[Q] Serial Console on Xperia devices? - Sony Cross-Device General

Hi, is there any information on how to connect to the serial console on Xperia devices?
I looked into the sources of an Xperia Z1 Compact and found that
Code:
oemandroidboot.babe09a9=01
activates the serial console (see arch/arm/mach-msm/board-8974-console.c).
Has anybody tried a magic USB micro cable with different resistor values like for the Samsung i9100?
A console will help me debug kexec to jumpstart custom firmware on those devices with a locked bootloader.

Himalaya, familiar and the serial port...

Hi there,
I'm trying to get linux working with XDA2...
At the moment, I use HARET to boot the kernel, but I encounter some problems.
1. USB Serial Connection is breaking when booting the new kernel. I wouldn't have assumed anything different. But the Xda-Developers tutiorials shows how to connect via that virtual port.
2. I can use the real serial port to redirect Kernel Output until it says: "Login:"
I'm using minicom to get the output. But I can't enter the username. I'm sure that I use correct port settings, is there anything special with the connection to the XDA2? Should I use another Application to login? What's wrong with my serial input line?
Can somebody tell me how to use the Serial port via other Terminals? (Linux shell commands are highly appreciated.)
Thanks in advance for some hints!
Edit:
I also tried to compile custom kernel, but after haret switches to the dark screen (after showing the linux logo with splashed eyes ), it isn't redirecting any output to PC.
hi. you should first tell which software versions you are using.
Himalaya kernel is not maintained for a long time, but it's
not very difficult to update it.
Versions I use:
HaRET-0.3.6.exe (http://anymore.nl/ipaq/haret-0.3.6.exe)
zImage-2.6.12 (http://himalaya.lange.nom.fr/zImage-2.6.12)
initrd-2.6.12.gz (initrd-2.6.12.gz)
Hardware:
Processor: Intel PXA263
Model Nr. PH10A
Flash Chip type: 28F128k3

How to determine is my device support FTDI chip

Hello
I've made an Android application that takes some measurements from custom made device. We decide to use FTDI chip for usb serial converter. The application works fine and communicate with attached device. But on some phones/tablets it doesn't work in sense that Android device does not recognize attached device over OTG. I made tests from version 4.0.4 to 4.1.2 with different device so I think that it is not problem in OS.
Is there any way how to detect if phone or tablet can recognize and establish communication with device based on FTDI?

Root from 2016 MacBook Pro?

Hey all,
Has anyone been able to successfully root from a MacBook Pro 2016 with USB Type C ports? Having problem getting adb to list my Shield. This is on:
2016 Macbook Pro w/ macOS Sierra 10.12.3
WAWPI USB 3.0 A Male to A Male Cable
Apple USB-C to USB Adapter
Android Debug Bridge version 1.0.36 (Revision 84e3321d5db3-android)
System Information -> USB shows Shield but adb devices does not. I was able to connect with adb connect <IP> but not USB. I've seen various threads pointing to a possible issue with Mac USB Type C/Thunderbolt 3 ports.
Any help would be appreciated.
EDIT: adb command works with about mentioned cable and adapter. The real issue is fastboot. It constantly freezes/crashes macOS. I think my Mac was in a funky state preventing adb command from listing devices. Unfortunately, this still prevents me from performing a complete root from this macbook. I was able to complete root with another macbook with USB ports. So does anyone have a fix or workaround for fastboot other than running a VM or bootcamp?
EDIT2: In case anyone is following this thread... There's an open bug for this and a fix is in QA. New release coming.
Thanks for this post.. I was confused about what the issue was.

Cannot find device with adb (Ubuntu based OS, Dell notebook)

Hi,
adb doesn't detect my ZUK Z1 device.
I followed all instructions and tutorials I could find. I Enabled USB debugging and OEM unlocking, added vendor ID in
Code:
~/.android/adb_usb.ini
(My Galaxy Tab 3 is listed by adb when connected, btw.)
I would first like to know that it's not a hardware / OS / driver issue.
What I find odd is that it doesn't even charge when connected to the PC. Does this indicate a more general problem? (Charging only works with a power adapter with ~2A output.)
PC is a DELL Latitude E6540 which is supposed to have 4 USB 3.0 ports.
I'm running Elementary OS which is Ubuntu 16.04 based. It seems that it's not officially supported by Dell.
The USB cable was the issue.
I replaced it and everything worked like charm.
I didn't think the cable was the problem because it still worked for charging.

Hardware hacking Sony ZX2 Compact

Dear all,
I try to gain access to my Sony Xperia ZX2 compact.
I don't have the schema nor the previous google accounts that were attached to this device.
USB debugging is not enabled and the photso is locked (message when we try to install a new ROM from the fastboot mode).
So I try to access the JTAG interface from the phone.
I unmounted everything and tried to find the JTAG interface on the motherboard.
Of course nothing is written on th emotherboard so I tried to find the JTAG interface with a multimeter.
But I'm a little bit stopped here as I'm not sure how I can validate the values returned by the multimeter (I get a few possible solutions).
Once I find it, I will then have to "build" an adapter to get access through USB interface
Is there anyone that ever found the JTAG interface on a ZX2 compact?
Or is there anyone that can help me to find it and to go through the next steps?
Thanks,
