual picture
Because you need a higher resolution image. It's a scrolling background you know.

so how high?
1920 X 1080?
1920 x 1200?
higher, its its over 2000 px in width, if you want wallpapers 2560x1650 wallpapers are a pretty common format and scale much better.
that seems like a giant res
its 1200x1200 + homescreen scrolling and zooming, so yeah.

so do we all agree on 2560 x 1650?
i'll try that
ok so its not blurry anymore
but it will shift down after you set it
i'm sure the minimum resolution of wallpaper in eee pad is 1920x1408
I had a terrible time finding the right res, then found walpaper wizardi app. Some glitches but takes anypicu throw at it and BAM perfect res!

Hey guys, i've been downloading wallpapers non-stop from google images, i just typed in the resolution of "2560x1600" and found some really sick wallpapers.
When resizing a wallpaper to use as the lock screen pic, there is some severe resolution drop.
Are there some high res wallpapers in portrait mode at native sgs2 resolution, maybe that will help?

If your wallpapers are 480 x 800, resolution is fine. Just increase the yellow frame to cover all the screen and you won't lose any resolution.
you can change the lock screen wsllpaprr ? how ?

Okay. I love the Earth wallpaper in the above thread. I have a cutdown version on my lockscreen. I can't get the yellow box to expand over the full pic. I absolutely want to take advantage of the screen and display the utmost resolution that I can on the lockscreen. What am I doing wrong?

The SGSII's resolution is 480x800. Since the Earth wallpaper is 960x800, you will only get the yellow box to cover half of it. You can't make magic resolution appear on a screen that is limited by 480x800.

Yeah, just choose some 480x800 wallpapers for lockscreen and you will be fine. 960 x 800 works for selecting background wallpaper when choosing extended view. Samsung's way of cropping/selecting wallpapers is a pain the @ss anyway. I gotta try at least 2-3 times until i am able to select the whole pic, most of the time i select a small portion which forces me to go back and select the wallpaper again
Hey guys i have pictures i cant get display the full pic because when you set a picture as a background it will only allow you select like half the picture to set as a background is there anyway around this?
The picture size you select must maintain the aspect ratio of the atrix's screen. Its 540x960 pixels, or a 9:16 aspect ratio. Either find wallpapers of this resolution/aspect ratio or be stuck "cropping" your wallpapers. I hope this explanation helped. If it did, hit thanks.

P.S. I use Quickpic for setting wallpapers because its crop tool is smooth, and it never degrades the photo quality like the stock Wallpaper Chooser does.

Yep quick pic is the best for setting wallpapers. Default Android wallpaper manager always used to introduce bad gradients and I kept blaming Atrix for it but its actually the app.

I implore you to go to www.wallbase.cc to download some of the wallpapers there. You can search random at the resolution of your liking. Here is a direct link to random wallpapers @ 2560 X 1600 which compliments this tablet perfectly:
http://wallbase.cc/random?section=w...x1600&thpp=32&purity=100&board=21&aspect=0.00
Do not save the thumbnail. Click the one you want, it will open the big picture in another tab, save that, then go view that in your gallery.
Prepare......your eyes will melt
Just trust me. I've been using wallbase for years on my desktop but nothing compares to a high res photo on the Galaxy Note 2014. Simply amazing!
They have some nice pictures. It amazes me how many people apparently have a picture of some scantily clad lady as their background, almost half of the pictures on random mode are of that variety. I never understood why you would want that on your tablet always, for everyone to see, when you hand the tablet to your mom, your co-worker...
Anyway, what I actually wanted to ask: Wouldn't you want the wallpaper to be wider than the screen resolution? Otherwise it would have to zoom into the picture to be able to scroll the image when you switch homescreen pages. Or did you disable that?

Actually not........
2560 x 1600 is the best for viewing but if you want it for wallpaper the smallest resolution should be 2560 or as close as possible.
Interfacelift.com has photos up to 3840 x 2400, they have a dropdown box that you pick the size that you want from.

I see...my wallpaper is stationary so that resolution works for me that's how the note 2014 came out of the box.
Thanks for the link will definitely check that out. Always good to have more options!
Thanks for sharing bro, This makes the tablet even better . This is really appreciated
i don't know if this is compatible with the new Note 10.1 but Samsung Display has released an app that has some awesome eye-popping wallpapers included in it

I stocked on some 1600p wallpapers just to have them resized, but then found this app, its a "fake" live wallpaper, allows to set a pic as wallp w/o cropping or resizing it one bit and big thankz to the guy who posted 2400p wallpaper link!
edit: teh app also allows to set a different/separate pics for portrait and landscape.
Anyone else have an issue where the lockscreen wallpapers aren't crisp and sharp looking? Seems like android compresses the wallpapers and they never look as good as the original image. I've tested out the new moto x and the stock wallpapers look tack sharp on the screen. This isn't just the lockscreen that's giving me this problem, it's the home screen wallpapers as well.
I've tested 1440p and 4k wallpapers as well with the same result. No, im not using low res photos.
Any ideas?

You are not alone. I have noticed the same thing. I believe its something with TouchWiz. I cropped my wallpapers to 1440x2560 in photoshop and they seem a lot better. Its funny how they still look a tad sharper in Gallery.

No problem here, maybe I have the same issue but I never noticed it. . I also crop all my wallpapers to 1440x2560 and set them as a wallpaper using Quick Pic.

I've tried this, and still no luck. Wallpapers on the Nexus 5 are tack sharp, same as the moto x 2014.
The images in the gallery look amazing, but when they are applied as a wallpaper they look compressed and
blurry, even when they are cropped to match the 1440p resolution. This isnt a huge deal, but just wish it didn't look like this.
This is True
I am going to buy Galaxy Alpha .
and when I looked at wallpapers on home screen and Lock screen on my friend's Alpha it really looked pixalated
I thought its because of 720p and 316 ppi .
but when I checked Gallary app and other apps pics and resolution was looking really superb .
I can see pixels only if I really look Deeply .
2k screen is wastage of battery , Frame rates and performance , specially on S805
I hope they solve this Wallpaper problem
I can confirm this, I've compared a 1440p pic on gallery and when I set it as a wallpaper, as a wallpaper it definitely doesn't look as sharp as when I opened it in gallery. hmmm I hope they fix it with a firmware update or something. Don't know if it has anything to do with this issue but did any of you guys try a different launcher to see if the problem is solved?
Pictures look better in Gallery if you're using Adaptive display mode, because what this mode does is increase sharpness and saturation when viewing images and videos.

I go back and forth between basic and adaptive display, same issue on either display mode.
On both my Moto X and Moto G, whenever I apply wallpaper through Zedge the wallpaper image looks sharp but when I downloaded the same image and apply from photo album the resulting wallpaper looks like their image quality has been reduced. The effects are really noticeable since it produces color banding.
I'm using both stock Moto and Google Now launcher, both have the same issue so I guess it's not Touchwiz related. If anyone can help in pointing to apps that will allow me to apply my photos in gallery without reducing quality I will be grateful.

Yeap... That's it. Thanks a lot!
An easy way to have the same effect on the homescreen wallpaper, is to open the image with studio and apply the Sharpen effect (100%). Then save as 8MP> and set that image as wallpaper. That image will have noise in the stock gallery, but when applied as wallpaper should look almost identical to how the original one looks in the stock gallery.
Cheers
I have no problems with wallpapers.
I edit them to an ideal size, which on the note 4 is 2880x2560 for AOSP-based launchers(scrolling wallpaper) or 2560x2560 for touchwiz/lockscreen.
I then set them through FX File Explorer which doesn't edit the image unless it's really needed.
