Recently, my N4 decided to no longer enter deep sleep.
I have no idea what the cause is.
I'm on Mahdi ROM 2.5 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/orig-development/rom-mahdi-rom-2-4-t2581007
My kernel is Hell's Core B46 T4 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/general/qa-kernel-hells-corejb-kitkat-b43-t2495373
I have never had any problems with the Kernel, so I don't think it's the kernels problem.
As well as, I have switched to several different kernels, and nothing's changing this behavior.
About 1 week after using Mahdi(about yesterday/the day before), this problem began occuring.
I tried a full wipe, and just installing the ROM no GApps or anything. It still would not enter deep sleep.
I tried flashing PAC Rom 4/18 Nightly, and no success there either.
I have been suggested that I am having WakeLocks.
So I downloaded WakeLock Detector, and Better Battery Stats.
According to them, most of the wakelocks are coming from " Android System" & "Google Services".
I have tried using the WakeLock Blocker installed in Mahdi to stop the WakeLocks by these two, it seems like it's working a little bit.
As now, I am getting a 1 minute or 2 of deep sleep per hour, as before I wouldn't even get a minute in a whole 24 hours(I haven't touched the phone once within these periods) But, the rest of the time it just sit's on the lowest CPU Frequency(81 Mhz).
I am pretty much stumped on what to do now, so I am coming here to ask you smart fellows of XDA. :good:
I'm in quite a rush as school starts back up tomorrow, and I need my phone.
Any suggestions are helpful :3
Edit: It might be helpful to know, right before I began having WakeLock Problems, my battery was all psycho. It would "charge fully" in 5 minutes. Die in 15 minutes. Then I can reboot it and it would have 60%.
I ended up rebooting it everytime it died, to COMPLETELY drain the battery. Then when it would no longer boot, I charged it fully & that was fixed. Now it's just these dumb WakeLocks.
Did you try stock ROM? If you still get wake locks in stock ROM then the one or more of your apps is rogue.
For finding the best results, turn off always scanning in WiFi, turn off location.

Hello
I have a samsung s4 i9500 new phone about 4 months old. I encoutered many battery problems so i installed Arrow rom, which i fell in love with it in a sec, it had everything and the battery life was just amazing. (Thanks to all who contributed into making this amazing rom).
But something happened when i installed an app about adds and it kinda restored my phone yo factory settings, i didnt care much for the reset, but i found out that my battery life ia no longer like before. Let me give you my states before and after.
Ps: i reinstalled the rom hoping better resulta but it was the same
I sleep usually at 1pm and wake up at 10. Thats 9 hours, when my phone was fine it only drained about 10% or 12%.
But as in for today for example, i slept 7 hours and it drained 20%.
Most of the draining came from android oa at 89%.
Please note that before i go to sleep i always charge my phone to 100%
Is there something wrong? Ill do any test to solve mu problem.
Thanks all

Hi.
U should install BBS app and post "other" and "partial wakelocks" screenshots so that we can tell what's eating up yr battery life.
Cheers.
deep sleep!
Yeah BBS is definitely the way to go..also you might want to check skipjack's awesome thread for better batt life when idle (insanely )
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2357417
I got better batt life with my s4 after i did some of their tips on this thread..
Sweetdreams to your phone's battery! ))
I have attached my files, btw the battery is kinda weird, one day it drained about 40% but somedays drains way less, keep in mind that when i go to sleep i turn off my wifi and use edge network, and power savor too.
Some solutions that I follow that kind of stopped severe battery drain and got the phone in deep sleep mode:
- Disable "Scanning Always Available" from Advanced settings of WiFi
- Disable GPS and 'Use Wireless Networks' from Location settings menu
- Greenify apps and a few services
- Before putting the phone down for good, clear all the recently opened apps by pressing and holding the HOME button and clearing them all. Then open up the task manager and clear RAM.
- To get the phone into deep sleep (you can monitor this using a free app called WakeLock detector, available on PlayStore), if you have the habit of switching on the screen and then switching it off whilst being in the lockscreen mode (just like you check time quickly without unlocking the device), the S4 DOES NOT go into deep sleep mode even though the screen is switched off.
To solve this, you need to unlock the screen, get to homescreen and switch off screen from there instead of directly locking/switching off the screen without unlocking the device. Yes, it's hell and I don't know why this issue persists :/
Huge battery drain when tablet is "sleeping" - probably because "bluesleep"
Hello,
I have problem on my N7 with large battery drain.
I had this issue witch Stock ROM, now I tried to root stock ROM (4.4.4) and install Greenify, but battery still dies after 2 days of no usage.
I tried to charge it fully, reboot it, cleared cache and dalvik cache, and put it to "sleep". After one night, 40% of battery was gone.
It seems that my N7 is not going to "deep sleep" for some reason.
So I tried to install numerous of apps to find what app is responsible for this. None was successfull, until I tried BBS.
In attachment, you can find BBS dumpfile. But it seems, there is some "bluesleep" kernel wakelock, which is responsible for all my troubles. Unfortunatelly, I dont know what this process is. Or am I reading dumpfile wrong and some other app/process is responsible for this huge battery drain?
I also attached screenshot from standard android battery statictics, which shows, that "Android OS" is preventing tablet from sleep.
Is there some way to fix this issue? Tablet worked normally for 1.5 year, but in last months is unusable, because it has dead battery everytime I want to use it.
Thanks for advices.
I would imagine bluesleep wakelock is related to bluetooth. Do you have BT on and/or connected to anything using BT?
If so try turning it off and see if it persists.
Yes, I use Bluetooth for my Jawbone UP24 sync. But I have this band only for a week. Extreme battery drain already was there before I have got UP24. In these times I had bluetooth turned off all time. So I dont think this is main reason.
I turned off BT. Lets see what happens in the morning.
UPDATE: You were right. It is bluetooth. When I turn it off, tablet is most time in deep sleep.
So probably rooting and installing greenify worked, but in meantime, I started using UP24 and Bluetooth on tablet.
I will try if situation is better with some AOSP based ROM. I did not wanted to flash another rom (than Stock), but I guess, there is no other way. Even clean Android on Nexus device is not usable with comfort...
This has been happening for a week now. My phone drains battery like 8-10% per hour. I have Wakelock detector and Better Battery Stats. They show almost no wakelocks. wakelocks are at 5%, the rest of the time it is sleeping. I'm on Cloudy G3 last version.
When using it non stop from 100% to like 5%, my phone lasts the same as before (3h - 3h30m, brightness at 80%), the problem is sleeping.
I tried Shutting Down, new kernel, unninstalling the apps I downloaded last 2 weeks, and now I flashed CyanogenMod 11 M12. This happens on CM too.
Any solutions? Is there something wrong with the battery, my phone?
Screenshots attached.
Thank you.

