Hello,
I upgraded to kitkat when the official kitkat came out for s4 i9505. Updated via Kies, worked great. Decided to factory reset the other day and since I have three issues:
1. whatsapp cant download images "download failed" THe download was unable to complete. please try again later
2. Evernote says database read/write error ( plus another long message ) after signing in
3. Swiftkey cannot download and install languages
I fully wiped the rom from my phone and reinstalled via sammobile and rooted, still the same issue
I did read that there were differences with kitkat and sd cards, but these are mainstream apps, so that should nt affect it should it?
I did try some kitkat sd card fix but did not work
I am on the latest BTU rom for international i9505 S4
Managed to fix the issue by installing an app called folder mount, which detected issues and fixed it. But have whatapp, swiftkey and evernote not updated their app for kitkat and sd cards? I find that hard to believe

I think a thread with the whole details I came up with would be better for experts to solve such issue
in Malaysia.
1) normally updated to kitkat 4.4.2 through OTA
2) after the whole update, samsung keyboard stopped working
3) after further investigation, the problem lies in Handwriting Recognition because whatever app that attempts to use the Handwriting Recognition immediately stops working (ex: action memo, S Note)
what's there to do to fix it?
additional info
1) apparently wiping data doesn't fix this
2) downloading other built-in handwriting recognition apps from play store is OK .. works fine
3) can't use KIES to re-download the update isn't helpful because (KIES3) say that SM-N9005 is not supported.

any help?
taking it tomorrow to the service center ..
before taking it to the center I did wipe data/factory settings..
solved the issue.
Guys I really need your help..
I have factory reset my device about an hour ago, just because I've upgraded it to 4.4.2 the other day and wanted a clean install.
everything is fine except an issue which at first seems app related but I really think it's the OS:
I installed swiftkey keyboard, and when trying to download language packs it always says "download failed", well of course I thought there must be a problem with swiftkey's servers, then I downloaded beautiful widgets, tried to download theme packs, they just say "downloading" and never finish, then I downloaded Zedge, tried to download a wallpaper\ringtone - "download failed"..
Seems to be something related to permissions maybe?

i had similar issue. when i try download something on whatsapp or zedge always says download failed. I read some post about it and i guess the problem source is sdcard partition is crashed. I changed my ROM and the problem gone.
I also read about this, seems it has something to do with the way 4.4.2 manages the sd card partition, I tried the fix in the thread, but it didnt work, this is insane, I dont have an external card, so why does the phone think the sd card partition is an external card?? nothing works now!
Anyway, I reflashed the Russian 4.4.2, all is good now..
Hi, I recently was on paranoid android and was getting ready to sell my galaxy s4 I9505 so restored a back up I made of the stock rom which was what came on the phone when I bought it.
I restored the back up, but once the phone had booted it was really slow and I kept getting loads of error messages saying different processes had kept failing. The same as in this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...restoring-stock-rom-cwm-t2882455#post55566370
I then booted back into recovery and wiped data and dalvik cache, which after rebooting sorted the problem. The device was running smoothly and so I went on downloading my apps from the play store.
But I've since noticed apps like swift key, instagram, whatsapp and snap chat seem to be having issues. I don't have any SD card installed just the phones internal memory, which I have ample space (9GB) but whatsapp won't let me download images.
Snapchat says I need to install an sd before viewing video and Instgram mentions I need an SD before being able to take a picture.
Also the language pack for Swiftkey won't download and when I try and download a theme it says it can't save it.
So it seems there's something wrong with the way it's trying to store certain files. Has anyone else come across this yet?
I'm planning on following the whole unroot process anyway documented here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265477 which I'm hoping will fix it.
But I wondered if anyone knew what it is that's caused it?

