[Q] Bricked Defy - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all,
I know that there are some other posts about this but I just can't get the hand of it.
I have bricked my defy and the only way to make it run again is to flash a sort of chinese sbf that I can't find anymore. All that I flash say that they flash ok and pass but phone is not booting up
I have tried some of the files from here
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=27 and some others
Could you please guide me to the sbf file to flash to reconver my define and the procedure to root it and perhaps install defo ROM or CM7
Thanks

If all depends on the kind of SBF that you flashed. If you have flashed a FULL sbf then you can't downgrade most likely. If you flashed a FIXED sbf then downgrading shouldn't be a problem.
I made the same mistake in the beginning but luckily I only flashed a FULL 2.2 sbf which is stable. For now I always start from this rom, get root on my phone using superoneclick, install 2ndinit, reboot into 2ndinit recovery (volume down when led turns blue) and I install the nandroid backup that I placed on My SD card using "install from zip".
It would help if you gave some more info on which sbf you flashed?

Cant get into custom recovery

Hey
I wanted to install a new rom on my defy+ so i booted to clockwork and did it. but it failed and now i cant access Clockworkmod only a silly stock recovery which cant install my rom. I used to just reboot into recovery, but i cant do that now since there is no rom on the phone. Can you guys please help me to get to custom recovery/clockworkmod.
Please help me, i dont know what to do and my phone dosent work now! :-(
You will have to go back to stock. That's the **** with the locked bootloader. Do all steps again to instal it again. Probably on wrong kernel.

Well u must have heard about how to get STOCK rom...
well i have flashed more than 10 roms never find any problem yet
now what u shud do is go back to your STOCK Rom the one which motorola gave inbuilt in ur defy +
using RSD software
And your .sbf file
.sbf is rom file
just go to RSD lite then open .sbf file
Put your MOTO into bootloader and flash
Do not remove your Mobile unless progress is done 100%
if u r still confused please read guides provided by experts
where can i find the SBF that fits to my phone? and also so it can be rooted again.

Help please!!

So I was attempting to flash GummyICS to my dad's Motorola Milestone X through CWM. I flashed and rebooted and the phone only reboots to the M splash screen. Can not get into CWM or stock recovery. I did create a backup with CWM but cant get into it to apply it. Heres the real issue, I have read that the fix for this is to flash the .SBF file. The problem with that is that we go through a local carrier (Cellcom based in Wisconsin) and I cannot find the .sbf for our carrier. Thank you for the help.
Find A milestone x sbf file (a newer one) and flash it using the Linux disc method. That way it does not change the radio. Remember google is your friend.

[Q] Flash without root?

Can you flash without rooting the milestone first? I'm planning to flash to a version that can be rooted and I keep reading that people have flashed using bootloader (power+vol up+camera buttons) mode but I can't find the instructions
Do want to flash a sbf file (firmware)? or a Modded Rom (like CM7/9, etc)?
if you want the first: you can flash without rooting the phone...
just download you sbf file from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1465476
and use this tutorial BUT with YOUR sbf file http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1032372
If you want the Second: you need root and others stuffs ..
sorry for my Argentinian-English !

[Q] Going back to stock ROM on my Motorola Defy

Hi guys,
I have a Motorola Defy which I have flashed CM7 (2ndInit) and also have a multi boot setup.
I would like to restore back to stock but I am slightly confused. I have done some research and I need obtain the correct SBF file and then I found the following link:
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/umts_jordan/list.php
My device is a UK Orange device and I found the device file:
JRDNEM_U3_3.4.2_177-003_OR_SIGN_SIGNED_USAJRDNEMARAB1B8ORAGB03E.0R_PDS03C_USAJRDNFRYOORAGB_P018_A007_M001_HWp3_Service1FF.sbf.gz
But I am confused as to what to do, do I simply flash the above file? If so how?
Many Thanks
-c
seems correct
Ok further research and looks like I need RSD Lite to flash this file.
So I just flash this and im back to stock and 2ndInit and multi boot will be gone?
If I wanted to go back to custom ROM would it be the same process as before? I read somewhere about not being able to downgrade certain stock firmwares
Questions go in the Q&A section
ok sorted! I flashed the file but resulted in a boot loop. I hard reset the device and flashed again and everything worked great
thats gr8 !!