I am having the exact same problem for the past few months. I tried countless factory resets. Nothing helped. I'm suspecting either some sensors went bad and kept the phone awake or the internal memory went bad, because as soon as I started filling up my storage(after factory reset) my battery would go to hell. I don't think it's the battery capacity because, as you said, if I used my phone non-stop I could still get around 4h screen on time. It's something else that's misbehaving and preventing deep sleep but not on software side, since there are no wake locks.
I've now given up and yesterday took my phone to the service shop. Will see how it goes.

Please keep me up to date. Tell me what they changed (battery, motherboard etc.) and if it worked. thanks
My phone has not been able to get into deep sleep. For the last few days that I've checked GSam, it's always been at 0s of deep sleep. Just checked right now and after 21 hours, my phone has gotten 10s of deep sleep. I've done a search and looked through many pages of posts on some of the various battery discussion threads but I haven't been able to find anything. Does anyone have a possible remedy for this or explanation of why it's happening? Is anyone else having trouble going into deep sleep?
Mines is the same, I assume it's because I charge my phone every night, which is really the only time my phone would sit still inactive long enough to actually enter doze.
I might of fixed my draining battery issue so maybe you guys can try it out too. My issue was my phone would not go to deep sleep and would stay awake even when the phones display was off so something was keeping it up. I tried all the different methods out there including the package disabler and doing the hard reset with the cache reset. I was browsing the developer options in the settings screen and looked at my running services. I noticed that my contacts and a. Program called com.qualcomm.location had a message next to them saying restarting while all the other programs just had a countdown of how long they were running. So I clicked on each and pressed stop and I also re-downloaded the package disabler and disabled the com.qualcomm.location. after all that I synced my contacts again and just did a simple reboot and after that my phone was able to deep sleep. Now my battery is not draining like it did. So in my case those 2 apps had an issue and kept trying to reset itself so the phone was never able to sleep. I would recommend looking at your running services in the developer options. go into the running services and see if anything is trying to restart itself over and over again
So I did finally achieve deep sleep. I tried a few things from the temporary battery fix thread and I wasn't able to pin point one thing which worked, THEN, I restarted my phone and it wouldn't go into deep sleep again. I tried wiping the cache and restarted and suddenly it's going into deep sleep again....
I'll keep an eye on it and will update if anything interesting happens.
I finally charged my phone prior to going to sleep and it finally did dose last night, the phone has to be stationary to enter deep sleep

Doze and deep sleep seem to be too different things. My phone will sometimes doze without going into deep sleep. What's really weird is that sometimes my phone will randomly stop going into deep sleep and a clearing of the system cache immediately fixes this. There have been at least two times I can confirm I *only* did a cache wipe and the issue was remedied.
Does anyone have any idea why this is happening and why clearing the cache helps?
Anyone figure this out? Also is everyone on stock? Im rooted and on superman rom, this is happening to me every day now after i charge it over night. I have to restart my phone to fix.

same for me on Galaxy s7 flat exynos sm-930f, no root, stock rom
very annoying
if you find a solution suitable for me (without root) please let me know
same here to me stock exynos s7 when plug off the charger in the morning have to restart the phone otherwise battery dies half day
I figured out that for my phone it defenitly is somehow connected to the fast-charging function.
When using the fast-charger the phone doesn't go into deepsleep anymore.
It happens as soon as the phone touches the fast-charger, it doesn't even need to fully charge for this to occur.
When charging with everything else, incl. Qi nothing happens, but as I said, after the fast-charger was connected - no deepsleep.
At least that's what I observed, no guarantee that this affects everybody.

It is the same issue that has been discussed for a while in "high android system battery drain" thread. Read up last few pages.
SM-G935W8 ?
Hey guys, recently got this phone and it's pretty decent, but I have two rather large issues with it. One is the uneven colours of the screen, but this can't be helped. The other is that the phone is always "Awake" in battery usage, and the CPU never goes into deep sleep (according to wakelock detector). Is it supposed to run this way, or has anyone had this same issue? The standby/locked power draw is way too high compared to any of my earlier android devices. This happened with all ROMs I had on it (china stable 8.1.2.0, xiaomi.eu 7.6.10, and now mi-globe based on xiaomi.eu 7.6.10). I haven't installed any additional apps on the phone after the last time I flashed a ROM, just to check if any additionally installed app does this. I've tried clearing google apps' caches a few times, the device still always keeps the CPU "awake". Any ideas? Thanks for the help in advance!
Try digging around the forums for any tweaks you can do. I found a thread saying that it's a MIUI process called perfservice keeping the CPU awake at all times. Same problem here, if I leave my phone off with even with 2g only, it draws almost 20%+ after 5-6 hours or so. But I kept my phone charged all the time, so not really a problem for me.
