[Q] Can I use other roms with nae build - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

I updated to the nae build and I'm rooted but was wondering if I can flash any rom instead of having to look for nae roms. So if you guys can help me out that would be great.

Short answer. Yes you can.

MF9 help.

See picture. Currently still on stock rom rooted, ktoonsez kernel, and still on mdc.
What will be the steps to update to mf9? Can I just flash the firmware and call it a day or are there extra steps?

So you're saying that if I flash that file by noobnl to my phone using Odin, once that's done I can just flash ANY custom rooted MF9 rom using TWRP and I'm set?

Perfecto.. so now when I flash the rom. It says no data wipe. Meaning all my apps and personal settings are still there? Also will it affect the kernel?

I would back up your data to be safe and it's always good to do a clean flash with a new rom. Most roms come with a kernel.... FYI, if your WiFi does not work after flashing a Rom, just flash another kernel. Most times that fixes it.

So I just flashed the mf9 rom and it went smooth except for I lost ktweaker app to adjust ktoonsez kernel. Running choppy and such. Going to flash his newest updated kernel. Im still on an older version.

MF3 Question

I have a quick question. I am on MDL rooted with a custom recovery. If I flash a custom ROM that's based off of MF3, will it upgrade my bootloader & make me lose my recovery?

Sorry man. I haven't been able to find it. I've looked & searched. Lol. Damn. He posted just before me. I've been looking around for the last 2 days & finally when I get the balls to make a post, someone did it just before me!

What ROM is everyone using right now

Just curious to hear what people are currently running on their S4. I just noticed it looks like 4.3 update is finally available for ATT so might just flash that for now.

Questions go in the Q&A section.
Using stock 4.3 mk2.

Is mk2 good? I thought I read something negative about it somewhere... And was that the one where once you update to that you can't revert?

You can't revert once you're past MF3. MK2 has been working just fine for me, the only negatives are you don't get ROMs or recovery, neither TWRP/CWM or SafeStrap. Also, they removed the network data toggle which does suck.
You mean from the drop down where you can just flick it on/off? I don't use that one too much but I know what you mean...hate when I lose toggles I was using before.
But No ROMs or recovery?? Is that just cause it's pretty new? Seems surprising

I'm using Gummy 4.4.2 and it's working awesome!
Well, this thread is being closed as "everyone" is a subjective term, there are plenty of ROMS for many users that many are using.
This question can only be answered by the individual user? Try all the roms over in the development threads - that is why we are here, and the fun part of the journey.

Just flash it after Nandroiding your phone. Foxhound 3.6 is working great on my M919, and it's only for the I9505.

Cheers thought I needed to delete something from the updater script

Yup, I run i9505 ROMs on my JFLTETMO just fine. I'm sure it's just as smooth vis-a-versa. It only gets dicey with modems, I haven't tried flashing an international modem yet (might brick my phone ). But you'll be fine. Make sure to make a backup first!
Got it all working just had to delete the jfletmo line out of the updater script.

[Q] Debloated to the teeth TW ROM?

Hello, I am a new s4 owner. I just rooted my phone and got rid of bunch of bloatware.
However I want to try the MOST basic debloated TW ROM.
If someone can point me to the threads of such ROM i'd appreciate it.
Thank you.