Did you install the stock rom before or have you just restored your old backup?
If I were you, I would clean everything, install the stock sammy firmware (with latest base) and after that restore your backup

No it's not a rom, I just restored my old back up of my OS before I started flashing any custom roms.
I did a factory reset on the phone hoping it might resolve it. Which hasn't, but I'm not sure now if it's got rid of CWM. Would as I can't seem to get it to boot into recovery (it maybe just me not releasing the volume up button at the right time).
Think I'm going to have to flash a clean stock firmware following the unroot process and hope that fixes it.
Hi !
I have an Italian Note 4 N910F with Stock Android 5.0.1 installed by OTA (No Root and No Rom).
Some days ago when I downloaded and tried to install some app from Google Play or Amazon App Shop, a message appeared: "The program Package Access Helper was stopped".
Then, the day before yesterday, this message disappeared but from that moment, I can download apps but when I try to Install them, the Installation, also for 2/3Mb Apps continues for 15 minutes and nothing happen ... The installation doesn't end ... Both from Google Play and from Amazon App Shop ...
Does anyone have any advice? I can't find a solution her or on Google ...
I'd like to avoid the factory reset ...
Thanks for the attention !
Do you have a MicroSD card installed? I have read that this issue can be caused by this - although I have only experienced it once myself with an app from the Amazon AppStore. This solution was posted in another thread here on XDA by @aapellegr
"To install an amazon app store app, first unmount your SD card, then try downloading and installing again. For me this worked and afterwards I just went back into settings and mounted my SD card again."
Haven't tried it myself - but let us know if this works for you!
Solution came from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-verizon/help/lollipop-package-access-helper-stopped-t3073783/
Hi ! Thanks for your reply !
Yes I have a Micro SD ... But from months ... Only from few days there are these problems ... But my apps from Google Play and Amazon App Shop aren't on MicroSD ... but on the device ...
But I will try your solution !
EDIT: I tried ... I unmounted the Micro SD but on Amazon App Shop and on Google Play there is the same problem ... Nothing is changed ...

hi,
i had similar issues with apps not installing from Google Play, when i was still on Android v4.4.4.( I don't know what version you are currently on v4.4.4 or v5.0.1?) It would just "install and install" as you also said eg.. a 3/4 mb app ! If i can recall (this was a couple of months back) it was either due to Xpose module and wrong Play Service version. I fixed this by un installing Xposed, reflashing my then stock Rom. Problem fix.
I also know there are relevant threads "then" ( when i had similar issue. that discussed it) So could it be either Play services or what ? but reflashing fixed it for me.
Just a pointer, to ponder...!
good luck
Thanks ! I have 5.0.1 Lollipop ...
I did Root, Recovery and Rom ... now all works ... if I will flash the Stock Rom again I will try your solution ! Thanks !

hi ,
yes, good to hear ,
thus by you flashing to v 5.0.1 ( is for me ) same as reflashing your Rom again to fix .
You must make sure you are on correct Play Service version ,
as when i flashed Lollipop i had errors, untill i upgraded my Play service version .
Bottom line....................
i found that if i had "issues " /problems, a quick " dirty reflash" sorted it out ( faster than factory reset and installing +- 162 something apps again !!! ) but yes ,then you have to root ,install custom recovery ..........also again !!!
But its better ( for me ) reflashing ROM, than coping with a " irratating " issue /problem ,that you don't know how to solve
Good luck
Hey guys,
My lenovo a6000 was lagging too much when I upgraded it to lollipop, so I opened the recovery mode and erased cache and data and installed KitKat ROM from SD card. Now, it is not lagging but many apps I tried to install from play store said " device not compatible " . Many apps don't even come as result when I search the name of app. I even tried apk to install but it didn't work.
And Now, What should I do to fix these problems? I can't even turn it into Lollipop now...
Help Me
You can always upgrade to Lolipop or other SDK21+ ROMs. I suggest using ED300's guide HERE.
Apps have requirements based on the OS version features, hence the mentioned SDKXY (where XY is the number corresponding to the android version(Example: 5.0.1-SDK21, 5.1.1-SDK22, 6.0.1-SDK23).
Sol
Wipe all system,data,cache,dalvic cache then
flash fresh kikat rom again... Then after that update the play services n play store.

Kit Kat is outdated and does not support some of the new programs may try to pass the custom rom from a new version or try to install an older version of the desired program
